I agree with I.M. Genius. Here's my take on what's going to happen: Initially Deadpool isn't going to have any of his usual powers except maybe additional atheleticism and physical prowess. Wolvie goes AWOL and Stryker needs to come up with a weapon that can take him down. He takes Wade Wilson and gives him the Weapon X treatment with distastrous results: scarring, mental insanity, etc. They try to give him something similar to claws (i.e. arm swords). I bet they also try to enhance his senses like his vision. I think I see some red triangle thingies around his eyes. That might be where they implant or upgrade his ocular vision. Anyway, things progress, Wolvie and Deadpool fight, eventually Wolvie rips out his arm swords and boom...he heals and he's back to normal (at least physically...mentally he's still batshit crazy). At least, that's my thought on it. Could be wrong thought. :)

The picture shown is Weapon XI, not Deadpool. The figure is mislabeled, which is one reason why it hasn't been FORMALLY released yet. This is why people should not believe in hype-photos.
Check wikipedia - Weapon XI is the engineered weapon to fight weapon X (Wolverine) when he goes rogue.
And remember, Wade didn't get his scars until after he washed out of the Weapon X program.
I was soo happy to hear that Deadpool would be in this movie, but once i was informed that the bald guy with claws, laser eyes and his mouth SEWN SHUT was Wade I couldn't believe it.
Soo pissed off. Why would they do that to him?! WHY.
Hopefully you guys are right; hopefully he'll turn into the real Deadpool towards the end of the movie, because this shit just isn't going to flyyy.
Deadpool should not have optic blasts and teleportation and the Weapon x programme took longer than two minutes to infuse Logan with adamantium. (montage anyone?).
Even in the X-universe this story makes no sense and as a fan of wolverine I do not want to see Scott Summers in this film.
Those of you hoping this is Deadpools origin? Not likely. Decapitated and incinerated he COULD come back but he would still have an adamantium skeleton and way too many powers.
I even tried to pretend that Wade was time traveling with an image inducer and his teleport gizmo but it just doesnt work.
I didnt expect this to be great but its beyond me how it is so bad. I the flaws are unfixable with extra scenes. They need to reshoot entire sequences. Special effects will make no difference.
Wade was going to be weapon xi but he got pulled out of the program cox he was on another mission, so this other guy became weapon xi/ deadpool! Because his mouth is sewn up, he doesn't deny that he is not wade! This means that we are all just gathering that this deadpool is our deadpool that we all love
Now just to clarify: weapon xi is called deadpool because he has a "pool" of "deadly" mutant abilities!
So I'm not giving up hope just yet, and I recon if this is true that there will be a spin off because our deadpool is still just wade Wilson and he isn't bald, scarry and with no mouth! His story is yet 2 begin!!

On the same note, what kind of assumption is 'taped to his arms'? I don't want to insult, but why would you assume that? They're movie-makers and costume-designers. Not idiots. Something as amateur as 'tape' could turn the movie into a laughing stock, rather than a great addition to the X-Men movie line.
I suppose what I'm saying (granted, it wasn't a polite way to state it) is that you need to give the movie a chance. Keep yourself open minded. Its a good movie and a great start to a lot of other possible films. I recommend it and hope that you keep up your hope.

Next I saw the leaked version of this and They screwed it up horribly, Weapon XI is Deadpool in the movie (in the movie this is how Deadpool gets his name) They pretty much grafted Adamantium to his skeleton, gave him Katana blades that extend from his forarms (in a similar fashion to wolverines claws) Sewed shut his mouth and let it heal shut so he couldnt speak, and implanted something in his brain that made it so they could control him via computer. They killed him off by cutting off his head... All in all the movie was brilliantly done, but Deadpool should not have been screwed over like this.
IT WAS AWESOME.... except for deadpool iin the second half.

Now in the film near the begginin wade dissapears, then later on in the film wen u c weapon xi for the 1st time wolverine asks him if he's wade, and weapon xi tilts his head! He doesn't actually say he Is wade coz he's got no mouth!!
So my theory goes tht this asshole weapon xi isn't wade Wilson (soon 2 become deadpool) it's jus a guy who striker called deadpool because of his deadly pool of mutant powers! So I recon wade Wilson is out there somewhere!!
Although sayin tht, the film wud still b great if tht was wade, I jus hoped 4 a spin off!!
Tho they made the second hulk film and compleatly ignored the 1st 1, so I spose they cud do this with a spin off deadpool movie!!

Suffice to say that Deadpool fans will be appeased to some extent.
Hardcore fans that expect everything to be identical to the comics will likely still be pissed because there is just no pleasing them.
It is also important to note that Deadpool's creator was pleased with the movie's portrayal of Deadpool.

Wot happens in the 2nd scene
I ahve seen the movie, and dead pool is 'weapon 11' deigned to kill mutants, he was a normal man, (well sort of) but he has like really fast swords techniques, but then wepon X get hold of him and do that to him, the blades ARNT taped on, they have taken all the mutants powers, such as wolverines powers, (hence the blades) cyclopses some other dudes and a lot more i cant recall now, he is designed to kill all mutants, but wolverine kicks his ass...

First off, Deadpool is not a mutant and never was a mutant. He was an extremely talented combatant. He went into the Mutant X program and was given Wolverine and Sabretooth's healing powers. His weapon of choice has always been the sword. After Deadpool is given healing powers, his body takes to it better than Wolverine's body and heals faster and heals worse wounds. Deadpool has had his head cutoff before. Once his head was put back in place, he healed perfectly fine. He has also been known to completely grow back entire organs, such as a liver or kidney.
In the movie, he is pretty well represented, although some liberties were taken. He starts as Wade Wilson, a very skilled combatant as part of Team X, although he does seem to move extraordinarily fast, hinting at possible mutant speed (he is fighting bullets with swords). He eventually enters the Weapon X program. He was given Cyclops's powers of changing matter with his eyes, Wraith's teleporting ability, Sabretooth's agility and animalistic movement, Wolverine's healing, and the same physiological making of Wolverine's claws to implant a retractable sword in each arm (I'm guessing his skeleton was affixed with adamantium as well).
Since Deadpool (called Weapon XI after all of these powers are implanted) talks all the time, Stryker had his mouth sewn shut during surgery. He also has several scars due to the surgeries. He is half-naked in the movie because he was "activated" before the completion of the surgery, so he is technically in hospital-type scrub pants. He has bandages on his arms and markings from the surgery. There was mention of Jason Stryker being the first piece of Weapon XI and Wolvering being the last, but I didn't understand how Jason was used. I assume it had something to do with how his body was able to hold all of the powers together, but it wasn't described well enough. I would love to hear someone's take on that, since I'm a little lost.
In the movie, Wolverine defeats him by cutting off his head. As history has shown, he can survive this. During the credits, Deadpool/Weapon XI is shown under the rubble reaching for his head to re-attach it. Before the scene cuts away, his head looks at the screen and makes a shushing noise, as his mouth has been cut back open...so we can hear the smart-a$$ comments and wit we all like about Deadpool....and Ryan Reynolds (even though Weapon XI was technically another actor, via IMDB.com).
I agree with Jaxon69; I hope his injury at the end takes away his optic blasts and I hope the swords are rejected by his body. It'll be more fun to see Deadpool twirling swords like in the beginning as opposed to fixed arm blades.
I do think the movie messed up Agent Zero/Maverick. I think they mixed some of Agent Zero with some of Agent X, but its not huge. Both were expert marksmen and great combatants, but Agent X was asian, as was prtrayed in the movie. Again, not a big deal......and this is a blog about Deadpool, anyway.
For anyone who has seen the movie, are there different credit scenes at different showings? Someone mentioned that earlier in the comments. My movie had Stryker being arrested while still walking down a road followed by Deadpool reaching for his head in the rubble.
As far as all the extra powers they gave him, it really pissed me off. Why ruin a great character? I can only hope that in the spinoff movie he regects the powers that are not cannon.
If they're going to show Deadpool for a little part of the movie, the least they could do is not totally destroy him and show him accurately.
However, wtf have they done to Deadpool!?
