The 30 Best Films of the Decade
It would be cool to see the Riddler in Nolan's Batman.....
interest in the story besides rachel... And of course Chris Nolan's interpretation of the
Riddler would be epic as well.
depth. Another character may not even be necessary but as long as they keep the villain
grounded in reality, thats all I ask for.
or bring the HUSH! arc to the screen...
what the Nolan's Dark Knight could use.
I do find it interesting though, that nobody mentions Penguin ..
As for Plainview .. he's finished ;)
Riddler would have been my other choice, but with Two-Face, it would be too much like a Batman Forever remake.
Hush, although not my fav. story arc would be pretty cool on screen perhaps.
Catwoman/Riddler storyline would be interesting, no doubt. But given that Nolan has
alluded that this is a trilogy, whatever 3 does, it will have to redeem Batman from the shit
he goes through in 3.
That means love interest, probably, and why not give us Catwoman?
Just dont put 16 villians in there and I think they'll be fine he eliminated like half the rogues gallery as possibly contenders already though.
Blogged this post on our blog at http://blog.grimpuppy.com
Grimpuppy at Grimpuppy.com
Final answer: Riddler.
Please no Penguin, Mr. Freeze, or Riddler, though.
ambiguously character and a dangerous love interest. The Riddler would also be great if
portrayed as a prideful intellect who wishes to outwit the Bat. Clayface or Man-Bat could
ruin Batman's reputation by imitating or being mistaken for him, and introduce a new
element of surprise to the series. Thanks!
I pretty much agree on getting a female villain in there though. I think Harley Quinn or Catwoman would be good choices. Or if Nolan can find a way to salvage Poison Ivy, that would be great.
They haven't done the female foil yet and I think it would be really interesting to see THIS Batman in THIS universe deal with the love/hate, friend/foe relationship that comes out of introducing Selina Kyle. I'd LOVE to see Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne finding himself attracted to someone he would have so much conflict with.
And I say Selina over Pamela Isley because Posion Ivy falls into more of the "supernatural" category of Batman villains, which I think this universe has made a point to stray away from (not counting Gotham Knight). Catwoman doesn't NEED to have nine lives or have magic cat powers or certainly any of that halle berry crap. She can just be a hot, smart criminal who wears leather. :)
This is also why villains like Clayface wouldn't work. It's much more interesting to keep it REAL.
Also for this reason, I think the Riddler would work very well. Maybe they can twist it so Nigma is inspired by the trickery of the Joker, but thinks he can do it better.
Also Mr. Freeze could work well because of his tragic story. Nolan does well with tragic stories and detailing how upstanding people can fall from grace. Can you IMAGINE if this role was cast correctly and Nolanized, how epic it could be? A la the animated series. Always got to me. Even though I was only about 7 when the series aired...and got made fun of for watching it cause I'm a girl...anyway...
In another universe, I would have loved Harley Quinn making an appearance - can you IMAGINE having the Joker + someone who is madly in love with the Joker being crazy and sexy all over Gotham city?! But as there is no way to recast the Joker (no one can touch Heath's performance), I think that leaves Harley out.
In conclusion:
The Riddler, Mr. Freeze, or Catwoman.
obvious*
...
bah
Scar Face would fit into the whole Mob theme in these movies. He would also further expand on the theme of villains just as crazy as B himself. A man who is controlled by a doll just screams conflict. Does Batman take down the doll or the Ventriloquist? Who is really in power and who is the victim?
Hatter follows the same thread. Are his unwilling victims to be dealt with roughly? How do you take down a mob of people forced to work against their wills? Is Batman able to reign it in or does an innocent get killed in the chaos? Hatter would be kind of electronic terrorist. Always behind the scenes of the crime. Batman might not even be able to find the Mad Hatter since he works through controlled agents.
Thats my thoughts. Freeze, Penguin, Ivy, Bane are to outlandish for Nolan to tackle. Maybe Catwoman but can you get a whole movie of her stealing from the rich. It would be one long roof chase movie. Riddler would work but still possibly still to cartoony since he has to leave all these riddles for Batman.
It is about how smart their movies have been, the sharp twists, and the unpredictable nature of their stories that makes me VERY confident that THE RIDDLER would indeed be the best fit for this team. We know they are steering clear of any character based strongly in the supernatural, and I have a feeling a strong point of TDK will be how The Joker fraks with Bruce mentally more than anything else.
Another strong selling point for THE RIDDLER would be the high fan demand to see more of Batman's detective side that is so present in the comics. The Riddler would obviously be all about clues and could terrorize Gotham in a way reminiscent of what Jeremy Irons does to New York in Die Hard: With a Vengeance. Plus, these films are about Acting. The Riddler is another chance to feature another brilliant actor of our day as twisted, menacing villain.
The main point here is matching up more "Detective Batman" with more of Jonathan and Chris' Memento-esque screenplay skills...The Riddler.
I also think its about time that they introduced a female villain or something of that nature into the story, because Rachel Dawes is getting on my nerves not to mention Catwoman, in my opinion, is ultimately batman and Bruce Wayne's true female counterpart in any capacity. Plus catwoman wouldn't even have to be introduced necessarily in the next movie just the character of Selina Kyle would be a nice way to faze Rachel Dawes out.
I wasn't really a fan of the Riddler because he always seemed kinda like a disappointment in the animated series, since I grew up with that, its the incarnation of his character that always sticks out. I do think Nolan could potentially do an awsome job with the riddler, but I think the mad hatter would be even better in Nolan's universe of batman than the riddler. He's always been kinda a background villain, never really getting alot of attention, plus the possibilites with him are endless and more easily incorperated into the existing world.
My number one vote is for catwoman, but the mad hatter comes in as a close second.
Plus, take into account the complexly crafted narratives with darker overtones (that draw more faithfully from the source material) that Nolan is working to create as a screenwriter and filmmaker, I could see the entire creative team crafting a real original and satisfying take on the character and having him play off of an into the existing storylines.
I don't know if anyone here can empathize, but the Dark Knight seriously needs to come out so I can once again operate a productive member of society, instead of being so ridiculously obsessed with it. That being said...it's still oh...so...AWESOME.
I think the penguin would be great, but I would love to see someone that WB hasn't tried in movies yet, so I'll stay away from Catwoman and the Riddler.
Dead Shot, Killer Croc or Zebra man.
The obvious choice would have to be the Riddler, but if your looking for a complimentary "character" for Batman and Two-Face to interact with I say Lexcorp! It's an evil corporation whose bankroll rivals if not exceeds Wayne Enterprises and could be linked to other criminals/villians (perhaps an incredibly creepy and sadistic Toyman kinda like in Superman Doomsday and played by Steve Buscemi?). Both Bruce's and Harvey's distorted perceptions of justice would lead them to want to take Lexcorp down, both in different and extreme manners. I think "big business" is a viable and topical villian well suited for Nolans gritty and realistic style. Maybe bring back Ruteger Hauer as Lexcorps Gotham liaison and lead it all towards a Superman/Batman movie!!!
prospect. Batman Begins and Dark Knight exist more as gritty crime films with psychological
depth than comic book camp. Thus, while the Riddler and Penguin might seem like
interesting characters they probably wouldn't fit well or feel sinister enough. Perhaps
Deadshot (though featured in the animated film) or Black Mask would suit the films better.
Both would play well into the dark overtones of the story and create insight into Bruce
Wayne and his progression as Batman. (Also I anticipate the return of Two-Face, having
seen the footage the character seems set to steal the show).
Nolan's Batman universe.
He's a much harder villain to accomplish with this vision of the franchise -- but I think with a little disbelieving from the audience, and fantastic filmmaking, Deadshot can work. I'm most likely out of my mind, though.
I think either Poison Ivy, or Scarface combined with Peyton Reilly would be epic to see on screen. I'd love to see a realistic puppet of Scarface.
Following this pattern of Batman defeating the primary bad guy only to find there's a new one ready to take his place, I think the guy waiting to step in after Two-Face should be Zsasz.
He had a brief appearance in Batman Begins (the bald prisoner in Arkham with the tally marks on his neck who escapes in the melee and later attempts to stab Rachel). His character's "gimmick" is carving a fresh tally on his body after he kills someone, which is much better suited for Nolan's vision of Batman than the more cartoony villains like The Riddler or Penguin. The only problem with Zsasz is he's a pretty obscure character. That and he'd have some massive shoes to fill thanks to The Joker and Two-Face. And the only actor I can see being able to step up to the task is the one mentioned above (waaay above) by Cinexcellence: Daniel Day Lewis.
Freeze is the most tragic character in the whole rogue gallery. Forget that Schwarzenegger
BS, I'm talking real, deep, emotional Mr. Freeze. Do it, Nolan!
And I coulda read the review of DK , but held off till I can see it myself. But now I wish I could seen behind the blacked out lines, because thats just damn cool. Oh Well.
Thanks Neil.
awfully close to what he's done with The Joker...I'm very wary of more than one supervillain
at a a time a la Spiderman 3. I think Catwoman could work, maybe. Just maybe.
Keeping with this dark theme, I think it is clear that the darkest, creepiest, and better known villains is Penguin. Penguin is also a great foil of Bruce Wayne, as that Penguin was also a 20 year old millionare who just went the opposite way of Bruce. Because of this, he personally attacks Bruce because he is everything Bruce is not. This would be a great storyline, where we see the evil that lies in all of us, and how we all want the same things in life but some just go astray. Can penguin be saved?
clayface could work to
catwomen is always welcome
So i guess Bane, Two-face, or the Mad Hatter!
Or
If we get more then 3 - a slight love interest - Catwoman would be great. Hed have to fall in love - and then lose her though by the end to peak my interest.
So Catwoman or the Riddler for me!!!!!
P.S - That jacket is so cool!!!!
done in the truest sense and make him dark and angry unlike arnie
But, in the interest of selling bath towels and action figures, I'd want to see a better version of the Riddler. Although giving Two-Face the spotlight again in another movie could tie the whole franchise together nicely. Frankly, I'll just be happy to see another movie without bat-nipples.
It would be great if they could give the Riddler the same treatment as the new Joker. Too bad Oldman is the commish, he could have done a creepy Riddler proud!
OK, kidding... I think exploring Batman's relationship with Man-Bat/Kirk Langstrom would be a great third film.
THANK YOU GOD BLESS
Peace
BamHawk314
Some obvious other ones would be Pinguen, the Riddler, Clayface and Catwoman.
The Riddler, however, would make (I think) a better addition to the series, as he has more potential as a villain. The Riddler is by nature smarter than many of the other villains that Batman has (so far) encountered (Jim Carry, aside, of course). The Riddler would be an intellectual challenge in addition to a physical one, which would make somewhat outlandish schemes (for any other villain) be more plausible, and the exachanges/play between him and Batman could/would lead to interesting dialogue.
I say: Harley Quinn & The Riddler
Nolan has done a lot to redeem the characters who have been in previous Batman movies so after he takes on the three mentioned above I would like to see what he could do going through all of the villains from the previous movies to bring some redemption to the villain's characters such as Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, etc...
In my mind at Harley Quinn and the Joker are inseparable at least in the beginning so unless there is a small appearance by him I feel like whatever story Nolan would use to bring her in would be lacking. Which there in lies the problem with her character and its fit for this movie, because even though I haven't seen the movie yet from what I have seen there is no way anyone even for a short period of time could replace Heath. I know Harley Quinn appears on her own sometimes but in the end she's always back helping the Joker.
If you don't mind sharing I'm intrigued as to the possible ways some of you think that Harley Quinn could be introduced without it falling short because there would most likely be no interaction between her and the Joker.
Still for me Catwoman #1 choice and mad hatter close #2.
They could have Two-Face search for henchmen and break into the Asylum, releasing all the weird characters of Gotham into the wild. But ultimately I would I like to see a movie on Bane "The Man Who Broke Batman." Also an update version of The Riddler, but I assume it would be more like a Batman V.S. The Zodiac Killer kind of feel.
They really should bring in Joe Chill so that Bruce Wayne can wrap up his parent issues (assuming this is a trilogy). They could have a side story with Lew Moxon and maybe even Zeiss as "less formidable" villains while making Two-face the primary villian. This way the story can close with resolving his parent's deaths.
The Riddler would be interesting to see.
Catwoman
Riddler
Bane
Mr. Freeze
Mad Hatter
Heard talk of a lot of these, and am wondering if anyone has any ideas! I keep trying to think of the perfect Catwoman, but can't figure it out. Kristin Bell would have been an amazing Harley Quinn, if things were different.
Thoughts?
( No one will be able to top The Joker Performance in TDK)
AND his will. Definitely Bane...
gkstratos@ yahoo.com
introduce Scarface at all this time. If not, there'd be too much to cover I think.
can use that knowledge against him for an edge.
haha no but really i would love to see Catwoman, Penguin, Riddler and most definitely, my
final answer, Mr. Freeze. Mr. Freeze deserves another shot at the big screen lol
either on the big screen done justice.
and since he seems to be going for the big points (Batman's creation and history,
poverty, mob warfare, the Joker vs. Batman element, the moral issues, etc) then I would
have to agree with some of the other comments and say that Catwoman's appearance
would be important to the series. She does, in fact, bring out the inner things that
Batman tries so hard to mask... and she's extremely cool. And I'm going to take a shot in
the dark and say that most fans would like to see her set to rights after the Halle Berry
fiasco (which I'm sure wasn't her fault, but still)...
But I have to say Poison Ivy needs to be included. Her portrayal in "Batman & Robin" was
incredibly one-dimensional (also not necessarily solely Uma Thurman's fault) and weak
compared to the strength, intelligence, stealth, and passion she shows in the comics. I
would cross reference to "Cast Shadows"; her relationship with Batman is tumultuous,
because although he knows that her methods are morally wrong and usually illegal, he
knows that her soul is good and her desires are for the better (re: caring for the
environment, stopping pollution and unnecessary construction, etc.). And although she
hates him for supporting certain aspects of civilized man, she knows that he
understands her deep down.
Also, if Harley doesn't show up, people are going to be ticked. But it'd be hard to do,
obviously, if they don't bring the Joker back, which I have heard they may not, due to
Heath Ledger and not wanting to overwrite his memory or anything like that.
Mr. Freeze's story is solid enough that he could translate well, with interesting new twists
on the old theme.
Bottom Line: Freeze, Catwoman, Ivy, and Harley.
??
Anyone know what that's about?
Oldman was taken out of context. He said that they always still had the Riddler, inferring that he was the big, cool villain left. But Chris Nolan and everyone else involved were very adamant that no plans have been made yet for a 3rd film. As well, the screen writers hinted at the fact that there are a lot of smaller, more off-the-radar villains that they would like to use, should a third film get made.
The Hatter is just too similar to the Joker, he's just more cartoony and less effective and I don't think we need him. Same thing with the Riddler. He's a little too over the top for what Nolan's doing here and I still can't get the taste of Jim Carrey out of my mouth.
Thanks, man. I read that and was like, there is NO way Perez Hilton has somehow scooped Film School Rejects AND Aint it Cool with this kind of news. Hah, so thanks for clearing that up.
Re: the smaller, off the radar thing - I think that could work really well - especially in the kind of scenario where Gotham is becoming overrun with "freaks" in the aftermath of the Joker's havoc. Leaves room for a lot of the smaller, but fun villains to appear.
Still think Nolan-verse will and should stay away from the monsters & supernatural villains and luckily, there are tons of options for that.
The more I think about it, if they wanna go smaller scale, Mad Hatter would be delightfully creepy...though I still want female foil. Still want Catwoman!
Good point about Mad Hatter & The Riddler...would only work if they acknowledged that they are following in the Joker's footsteps/inspired by him and so on.
Totally agree about Catwoman. Maybe a storyline where she steps in as someone who is taking down the "freaks" who are all over Gotham, which piques Batman's interest, then of course he discovers she isn't all good...not by a long shot.
Yeah, I'm fully rooting for Catwoman at this point.
http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?...
I'd love to see a new Catwoman... and not the Halle Berry version.. more towards the Pheiffer version but of course we'd have to choose a new actress to play Catwoman... hmm who would be a good candidate? Maybe Scarlett Johnason or Kate Hudson?
I love reading your blog, we are RSS readers, I always base my movie rentals/purchases on your reviews!
Batman Begins centered around fear. The Dark Knight seems to center around esculation. I heard rumors of the third one being called Shadow of a Bat. If this is going to be a trilogy, it should center around longevity. And when you deal with time, The Clock King comes to mind. However, Dr. Arkham, who attempt to commit Batman into his Asylum would make a great main character villiam, and would give many oppertunities for cameos of many Batman's other villians in the Asylum. It must have greatly increased sercurity since Batman Begins with all the new super villians that exist.
Completely aside from that. A Harley Quinn that is out for revenge for the Joker's death would be an awesome storyline.
Catwoman being brought back by cats wouldn't really work, but I'm sure they could come up with a interesting way to introduce her.
That said, I like the concept of Harley Quinn. As a sidekick, obviously, her capacity has been tragically eliminated; however, I think having a complete Joker devotee running the streets wildly and madly destroying in his honor would be appropriate as a subplot--an in-movie tribute to the villian and a clever way to toast Ledger. Bonus points: cast Michelle Williams (irony alert).
I have a feeling that TDK isn't going to be topped by anything, though, so why worry about a sequel?
I'd like to see Nolan's take on Mr. Freeze. Tragic character, and we need someone on the big screen to erase what Ahhnald did to the role. Get someone like Patrick Stewart, trust the script to the Nolans and Goyer, and the rest is cinematic gold.
This Penguin needs to be a special Mutuant Bird that is pure white, pink eyes, and sharp green teeth and of course a black bill and only appears at night and has cronies with liquid nitrogen tanks constantly keeping him cool. I could go on and on.
If it were to be Catwoman I would go for someone very edgy almost punkish; I definitely wouldn't go with a "beauty" aka Scarlett Johansen, Jessica Alba; I truly doubt either one of them could pull it off really.
I thought Danny Devito made a great Penguin; he was biologically made to do that character, IMO (honestly he freaked me out in that film and I've met him and he is not freaky at all)
I like the idea of a Riddler; a dark almost sadistic Riddler (nothing like Jim Carry's performance, although I did enjoy Carry's take on the character) I've been trying in my mind, to cast a new Riddler, but haven't come up with anyone yet.
As far as Poison Ivy goes and her "environmental" aspects.......blah If they were to bring Poison Ivy back she should be a "beautifully poisoned/infected" female, to put a dark edge to her
LOL I have no idea, but whatever character they do include will have to be cast impeccibly!!
Hmm Vigo Mortenson as the Riddler? Honestly, I see Vigo as one of those actors who has the ability to transform himself into his characters; ie become his character
Just the thoughts of a ranting middle aged female!! Good luck all; and I can't wait to see TDK!! I believe that Heath Ledger has set the bar extremely high!
great villain. I feel they could really pull some interesting stuff with his story/controversy
with Batman. All of the other villains would bring some childish/cheesy elements to a
trilogy that is only SERIOUS, ha.
with appearance of Killer Croc
If my dreams were to come true, however, i would wish Bane to life on the big screen, a correctly done Bane. We have had two face fixed, so it seems, after tommy lee jones destroyed him, so why not Bane too? A Knightfall story line would be fantastic to create options for the newly created franchise to take if Nolan decides to keep it at three.
otherwise, Clayface with a completely different (see: not stupid) origin, etc. or, you know what... Superman.
I would love to see Selina Kyle treated like she was in the comics: she's bad, but not so bad that Batman doesn't fall for her. Also, she's not blonde. Or Halle Berry.
Finally, although not villains, I'd like to see Nolan's take on the idea of a protege for Batman--Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing and Oracle come to mind. All but Nightwing (who hasn't been in a live-action movie) were treated more as comic relief than actual useful characters.
Penguin as the Club Owner/ Informer he now is while dealing dirty deeds on the side would be cool, but I'm really rooting for Clayface!
Yeah,, let's see Clayface!! Perhaps as he impersonates Batman himself!
I'd really like to see the morphing special effects.....
Nolan can make Freeze just as menacing as the joker (also considering he finds the right actor to do so, and so far, every actor he's chosen for the parts have been able to bring their characters to life far better than any of the old movies.)
tone to them, I would suggest a villain with depth and with a manic persona, such as the
Riddler. Also a nice introduction to Selina Kyle and her darker persona of Catwoman would
redeem that Halle Berry mess from a few years ago.
appeal. He would have to be a side villain though as he couldn't carry a film. So as long
Two-Face and or Riddler can be the main baddie, Scarface would totally rock it puppet
style!
Danny DeVito did a pretty good job in the last movie, but I was thinking that the character could use a more recent incarnation in the same way that The Joker as a character was rethought.
Otherwise, I'd like to see Bane come out and fit him blow by blow. All the other characters are a little too campy for me.
Looks fo course would have to be included in order to appeal to the masses, but a woman like this would be more than a match for the Batman.
First, let's just get this out of the way, I think Two Face/Harvey Dent should be a villain in the next movie. He's a complex character who deserves much exploring, and I highly doubt we'll figure him out by the end of TDK. My appeal to Harvey Dent in the comics was that he was a good guy with good intentions who just didn't quite know how to do good things. Even when the "Two-Face" persona takes over, the "Harvey Dent" side of him was fighting on the inside, sometimes winning, sometimes losing. I think exploring this would be the right thing to do for the next(?) movie.
Now, I definitely don't want the movie to become bloated and have too much storyline in it, cough cough Spiderman 3 cough. That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing Deadshot in the next one, either. If handled right, he could be an awesome supporting character and be great to watch on screen. If anyone can do it, Nolan can.
cried a little. ...oh and there was a little Croc up in there too.
know if he could be used in a movie because it was robin who took him down. That said
my next choice would be the villian Hush aka tommy elliot. It would fit in perfectly with the
whole two face thing. And it would induce much more secrets and deception.
The storyline/comics were always so much better, the darker they were, and that follows suit with the movies as well. If Nolan can take on the Mr. Freeze role and cast an actor who can do what Heath Ledger did with the Joker, it will be an instant classic.
My second choice would be Bane. He was the one true villain that put Batman out of commission for a while. He took on the Batman in every sense possible and again, if it's done right, the clash b/t Bale and Bane would be amazing.
Hell, I wouldn't even mind seeing Danny Devito reprise his role.
by what they'd done so far, I think they'd do a awesome job creating a compelling female
villainess. Ever since they introduced Ra's al Ghul, and despite how they twisted his comic
origins for the film story, i thought the Talia al Ghul character would be fresh and exciting
to see translated to this film world. Otherwise, there's no other option imo than bringing
Catwoman, or The Cat as she was first called in Batman *1, as the first femme fatale.
Poison Ivy might look really, really, REALLY HOT, but I'm not sure she can be that great a
villain or foil for Batman than Catwoman or Talia could be. I also believe Two-Face will be
in the third film, so the villainess would create an interesting dynamic as Batman tries to
deal with Two-Face.
the big screen. The reasons for this is that like Batman, he is a character with two sides. A
viscious killer on one hand, and the soft bashful puppetmaster on the other. A very
interesting dicotomy could exist in a film about that since the two share so many character
attributes.
I also like the idea of following the "Long Halloween" and "Dark Victory" books. More of the criminal element, mixed with the "freaks."
Though i just read Daniel Day-Lewis as The Riddler... and whoevers idea that is... brilliant...
Or how about Harley Quinn?
Think about the Recent Rumour mill... The Main Villains that are being talked about are Two face- Catwoman - and maybe even a brief return of the joker) Hush and TDK Returns Strongly involve plots that circle around these characters.
Think about it, A recently released Harvey dent being framed by a Bandaged Maniac carrying out crimes in his name and style. And along side a certain selina kyle toying with Bruce's scared love life and also popping up dressed in a cat suit where she is not wanted, and letting on that she knows more than she should do about the mysterious HUSH. On top of that Gordon could deal with the theme of forbidden love with Sarah essen, along with the forbidden love Bruce develops with selina. I say forbidden as i assume Rachel will die in TDK. And alongside Harvey struggling with his demons which were in turn set off by the death of again im assuming Rachel Dawes. The Finale... Dent wants Gordon and Batman to Feel how he felt as 2 face. How doing the bad thing for the greater good feels. Hush kills Sarah essen to then be revealed as The Joker. Dent blames the joker for his turn to the dark side in TDK... as such, but is willing to give up the kill as long as Gordon does it. He wants Gordon to feel as he felt when joker killed rachel (again assuming)
Thomas elliot could also make an appearance as the first victim of Hush - this would sway comic fans onto the trail he is hush. when really it was the Joker all along. Interesting as it was the joker who got framed for it in the comic.
Liek the idea???
Louie the Lilac OR KING TUT
IN AN UPCOMING MOVIE
And they should make another one, and will keep making them as lons as all of the main actors keep signing up with Nolan at the helm
First off, in all honesty, I'd have to agree with Greg: "Two-Face is enough". With SO much that this character can really offer - a deeper look into how he is really 'two' people combating over one mind, for one - I don't think "The Dark Knight" (even with it's two and half long grandeur riding for it) can really do both The Joker (!) and Two-Face justice simultaneously. This seems so much like Joker's movie that it almost feels necessary to truly explore the person(s) Two-Face really becomes.
Second, I haven't seen The Dark Knight yet, but if they didn't kill off The Joker...then we should see some continuing storyline there.
But...In a world where all ideas of storyarch and the end of the new film don't really matter, I'd have to say it comes down to The Riddler and Catwoman.
While characters like Black Mask and The Penguin are already so darkly surrounded in a Nolan-like Batman universe ("No Man's Land" anyone?), a new approach to Edward Nygma would be a breath of a fresh air. The Riddler as portrayed to most moviegoers is far too light and far too 'funny'. Where is his obsession with language? With perfection? Where do we see the truly disturbed man that hides every single thought in riddle, even to himself? Nolan could show us that man.
As for Catwoman, the Bat getting a little female attention couldn't hurt at this point, especially in the form of jewel-thief-extraordinary-badass Selina Kyle. Catwoman is the perfect compliment to how deep Nolan drew the crevasse for Batman's past in "Batman Begins".
Just my $0.02.
But Catwoman will definitely need to make an appearance soon..
I would really like to see what kind of puzzles and whatnot the writers can come up with.
woman, but since the rumor is that that's not gonna happen I'd say they can get the
concept of Bane and turn him into some military super weapon or something and have the
master of that plan be two face himself! I just went and saw the movie today and it was
really good, and I think two face lives.
peace
But I could settle for Two-Face as well :-)
amazing to have the Riddler in the next Batman film, I would to have someone like Hush to
be the main villain but the fact of the matter is that "The Dark Knight" feels finished, it has
a feeling of completion in the end where it would be very hard for a villain to affect Batman
the same way the Joker has in this film. The only character I think could be thrown in the
mix would be Hush, someone who knows the Dark Knight more than anyone in the world
and would be able to get under the skin of his best friend, and while this would be awesome
I don't see their being another Batman movie for a very long time and it would be hard to
top this movie in any way...Its a shame that Heath won't be around to be the Joker again.
If not the Riddler, how about Jean Reno as Deadshot.
Possible spoiler!......
And for a much lesser reason Batman needs a new love interest.
If I could only pick one though it would be Firefly. He's the one I'd most like to see.
I'd be curious to see who would play her.
Weird I know but a different satire.
I actually like those episodes of Justice League where Batman and Superman are angry at each other and get into a superhero fight.
(I always root for Batman.)
They do the crossover thing a LOT in the comic world but I have yet to see a crossover superhero movie.
The story of Selina Kyle and her intertwining romance between Bruce Wayne and her conflicting habits of burglary would be fun to see, especially since Bruce needs some more "love" interests. Plus, she could come out as a really neat anti-hero in the end... sort of a rival for Batman?
If that wouldn't happen, I'd be interested in seeing Harlequin. I always found her fun to see. If she would be anything as entertaining as the Joker, I would be sold to the next movie without a doubt.
Uhm, how about a better version of Poison Ivy?
(Yes, I adore the female villains because I grew up watching Batman as a young girl and loved how much they kicked butt. :D)
For Male villian I think the Riddler would be the best to try and salvage after that stinkfest by Jim Carry.
Thanks :)
the one in Batman and Robin. Have him discover Batman's identity and hurt him but not
break his back. Break his legs or something, but have Batman deal with it with some sort of
gadget and have a real physical showdown.
Use Bale for Batman and Superman or the Justice League, but make it further on in his
career. Make him smarter, more experienced, and have him desensitized to the idea of
supervillains. Like the one from the Justice League show. Super badass.
And yes I would love to seen Liam Neesons's Rass Al Ghoul Come back , he was intelligent, and he could definitely do some serious damage if he wanted to
Riddle me this Bat Person.
either be The Riddler or Catwoman. As long as Nolan is helming the
picture it doesn't really matter to me who it is, I'll be there.
in film should start off with a bang. I am also a big Doctor Who fan.
Only other choices would be the Riddler or Catwoman to keep it based in realism.
There has to be at least one more this was the Empire Strikes Back of Batman movies and no matter what they do they can't top it.
Anyway the movie rocked and hope the next one will too.
Heath Ledger was awesome in the Dark Knight btw. Stole the whole show.
With the direction the new films have gone in,I think they could do a great job on him.
However the Riddler using the "wackos" of Gotham in a giant plot to prove he could outsmart "The Batman" would be a good movie to watch. Batman would have to face a series of 'unknown' crazies who have come up in response to the Joker running around the city. Harley Quinn could recieve inspiration to attack the Batman. Certainly you would want to avoid cheesy characterzations of well known villians this could Gateway for an acceptable Batman and of course his defeat.
A friend who recently saw this TDK said the most interesting part was that he didn't know if Batman would survive. I dont' care who the villian is as long as they kept this aspect in the writing. Kudos to the people willing to put it out there and provide us with an amazing story.
time his time he can shoot an AK 47.I just saw the Dark Knight,Heath
Ledger was awesome.!
Pinhead type of character. The Riddler would be cool as well. As far as people wanting the
Joker in the third movie-it's not gonna happen there isn't anyone that's going to replace
Heath Ledger. I don't think Nolan would want the criticism if he recast the role of the Joker.
doing a FANTASTIC job. He would have made a GREAT Riddler.
In Nolan's world--I think we must leave Ledger's inimitable Joker in Arkham. Someone
else will no doubt pick up the franchise again in the future, but Nolan's interpretation of
the Dark Knight's legend will be the high water mark and stand the test of time.
Considering Nolan's penchant for time traveling stories…we COULD see a new film
feature Two-Face and the havoc he wreaked in Gotham BEFORE the climax of TDK!
But…back to the Riddler. I'd like to see Nolan concentrate on this character--someone
who creates chaos, but does so through elaborate scientific riddles. Almost like the
Simon character in Die Hard with a Vengeance - a real thinking man's villain.
The Riddler, unfortunately, has never sat well with me. His character just never clicked. Maybe a grittier approach could change my opinion. I wouldn't rather they brought back Mr. Zsasz for more than a cameo, as his character is way too easy. It would just be this serial killer movie with Batman.
In the end, though, The Dark Knight gave me a lot of faith for this team. But I'm cynical, so I'd prefer to wait and see.
Keep it real
I want to see Talia!
Beyond that, we'll just have to wait and see...
the perfect nut to play the riddler. But, I do think they could pull it off. Or maybe Croc...
over-the-top, attention-deficit dude, but Nolan, with Depp's talents, if he is in fact the
One, could surprise us. Let's hope so!!
