    Great Article!

It frustrates me to no end to have to sit through countless warnings, previews, and studio logos. I watch a ton of DVD's every week (At least ten) and sitting through the same thing over and over again is annoying.

I wish all companies allowed you to bypass the warnings with one click. Also, I wish not all DVD's had really annoying animated menus. Just get to the damn film already! Argh!

It can't be as annoying as paying to watch commercials in the movie theater before the previews have even started.

    @ Alericc...

Tell me about it. Makes it hard to carry on a conversation with someone before the flick.

Are you saying we're not allowed to copy the DVD and hand it out to all our friends? What if we have implied consent from the FBI but not express written consent?

I'll ask some FBI - er, I mean State Department - friends about this.

I feel the same way and I've complained about this myself in the past. Specifically when I'm trying to load a Wiggles DVD for my two year old and the boy has to sit there and be warned how illegal it is to copy the disc. The boy has been warned. Now anyone with kids will know this, but my son watches any of his DVDs some 100+ times before he tires of it. Does he really have to be warned EVERY friggin' time he wants to watch it?

It's more than annoying. There really is no excuse for not letting us fast forward through these warnings. Once you've seen it once that should be enough.

What's even worse are movies from studios who used to allow you to skip past these warnings and company logos (like the old Dimension films releases), and now they don't allow it. I think you're onto something Kevin, when you stated it was some sorta court case.

The biggest offender of these "waste 20 minutes of your life by playing every warning consecutively, then following it with the warning in French" deals is FOX. Luckily, I'm a smoker, so I pop the DVD in, go have a cig, and when I come back it's either ready, or I have to fast forward through previews. But yeah, it is annoying.

Even worse? I bought a movie a few years back called "Kairo" (a.k.a. "Pulse") where you couldn't even fast forward the previews! 10 minutes of sitting there, watching not only the FBI and company commentary warnings, but I had to sit through an HD-TV commercial, as well as a preview for "The World's Fastest Indian". That kinda stuff bugs the Hell outta me.

Speaking of annoying DVD animated menus....

if you let the 'Shrek' menu go for a while, Donkey keeps jumping around in the bushes and yells things. I fell asleep watching 'Shrek' a few years ago, and heard Eddie Murphey's voice over and over for the next six hours.

if you want to try something frustrating, try watching some wrestling dvd's. every single wwe dvd forces you to sit through a "don't try this at home" warning that's over a minute long.
