Film School Rejects: WTF: Long Ass Movies

I'm not looking forward to the 2hrs 40mins of Jesse James, but looking forward to the film itself. Although American Gangster was long, it didn't really feel too long, unlike We Own The Night, which was 38 minutes shorter but actually felt much longer.

To take a phrase from Roger Ebert, "A great film can never be too long and a bad one can never be short enough." Or something like that.

Well, I saw Jesse James, and like American Gangster, I didn't really feel the length, which is obviously good and testament to the film which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Editor Thelma Schoonmaker stated that the first cut of "The Departed" had nearly a four-
hour runtime (including end credits). That's one I wouldn't mind seeing, given it didn't have
    eight endings like ROTK.

One of the longest movies I've ever seen would have to be The Lord of the Rings:Return of the King.Just when you think its over they through another scene at you.I like the LOTR but for the love of God was all that necessary?
