Wolverine in Japan with (vs) Samurais and Ninjas. Bring it on! But just a thought, wouldn't it be interesting to have that film be directed by a Japanese director? Someone like Shohei Imamura or maybe even his son Daisuke Tengan? Heck I would settle for a Japanese film grad just so that the film may get a little bit of authenticity and not hollywood's take on Japanese culture.

the problem is that most popular Japanese anime live-action movies are way too silly and goofy...with Dark Knight and Iron Man studios are making serious superhero films...we could end up having another Ang Lee Hulk on our hands....if they could bring back to life Kinji Fukasaku (Battle Royale) then I'd agree with you...I'm still set on Zack Snyder taking it on so at least the casting will be good... it could be shot in New Zealand and then they could still bring in real Japanese actors...similar to what they did with The Last Samurai...Johnnie To could do it justice purely with visuals and tone....

Ridley Scott's Black Rain got Japanese/Yakuza culture pretty spot on....

it's kind of old news he already mentioned this to MTV back when he was doing press for Australia back in November....Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog) was approached to write the script, I''m not sure he accepted...if it happens I just hope they get a new director and special effects company....Zack Snyder was originally going to do Wolverine but chose Watchmen instead...now that Zack and Hugh are working together on Guardians of Ga'Hoole...there is the slight chance he could direct Wolverine 2 because of that relationship... Gavin Hood is somewhat of a decent director but had no knowledge of X-Men or Wolverine.. which may have doomed it from the beginning they needed someone like Bryan Singer who knew the material...along with someone with enough success to gain creative control and not let producers/Fox meddle with the film's story and tone

I just hope we get to see a pre-X2 rematch between Lady Deathstrike and Logan.....I'm sure the main villains would end up Silver Samurai and The Hand...I'd like to think Fox has learned their lesson about perhaps giving creative space...after the poor reviews and almost devastating leak...the leak more than likely came from way too much studio involvement that so many people at Fox had copies it got out to the general public

I doubt the Magneto movie will ever get made because David S. Goyer insists on directing it...after disasters like Blade Trinity and Unborn...it might be the best move by Fox to ignore the project until Goyer gives up on it

I was trying to forget he ever directed a film....he's not as bad as Frank Miller but he's close...comicbook writers really should stick to writing and let professionals direct their material

Yes, you are so right about that. I had happy about the fact that it will set in Japan, a X-Men movie being in Japan will only means two things to me, badass, Samurai and Ninjas which my family were in real life because I am half-Japanese, half-Mexican guy!

Re-watched X2. Still the best comic book movie to date. Period.

I don't know how well Wolverine in Japan would play. When they drew Wolverine in Japan, they drew him very much like he belonged there. Can you imagine Hugh Jackman walking around in a kimono? Plus, that would just be a Wolverine story. It removes all of the other mutants, basically. You'd get maybe Lady Deathstrike, Sabretooth, and Sunfire. But there's no reason for Gambit, Deadpool, or any other cool mutant.

Whatever they do, they need to redesign Wolverine's claws. In all 4 movies they look like butter knives. In the comics and cartoons they were always long and pretty thin. In this, they're really thick and goofy. We need this:

Deadpool Spinoff.
Gambit Spinoff.
X-Men 4 where the team is: Wolverine, Rogue, Gambit, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Jubilee, Beast and Colossus. Maybe Psylocke. But ditch Storm because Halley Berry sucks. The villain should be either Mr. Sinister, Omega Red, or Apocalypse. Or do something a little crazy with the Shi'ar Empire and some aliens, maybe the Brood. Just get away from Magneto, it's old. I'm kind of tired of human villains too, but they haven't done sentinels yet.
