  • Irishtea · 1 year ago
Twilighters would so win against Trekkers. haha. This movie is definitely going to boost the careers of EVERYONE in the cast, especially robert and kristen <3
  • Bill Brasky · 1 year ago
Welcome to the big leagues boyz! Now that you have increased your female fan base ... its a good thing Neil's pic is up to entice them to the podcast.
  • Bill Brasky · 1 year ago
Dammit! I mean Kevin Carr's half naked physique (I try not to pay attention)
  • Annie · 1 year ago
Twilighters ftw. Twilighters attempt to convert every female in their family and community into another Twilighter. Once converted, they're pretty much rabid. When they run out of females, they turn to males.

I'm not sure if the same could said for Trekkers, but hey, we Twilighters have been around for a much shorter period of time. ;D
  • Deana · 1 year ago
Are you kidding me Twilighters would kick tail and send the trekkies running!
Great article, I'm so glad that you all have gotten with the program on this Twilight thing...us Twilight Moms thank you for all you've put out in your short time of knowing...and yes we will make this movie a hit.;)
If you really want to get a bunch of comments on your articles offer some premier tickets to us...we'd be beating down your door!

    Keep em coming...we love it!!!
  • scrappycook · 1 year ago
Twilighters hands down! Yes, there is an amazing fan base for Twilight and one that spans many demographics. Thanks for the commentary!
  • LadyNoreh · 1 year ago
WooHoo! 109 comments in 24 hours...

To echo Annie, Twilighters FTW! Nothing is quite as terrifying as a bunch of crazed women, hehe.
  • Swiss · 1 year ago
Thank you Kevin for being a man, i hope, and having the courage to state that you may pick up the book and read it! And please...we only want to see Roberts half naked physique...;)
    Long live TM's

This is so much fun…seeing another journalist feeling the “current.” There’s something so magical about the books…and it looks like the movie is in good hands. Oh, and you don’t have to been a teenage girl to enjoy this Twilight series. Just check our Twilightmoms.com;)
  • Cass · 1 year ago
Twilighters would totally win! We have vampires and werewolves on our side. :o) Thanks for taking a chance and reading the books, they are addicting! And thanks to the TwilightMoms for putting up the link to the article!!
  • crookedsmile · 1 year ago
I'm happy that you've received so many comments. Believe me, the more information about Twilight you have, the more viewers you will have to your site. We Twilighters/Twi-hards are pretty passionate about our books & upcoming movie! I'm not sure who would win the fight, but I would assume besides us Twilight moms, the fan base of this series are a bit younger than the Trekkies, which would probably give us an advantage.
  • nina · 1 year ago
My sister is a trekkie; I"m a twilighter. I'd totally do smackdown on her if it came to that. Trekkies leave themselves open with those stupid vulcan ears they insist on wearing. Twilighters don't wear traditional vampire garb like capes that only make you more vulerable, so I would totally beat her down.
  • Sanguina · 1 year ago
Aren't they 'Trekkies'? And Twilighters would SO kick their ahem... well, you get the idea.
not only do you have young lithe tweens and teens you also have experienced hard core
women like us Twilight Moms up against that lot, and I guarantee you we'd have the
advantage. Glad to see another convert. Welcome to the dark side my friend. Though it
isn't all THAT dark, besides Edward's brooding.
  • Sarah · 1 year ago
it would be a close fight but I am biased and would say twilighters would win. Just b/c we are fierce. I'm so pumped for this movie..is is Dec yet??
  • Jolene Brooke · 1 year ago
Twilight fans rock, don't they? They (including me!) love Twilight- the series, the upcoming
movie. It's all so great. Thanks for all the coverage so far and we ALL look forward to more!
  • debbie-dub · 1 year ago
I loved this article, Kevin. I laughed so loud when I first read it! I am thrilled when new websites are introduced to Twilight, it gives you a chance to get on board before it hits and hits BIG. The Twilight Series has touched a chord in the hearts of teens, their Moms and even some Dads. It is an eternal story of unconditional love being found in the most unusual of ways and against all odds. The books may not win big literary awards (although they have won many awards none-the-less), but these books have done so much more. With their universal appeal, the Twilight Series has brought thousands, upon thousands, together. Whether it be on websites like TwilightMoms and the hundreds of other fan-based sites or as a simple conversation between a Mother and her daughter, sharing thoughts and feelings that Stephenie Meyers has inspired with her writings. Ms. Meyers has created something special in the world of Twilight. I can't explain it, many others have tried but I think it is something that cannot be explained with words, it just has to be experienced. Welcome to the world of Twilight.

Oh, and Twilighters would so kick Trekkies to the curb!
  • Twimom · 1 year ago
We would'nt fight the trekkies. We'd sit em down and tell em all bout the Book - make them
read it and convert them over to our side.
  • debbie-dub · 1 year ago
Yeah....Twimom is right. Moms (TwilightMoms or otherwise) would never condone fighting....unless the Trekkies started it and then we'd have to defend ourselves....but, yeah...no fighting....make love not war....nothing wrong with making love....it makes the world go round (teeheehee)

(but those Trekkies better not look at us funny.... :)
  • Lynn · 1 year ago
I highly recommend getting the series and preparing to be dazzled. hah! I'm a 20 yr old who was initially put off by the YA label, but quickly realized what the pages revealed was something everyone can relate to someday or have already experienced or wish to experience it. The vampire and werewolves deal is just the surface of it all. There's so much more and there is no doubt you'll see that and will be converted. :)
  • Michelle · 1 year ago
Twilighters would definitely win! No doubt about that! This movie is going to be fantastic! And it will definitely be a big hit for the whole cast!
  • Julia · 1 year ago
Please read the book!!! It's very frustrating to read these articals where the writers keep telling us that they haven't read the book that they are now talking about! Read it--THEN talk about it---that's all I ask. Thank you!
  • Ariel · 1 year ago
Twilighters would totally win. Why? because we are young, strong and little bit crazy. Trekkies would have a good shot but by now most of them are old and not as crazy. I'd also like to add that I totally think Twilight can go the distance. This movie is gonna put ALL of it's stars ont he map. The world will soon see, TWILIGHT IS HERE TO STAY!!!!
  • Jae · 1 year ago
Hands down us twilighters will win. I mean no respect to the Trekkers but as an avid
Twilight fan I can tell you we pretty much have a obsessive compulsive disorder with the
books and anything related to it. Besides twilight keeps getting new fans almost everyday
where as Star Trek is older and had time to grow it's fan base. As for Twilight not being
big...I've had my doubts about that at first but then I get that silly notion out of my head
and realize that its TWILIGHT and we as fans will not let it go down without a fight =].
  • Twifanatic Amanda · 1 year ago
We would smack them in the heads with our romatic vampire banter and they will run for the hills! Muahaha! Oh and you should definatly read the first book, it will help you to understand us fans better ^.^
  • kels · 1 year ago
    Twilight Owns. Enough said. ;)
  • kels · 1 year ago
    Twi-Hards.....I mean Twilighters...would totally kickass. =]
  • Lmary · 1 year ago
Love the article, but you really have to read the books, we crazy fans are crazy for something, well Robert too, but yea read the book, and of course we will kikass, no question about it.
  • stacie · 1 year ago
    TWILIGHTERS........WOULD SO WIN!!
  • LondonMarie · 1 year ago
Is that even a real competition? I mean come on we're freakin Vampires!!!! And have you seen the men of Twilight? *yummy* So yeah TWILIGHTERS yo! And yeah we are a little crazy, but that just makes us more dangerous.
  • Victoria · 1 year ago
Twilighters and Twihards alike kick ASS. This has been said over and over again. There is no competition. I have complete faith that the movie is going to kick Harry Potter's ass off the box office too. I have never known a more dedicated group of fans, and I am one of them. I've turned other people on to the book and they are instantly hooked. I agree with The Twilight Guy, that Stephenie Meyer is "The Queen". And anyone who says that Twilight is only for young teenage girls is horribly mistaken. Hands down, this movie is going to knock the socks off of everyone. WOOT!
  • Swizertland · 1 year ago
Go twilight!!! yeah wait and see, twilight is going to kick hp's butt at the box office come december, and who knows we might end up making speed racer a blockbuster as well just for having a trailer of twilight LOL!!
  • Sarah · 1 year ago
    TWILIGHTERS FTW!

    enough said.
  • C.S. · 1 year ago
All a Trekkie would have to do is say something alone the lines of "Edward Cullen sucks" or "Jasper Hale is emo". That is all it would take. A Twilighter would chew said Trekkie up and spit them out looking like a spitball. As for general fan devotion... Twilighters all the way, again. Why? The thing is, as interesting as Star Trek may have been--I wouldn't know, not a fan--it had the guilt factor. Some people were a little bit "Yeah, I watch it, but..." And the embarrassment sets in. I expect that some would ask themselves, "I'm watching a show featuring Spandex? Seriously?" With Twilight, one look at the cast will tell you that this is a pretty darn sexy series. Vampires are also the latest craze thanks to the books, so they're very "in". I can tell a friend without embarrassment about the series.
  • luisacart · 1 year ago
twilight will win of course. hands down!
  • audrey · 1 year ago
twilighters because a) we're dedicated b) we're obsessive c) we're slightly crazy [in the BEST possible way] and d) just you TRY and stand between us and edward/jacob and see what we do - think newborns with focus haha!
  • joanna · 1 year ago
Twilight is for everyone who appreciates literature. Its not just for teenage girls or ladies who are fond of romance. BUT i pretty much believe that TWILIGHT would be BIG... like BIG on the box office come december!! i would definitely make that happen myself... LUV TWILIGHT!!!
  • Alisha · 1 year ago
I think it would be a tight race. Trekkies have been around longer but I kind of think that Twilighters are more passionate probably because we are younger than most Trekkies...we've got spunk. Also I wanted to say that one reason that Eragon and other fan based movies didn't do as well is because word of mouth got around about how different from the books they are. I know it's hard to adapt a book into a movie but when you have a fan base that big, you really need to stick as close as possible or movie dies in the box office after the first week. Catherine Hardwick knows how we are with Twilight and she is really trying to stick close to the book. Thanks for the article!
  • Alberta · 1 year ago
    Twilighters all the way!!
Love Twilight saga so much, can't wait for the movie!
  • Jessica · 1 year ago
    TWILIGHTERS!!!!! we would totally win
  • Erica · 1 year ago
    Twilighters.....No question!

    I've been to a book-signing......I've seen the mobs.......it's CRAZY!
  • Iris · 1 year ago
being both a treckie and a twilighter, it's a close call.
    Twilighters would win, I think!
  • 30somethingmom · 1 year ago
That's a stupid question that shows you obviously haven't read the books, don't have a grasp of the subject matter, and picked the first pop culture rep you could think of.
  • Rita Blue Boo · 1 year ago
Twilighters vs. trekkers? What the hell?!?! Of course we, Twilighters, win in ALL the ways!
Even if they've been around much longer than us, Trekkers have no chance... they would
never win. Not even in their sweetest dreams. I'm sure Twilighters are a lot more
dedicated than Trekkers. We're tottaly kick ass... and the good thing is that Trekkers
    don't even have brooms. LOL
It's Twilight love. It's an addiction. A great one. Everyone who already read the books are
obsessed with them. With vampires. Werewolves. Blood. Love. You know, things like that.
No one can escape- no one want to. Resuming, Twilight is LOVE. So lets make Love... not
    Star Trek.

It's all I have to say.
  • Courtney · 1 year ago
I am so excited that you put this article. It is nice to see even more recognition for our beloved Twilight series.
As for the VS well Twilighters would definitely try to convert the Trekkies but they would totally whoop them down if need be! :)
Seriously though, the more exposure the better. We all love to see characters we enjoy from books come to life, but even more so it is amazing to be involved in something so great with so many people worldwide.
Thanks again for an article on Twilight!
  • Michelle · 1 year ago
Trekkers have been around a long time, they have lots of fandom experience (read:old geezers. Just kidding..hehe), and us Twilighters have only been on the scene a few years. Plus they have the whole Vulcan nerve thing, phasers (they can attack from a distance), and space travel. All we have is good night vision, extreme physical strength, venom, and attractiveness. But, would a phaser even make a dent in a granite-like superbeing? Oh, and they have the Q, which can do basically anything.

So, if the fandoms faught, who would win...Trekkers, I think, but only because they have hyper-speed capabilities...

All that being said, I would like to state that I am a Twilighter, and my significant other is a Trekker...And, while he is a foot taller than me, and a few years older, I think I could take him.

Seriously, though, this movie is going to rock. I think the fanbase will ensure that its huge. And that we have three other movies to go see. I know I wont be disappointed.
  • Jessie · 1 year ago
Twilighters could (and would, if necessary) put a beat down on the Trekkies however I don't
think it will be necessary. All we would have to do is make them read the first book
(because after that you're toast! Goner! Done for!) and then show them pictures of the
Cullen boys! (Jacob too, he is mighty nice looking also)
  • Becki · 1 year ago
It's kind of strange realizing that there are many people who are unaware of how popular twilight is. I have loved the series since the I picked up the first book years ago. To have been here from the beginning and seeing it pick up such notice recently has made me realize that not everyone knows about twilight. But i'm glad that the world is being introduced to this amazing fandom.
Twilighters would beat out trekkies because I feel we are so much more dedicated to the series. It is much more to being a twilighter than having extensive trivia knowledge and action figures (no offense to any trekkies but I've never understood the fandom there...it's just not my thing.)
This movie is going to rock, I am sooo excited!
  • Annie · 1 year ago
You should read Twilight. Really. I hate the misconception that only teenagers read it, when in fact Twilight has an age demo of 12 years old to 45 years old.

And Twilighters would totally beat the Trekkies, because we'd have them addicted to the books in no time.
  • Alex · 1 year ago
Do you even have to ask?
    Twilighters!
  • Alex · 1 year ago
Sorry, I never got to finish what I was saying.
    Anyway...
It makes me laugh about how many people are unaware of Twilight.
    Soon, that will change.
    ;)
    I love being a Twilighter.
  • Arockr · 1 year ago
In response to your Eragon comment, I have NEVER seen a fan for the Inheritance Trilogy
that even compared to a Twilighter in the slightest. NEVER(and I've never even heard of Serenity :P). The level of love for these books and characters surpasses any other book and
it's fans ever and even if this movie was crappy (which it won't be) it WOULD be a success
simply because of the fact that all the fans in the world would flood the theaters to get a
glimpse, and being as we Twilighters are, we would go see a crappy twilight movie twice to
    support our favorite author ;).
And there is no question about who would win, a Twilighter would. Hands down.
  • Shelly · 1 year ago
Psh, move over Trekkies, Twilighters are moving in.

Twilighters would definitely win over the Trekkies without a doubt. Sure, Trekkies have phasers and aliens, but we have gorgeous vampires and hot werewolves. I see the scales tipping in our favour already.

    = ]
  • Cate · 1 year ago
Ha! okay... Lets think, for just a moments. Twilight or Trekkers....

Twilight! I would have thought that was obvious.

I personally cannot believe how so many people CANNOT know about these books, we have over 30 websites deticated to our obsessivness, as well as a movie! C'mon! I love these books. They are passonate and sensual without being smutty, sweet, and yet there is always a sense of lingering danger surrounding the main character. I love it. read them Please.

    Twilight wins.
  • Lori · 1 year ago
Ohhh... you hit a nerve! I've been a Trek fan for nearly all my life, but I'm also one of the biggest Twilight fans out there. Now, I say Trek fan and Twilight fan because to me, Trekkie denotes the person who wears Spock ears, carries a phaser, and litereally lives and breaths Trek. Twilighters is a term I haven't yet warmed up to. So I'll stick with Twilight and Trek fan, thanks.

Anyway, when you take into consideration that there are eight movies, five series, and coutless books about Star Trek, you have to give the winning status to Trek. The current fan base for Trek is just that much more prolific. But when you look at future potential, Twilight certainly is the winner. This fandom has no where to go but up! And with a new book and movie heading out this year, as well as a major Twilight presence at Comic-Con, I think a few die hard Trekkies are going to be the first in line for the Twilight movie. I'm not too sure if we can say the same in reverse - that some young Twilight fans will be lining up to see the next Trek film - regardless if Skylar from Heroes is playing Spock!

And hey - we post all of your updates at the Twilight Lexicon. I know just about all the other major sites in the fandom link to you, too. If you think 120 comments is a big deal, I think you should get ready for much more! These fans are DESPERATE to talk about their love and devotion to these books.
  • Mel · 1 year ago
I don't think you can explain the Twilight fascination until you read the books. I have YET to talk to anyone who has read the books and hasn't loved them (man, woman, child, vampire...) If you want to know what it's all about, you have to start there....believe me, you'll get it:)
  • Kasandra · 1 year ago
Having been a Trekkie myself since the original series aired (yeah, I'm that old...) and being a TwilightMom now I'd say Twilighters would win hands down because all we'd have to do is get them to read the first chapter of Twilight and they'd be bitten. Changed...Converted, no turning back. There's waaay more passion among Twilighters!
  • Daniela · 1 year ago
TWILIGHTERS OF COURSE!!! We would totally kick ass!!!
  • Mel · 1 year ago
Well, as both a Twilighter AND a Trekkie, I don't think science-fiction and supernatural would mix well. The Twilighters would win, I think, unless the Enterprise's photon torpedoes dissasemple AND incinerate our vamps at the same time. That would be BAD.
  • JJ · 1 year ago
Twilighters would win hands down. All we'd have to do is hand them the book.
  • BillyHunt · 1 year ago
The correct term is "trekker". "Trekkie" is considered an insult, akin to calling a vampire a
leech or a werewolf a dog.
  • waterlily · 1 year ago
Who would win in a fight.... If it came down to it..... Twilighters.
BUT by nature we are romantics not fighters, so all you trekkers bring on the inter-galactic love and lets party! Just kidding, but trekkers should check out Meyers new sorta sci-fi release "THE HOST" and we might all find common ground.
  • Amybobamy · 1 year ago
Man, I think Twilighters win all the way!! Although, I know a handful of Trekkers (c'mon, I've never heard of them referred to that way??), and they are definitely dedicated to all things Star Trek. For example, my friends made me join them on their pilgrimage to The Las Vegas Hilton to visit the Star Trek Experience, and we also had to eat at Quark's Bar. Ugg, let me just say my Triangular shaped hamburger was burnt.
Maybe one day there will be a Twilight experience and we can all eat at the Bloated Toad....just an idea.
  • Robyn · 1 year ago
Hmm, I think Twilighters would win. The Trekkies are mostly old now and they may be obsessive in a roleplaying and gaming way... but we're obsessive in an every-way way. You simply cannot beat hordes of screaming teenage girls- I mean what sort of weapon can you possibly use against them? We're rabid! And hyperactive! We would probably turn them all into Twilighters anyway. The books are just that good.
Actually I like Star Trek, and Star Wars too. Like some others have said, we'd probably just party. XD
  • sarah kelley · 1 year ago

yay twilight. cant wait for the movie.

  • Edwards Girl · 1 year ago
    Twilighters or Trekkers?
ARE YOU KIDDING!?!? There would be no compitition! The Twilighters are all so dedicated to Edward, Bella and the books that I personally know people who have tatooed "Twilight", Twilight pictures and favorite Twilight passages to thier bodies! These books are written from Bella's perspective and she is totally obsessed with Edward, so of course all the fans that read them (epspecially the girls) are going to be equally as obsessive! My boyfriend's father is a rabid Trekker and I know he would never get a Battlestar tatoo...We are HARD CORE Baby ;)
Thanks for this article and this fun comparisson, but I'm sorry :) Twilighters win.
  • Edwards Girl · 1 year ago
Rita Blue Boo: "We’re tottaly kick ass… and the good thing is that Trekkers
don’t even have brooms. LOL" That is awesome, AWESOME! I just laughed for like 20 minutes! Yeah those old guys could never face this many Squeeling Girls :)
  • Rachael Marie Swann · 1 year ago
As someone who was forced (by virtue of one color t.v. in the house during my childhood) to see almost every episode of the original and TNG of Star Trek, I have to say Twilight fans (I prefer Twi-Hards, With a Vengence) can do way more damage and Good in the world than Trekkers or Trekkies. True love and venom or phasers set to stun? There is no question that Cullens kick serious bahookie and with the notable execeptions of Brett Spiner and Patrick Stewart, Trek doesn't impress much.
  • Mel · 1 year ago
Hmm I definitely think us Twilight fans would totally win. We have drop dead gorgeous vampires. What's not to love? (:
  • Fallow · 1 year ago
Dude, Twilighters. Don't think I haven't considered both sides. But Twilighters, hands down. We're just too rabid. We'd never tire and we'd kick their sorry cans to kingdom come. Rabidity (that is now officially a word.. *shifty look*) beats Trekkies any day. They simply wouldn't see it coming.
  • Cassie · 1 year ago
Hmm, lemme think.... TWILIGHTERS! I think it's amazing that us fans have turned this book into something much bigger than a story. It's basically every girls dream. It's something people do everyday, check up on the news for Twilight. And even more, everyday, it gets bigger and bigger. I admit, most fans are girls, but really, not ALL of them are. This is just the beginning, and the movie doesn't even come out until December. Imagine how massive this group of fans will be then. It's like everyone's connected by this, even if they don't even know each other, they now have this common ground-just a connection. This book has created so much in so little time.
  • Danii · 1 year ago
HA! like you even have to ask!?! Twilighters of course!!!! if a website makes ONE LITTLE mistake, we pretty much rip their heads off. (MSN messed up the authors last name and had about 200 comments the next day)
but yeah, us twilighters are passionate and ruthless and love this book more than anything. we're always updated on *ANY* news and most of us know eachother through the website IMDB.

so yeah, us rabid, ruthless, passionate (i like my adjectives) Twilighters can beat ANY fandom.
  • Amber · 1 year ago
If Stephenie Meyer can turn someone like me into a rabid fan just by reading the books alone (where Harry Potter failed, even after i read the book and saw all the movies) then the Trekkies don't stand a chance.
And thanks for the article! LOVE it!
I'll be checking back to make sure you read the book. And a hint for you: If you tell us Twilighters you plan on reading it, you better make good on your promise. Hehehe go to Twilightguy.com and read the TwilightGuys Report; you'll see what i'm talking about.
Thanks Twilight Lexicon for the link here!!
  • Icey · 1 year ago
Dude, this is not even a legit competition.
Twilighters are so hard core, it's not even funny.
But the hard core isn't even bordering obsession [except amongst a select few...],
it's really because everyone is so passionate about the book.
I remember picking up Twilight back when Stephenie didn't know what she
was putting up there and had time to reply to individual emails.
In two weeks, she could no longer reply personally.
    The fanbase had grown exponentially.
    Yes, it's crazy.

In addition, it's not just a bunch of screaming girls declaring their love for the book,
but a community through which people actually make bonds/friendships.

I don't know what else to say that will convince you one way or the other...
but there's no doubt that the Twilighters would take the Trekkers DOWN.
  • Kirstie · 1 year ago
    Twilighters, hands down.

Have you ever seen a more passionate fanbase? Ever?

We'll make sure that Twilight the Movie will be a success - even if we have to see it 10 times each (which some of us are already planning regardless of the box-office numbers)

So, again. Twilighters. All the way.
  • YO · 1 year ago
WOAH WOAH WOAH TWILIGHTERS WOULD WIN.
    PSHHH TREKKIES WATCH OUT
  • ZebraFlowers · 1 year ago
Twilighters or Trekkers??? Gah! I'm both!!!!! D: *existential crisis*

No offense to Trekkers, though, but the Twilighter fanbase seems on the whole much more literate and...well, educated. I think it's because the Twilight series is in book form, not TV form; with TV, you can get all sorts of weird fans, because TV is all the rage and doesn't necessarily require one's brain to exert itself. However, with a book, you sort of weed out the (I can't find a polite way to say it) more common folk who just see it for the story. Because they are becoming more and more un-mainstream, books (with the exception of Harry Potter) have more of a chance to strike home with only the more imaginative people, who can get the feel as well as the story, and heartily appreciate a good one when it comes up. So I guess that means Twilighters, because they've got a higher percentage of non-idiots in their population :) (Although the Trek fandom is bigger.)

And, yeah, you'll probably end up on our side, 'cause these books are addicting. Even to guys, which to be honest, surprises me, because they are somewhat girly in nature, since they're written from the first-person perspective of a girl.
  • ZebraFlowers · 1 year ago
to Rachael Marie Swann: Can't commiserate with the whole forced to watch Trek thing, because I watch it willingly, but I must say your choice in exceptions is excellent :)
  • Sarah · 1 year ago
I don't think it would be fair to the Trekkies to go against the Twilighters. Their odds of winning...*shakes head* Just wouldn't be fair for those poor, poor Trekkies.

But we're obsessed. Really. Everyday (and I KNOW I can't be the only one) I visit: The Twilight Lexicon for updates (alright, alright - more like every five minutes - my refresh button sure gets a workout...), that new GROUP SHOT WITH THE CULLENS AND BELLA (because it makes me drool) the fanfiction.net archive of Twilight fics, and the ramblingsandthoughts archive for their stories, as well as this friggin' PENDRAGON forum for the sole reason they have ONE thread on Twilight in their General Comments Section.

    Muahahaha...

Twilighters would win hands down for one reason. There would be no more Trekkies left
once we finished converting them all into Twilighters. Everything I've seen of the movie so
far makes me want to see it even more, and I'm exposing everyone I know to the wondrousness that is Twilight. With all of the excited Twilighters out there telling everyone
they see about the books and how awesome the movie looks, I think that the actors
involved are going to be getting massive boosts in their popularity and careers. Hopefully
they have seat-belts because once this movie hits the theaters things could get really crazy
    for them.

last comment---is it me, or does the term "rabid horde of screaming teenage girls," which has been used in almost every comment to describe the Twilight fans, remind you a little of Beatlemania? You know, when screaming hordes of girls had to be held back by police officers so that they wouldn't be able to molest the Beatles, and there was constant, high-pitched squealing EVERY TIME they played so that you can barely hear the music?

Yeah, just seemed a *bit* like an omen to me.

109 in 24 hours and you were saying nice things. It has been known to get ugly when someone says disrespectful things about our fandom.

I don't know if you can compare Twilighters with Trekkies. We haven't had any conventions for Twilight... YET.
  • Ally · 1 year ago
is that even a question? comparing twilighters to trakkies?? twilighters would win by milleeeesss. twilighters have got to be the most supportive/obsessive/amazing/... anbase since, like, the beatles or something!!!
    twilighters would win:) 10000%
  • Ally · 1 year ago
oops, that came out wrong. Trekkies. Trekkers, actually. oh and the trekkers i know arent even that obsessed...theyre just as obsessed with harry potter, lotr,...
  • TrekkieGenNowTwilighter · 1 year ago
I'm from the OLD Generation of Trekkies, and I'm telling you... many of us are loving this Twilight series. Can't wait for the movie, and love, love, love, following the blogs, and coverage of the Twilight movie. December 12th! Yeah!

    Twilighters eat Trekkers for Breakfast!
  • Gillian B. · 1 year ago
Serenity was sad and I agree with you on many things, but I'm trying to stay optimistic. There are a large number of Twilighters all over the world who will all probably see the movie at least once (I think I'll see it quite a few times) so it does have a damn good shot.

I actually first heard of Kristen Stewart when she was in The Messengers, so she wasn't totally off the radar. Now (I hope), thanks to Twilight, she'll be in the center of the radar since she is a great actress. I saw Into The Wild, which isn't great, but Kristen made watching it worth while. Partly because I just wanted to watch her to see her acting, but also because she's amazing at it! Much better than I thought she was, anyway.

Twilight is MUCH more important and interesting than Miley Cyrus.

Trekkers have their conventions and costumes, but Twilight has their websites.
When you go on google and type in Star Trek you get 38,400,000 hits. When you type in "Twilight, Stephenie Meyer" you get 2,140,000 hits. Obviously, Star Trek is bigger. But who would win? A Trekie or a Twihard? As much as I would love to just say the Twihard, I don't know. Trekies do have their Klingon greeting.
  • dbert · 1 year ago
read the books and feel the obsession... then you'll know... you'll know

Twilighters FTW. I can't wait for December 12th!.

Twilighters hands down... Theres no contest!!

Twilight the Movie, simply because of Robert and Kristen and their intense chemistry, is going to DESTROY Potter.
  • Isobella_Magpie · 1 year ago
Twilighters would clearly win! We are passionate, obsessed and defend our fandom daily from ignorant reporters ( MSN!) yet we still manage to blend into society.

That being said, there are those who are getting gold, red or black contacts to wear to the movie/book launch and a growing trend to identify yourself to fellow twilighters by wearing a red ribbon or writing the twlight hour on your palm. ( I personally have a red ribbon around my wrist which is becomming increasingly more faded)

Like the trekkies we have our own catchphrases ( " It'd be like getting a papercut in front of a room full of Hungry Vampires" "They've got brooms!")

And our own fan wear! ( twilight teez!)

We expand more than just one group of society. People who read twilight are from all over the world ( I personally am from Perth, Western Australia) are all ages ( 12- 74!) Ad whilst we are mainly of the female gender, more and more guys are becomming curious and admitting they have read twilight! ( twilightguy! GOOO KALEB!)

This comment has gone on long enough, but thanks for writing such a nice article, free from common twilight myths, and for spelling everything right. ( msn called Stephenie Meyer Stephenie Miller.) You rock!

And read the book and become a twilighter/twi-hard!
  • starlight · 1 year ago
Twilighters of course! Duh :P there's no competition :D
Twilight the movie is going to rock so much XD

I'm way too lazy to give a "passionate and detailed" comment, but I just have to say this: Twilighters definitely trump Trekkies.
  • Melody · 1 year ago
    Twilighters would totally win!
  • KassieGirl · 1 year ago
    Twilighters. No question about it!
  • Dolly · 1 year ago
Twilighters would win against Trekkies. Hands down. For one thing, Twilighters conspire in groups and can aquire more fans faster than you can say "Stupid Shiny Volvo Owner!" And Twilighters are just downright RABID. Trekkies dont have this certain characteristic. :-)
  • Jade · 1 year ago
Twilighters obviously. We have vamp powers and influences. We know how to fight. And we'll get Emmett on your ass.
  • Lyssa · 1 year ago
As a dedicated Twilighter, I would like to believe that we would definitely dominate over those Trekkers. BUT... until we actual start having Twilight conventions, I'm not so sure. We should be able to say we've done everything they've done and then some!! So lets start with the convention. Whoever decides to start one, let me know. I will definitely be there! :D (Twilight will always be the best regardless, though.)
  • Ann · 1 year ago
Trekkies seem more like the "stay at home and enjoy your fandom" type, while the Twilighters are in your face, completely off the handle, passionate about these books. Yes, Trekkies are pretty hard core, but Twilighters are bat sh*t crazy. Seriously, show us a picture of Robert Pattinson's used gum and we'll beat you down to get at it, if we haven't fainted from excitement.
  • inmortal · 1 year ago
    What the heck is Trekkers?
    Twilighters FOR THE (SNORT) WINNNN!!!
  • ochazukeisyummy · 1 year ago
I've never met anyone who didn't love Twilight after actually reading it. Twilighters win.
  • Brooke · 1 year ago
Great job, fellow Twilighters!! keep up the good work! Let's get this movie (and series) at the TOP of all the search engines!!
And yes, Twilighters win. I've never even heard of calling those fans "trekkers"! haha
  • Rachel · 1 year ago
    twilighters, all the way!

personally though, i'm what you call a vampirate ninja who sympathizes for werewolves.

because i love vampires, ninjas, pirates, and werewolves.

and i just so happen to have OCD.
    "Obsessive Cullen Disorder"

we should call ourselves the OCD-ers.
    because it is SO true.

especially for those as obsessed as me; who do nothing in math except talk to her best friend about twilight...and randomly squeals about it in class.
  • Sophie Cullen · 1 year ago
Sorry, but I think Trekkers would win. They've had half a century to build up an army. Twilighters have only had 5 years.

Also, Trekkers have phasers. As awesome as vampires are, phasers can disentigrate anything. Trust me, we'll lose.
  • St. Marcus · 1 year ago
Why should it be Twilighters versus Trekkies? Those are two different cultures, and each has it's own contribution to the interesting world we live in. Having said that, Trekkies have been around longer, and have a deeper cultural base of "stuff" to draw from. Twilighters are a newer phenomenon, but have a deeper emotional connection. There's also the reality that the Star Trek universe is open-ended and has a great many contributors to that universe. The stories can go as far back and as far forward in time as a writer's imagination will allow, and can take any forms. With Twilight, there's really just Stephenie Meyer, heaven forbid that anything will happen to her. Star Trek has endured long after Gene Rodenberry's ashes were carried off into space. Stephenie Meyer hasn't said definitely that the saga will continue beyond Breaking Dawn, and Midnight Sun is just a re-telling of the first, so there's a Big Problem right there! Stephenie will move on to different projects like The Host (ironically she's a sci-fi fan herself!). Will the Twilight well then dry up? Will Meyer open up the Twilight world to other writers? I passionately love both Twilight AND Star Trek. It's just that Star Trek is a gift that keeps giving. Twilight has serious and inherent limitations, sad to say. Who kicks who's butt seems to be a moot point.

twilighters would win! What is trekkers, anyway?
  • goaskalice · 1 year ago
Dammit Jim, I’m a Twilighter not a Trekkie! I think anyone who’s into classics like Star Trek would be into the Twilight Series. I cannot wait to see Sylar.. I mean….Zachery play Spock, but I am in more pain waiting on the Twilight the movie.
  • VampireStalker27 · 1 year ago
Uh duh! Twilighters win! I've heard that these trekkers have phasers...? (what is a trekker btw?) Well sorry (not exactly a sci-ci freak, but I'm pretty sure) but vampires can only be killed be another vampire or a werewolf, plus they're awesome and immortal! Twilighters definitely.
  • happlybitten:) · 1 year ago
Trekkers who? We Twilighters would SOOO win!!!!!
  • IzzI · 1 year ago
    TWILIGHTERS ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • #1twilighter · 1 year ago
Ha. Thats a VERY stupid question and if you had actually read the books you wouldnt need to ask because the answer is SO obvious.

    Twilighters. Enough said.
  • ZebraFlowers · 1 year ago
to St. Marcus: *hug* you are so good for being so impartial. I'm sorry I didn't have the courage to defend my other fandom like you did.

And that brings up a good point: 50-70 years from now, will people be reprinting the Twilight books? How about 100, or 200? The scary thing is, I don't know, although I love these books to death and consider them on a par with those of Jane Austen, and worthy of someday being reprinted with footnotes so that people in the future can understand the dialogue of our days. My Twilight books are actually part of a small collection of books that I have that I have vowed to myself that I'll keep forever and ever, so that I can be absolutely sure that my grandchildren will be able to get ahold of a copy, to read and enjoy as I have.
Well, for all we know, parasitic creatures WILL take over our bodies and take over our concious minds, and then it won't really matter ;)
  • jessy · 1 year ago
Twilighters would totally win ! i mean look at how many people have showed up for the film shooting. Alot and have any trekkies sent theyre actors and actresses baskets with candies and greeting i honestly dont know but i also dont think so !
and twilight is such an addicting and heart filled book with so much depth that its fans will fight harder to win if this is a competition. so twilighters would win for bella and edward the cullens halesblacks and swans !
  • Aurea · 1 year ago
Twilighters wouldn't fight. They would just stand strong against trekkers, possibly convert them.
Good more people are recognizing the buzz.
    We want news please.
  • St. Marcus · 1 year ago
    Thanks, Zebra Flowers!

Yes, I think that the Twilight saga will one day be seen as a classic, much like The Narnia Chrronicles and Lord of the Rings. I just want to point out again that my big fear with Twilight is that the saga is self-limiting. Please tell me I'm wrong, but 4 or 5 books and that's it. Finito. The Star Trek on the other hand, is a self-sustaining organism, taking whatever form it needs from many sources, constantly adapting. I have no idea how many authors have contributed, and continue to contribute to, Star Trek. Will Twilight soon come to an end when Stephenie goes on to pursue other interests, leaving us a great big gaping hole in our chests? We agonize over the long waits between her books; what happens when we finally come to that point when nothing else follows?

It doesn't have to be that soon. I can see many other possible stories; the Story of Carlisle, intertwined with the Volturi, would fill many volumes by itself. A fleshing out of the Quillaeute legends, with a new cast of characters, would be great too. Alice's life would make an interesting read. Jasper and the Vampire Wars would be really fascinating to learn more about.

But is Stephanie Meyer herself interested in keeping Twilight alive? Have fans gotten together to address that issue, if they say that they would outdo Trekkers any day in their passion and zeal and kick their butts? For sure, Star Trek will always be around. What of the Twilight saga, ten years from now? Will they just be a pile of books waiting to be discovered in a library shelf by a future ten year old? Will they just be listed as one of Stephenie's "earlier works" as she made a name for herself as a noted romance/sci-fi author?

We can always make jokes about Trekkers and their "phasers set on stun", but the true test is Time.
  • Rachel · 1 year ago
    its funny.
my mom is a trekkie (she loves star trek).
    but ima twilighter.

    vampires own.
they will kick those space dudes butts.
    who cares about vulcan's anyways
besides the fact that they have cool ears?
THEY DONT SPARKLE LIKE VAMPIRES DO.

    and they have green blood.
    ew.

    yeah...vampires are just better.
    so im betting on twilighters.

psh that question shouldn't be asked! lol, Twilight would kick some ass!!! :DDD

I am a new fan from Singapore. Truth be told, the first time I heard about the Twilight movie and books. I thought it was just another Teen Romance series trying to be hip. "The OC with vampires" in other words.

I am happy to say that I was wrong.

(Shrug) I'll be watching the movie first before starting on Twilight (It'll be more enriching that way. No preconceptions). However this weekend, I went down to Borders and skimmed through Twilight.

My first impression...Good. Very good. Stephanie Mays has a real feel for dialogue. I felt a real connection for Edward and Bella. I could really sense the caring and the love connection they felt for one another.

The plot (if opposed to Harry Potter) isn't a very complicated one. And Stephanie's concept of vampires isn't too revolutionary (liked the Sunlight effect though). However, Twilight really drew me in. I am a pretty finicky reader myself, and Twilight impressed me a lot.

I'll be looking forward to the movie. Kristin certainly matches what I thought Bella should be (Attractive but no Helen of Troy beauty).

P.S- I have one question though. I found it a little odd that Edward and the Cullen still have to go to school. I mean...they're over a 100 years old. I understand they need to blend in. But repeating High School in every town? A little odd isn't it?

Loved the book though. Best wishes to the movie, Twilightfans! Thanks!

I'm sorry but a twilighter would kick a trekkies but. the majority of my family is trekkies and i could take all of them on. Also considering the fact that most trekkies are boys and most twilighters are girls they dont stand a chance. Us twilighters have been called 'ravid and rabid' and i consider that a fair description.
  • David · 1 year ago
The thing i like about the books its thats the author seems so in tune with teenagers that age(Maybe her kids i dunno).Plus she can tell the storry from a male perspective with precision(yeah..yeah..how dif can a guys mind be right?)But she has a good idea of what a guy's real reaction would be and not what the girl wants it to be.I hope she plans on writing for a very long time.
