Film School Rejects: Win a Copy of Watchmen: The Film Companion

  • Steve · 9 months ago
Rorschach, for the simple reason that a mask that actively changes to my mood would be awesome. Having to carry around several masks and change them every few minutes was just getting so annoying.
  • Killian · 9 months ago
Dr. Manhattan, because there's nothing more freeing than walking around in your full nuclear nude glory.
  • Joshua · 9 months ago
I'd probably be Rorschach, because I can relate to him the best. He's a loner, anti-authority, a moral absolutist...oh, and short.
  • Squeak · 9 months ago
    Rorscach for two reasons.

    1) I already have the costume; I only wish my mask could change :(
    2) A quote from page 26: "Whatever happened to him? [Captain Carnage]" "Well, he pulled it on Rorschach, and Rorschach dropped him down an elevator shaft."
  • Aleric · 9 months ago
The Comedian, because even when he was killing people he was still having fun. Oh and he smokes a lot of cigars and that half burned butt hanging out of your mouth adds the air od badness you need...lol.
  • RickyTheDragon · 9 months ago
I would be Nite Owl II. I don't know why I like him so much but I do. I think part of it is just the fact that he just seems like such a normal guy. Which is what I am. I feel like Nite Owl is could be anyone we know. The Comedian and Rorschach are amazing but I wouldn't be either one. They just aren't me. I could never be them, they have too many issues.
  • TonyRockyHorror · 9 months ago
Silk Spectre! She's smokin' hot, and I would touch myself all day long!
  • Rick Bryant · 9 months ago
    Doctor Manhattan
The wonderful powers he has, of course.
  • Patrick@ETSN · 9 months ago
Dr. Manhattan, because he is basically a god, though detached from the world his power's are unquestionable, to have the ability to create and destroy is such an incredible bearing and I would want to be him because I could never trust anyone else with that responsibility. In the book I probably would of felt like Nite Owl I did, uneasy in his presence and unsure of his capabilities, mentally that is. And plus if I got tired of the whole superhero gig, I could just join Blue Man Group.
  • Rob · 9 months ago
    Nite Owl,

The man behind this mask has it all, money and assets that make him set for life - But that's not enough, he, like me, needs to accomplish something great and is not satisfied with simply living the life. He must use his wealth and life to do something meaningful and good to help others and be a true Hero.

That sacrifice to give his life meaning and at the same time helping others is what makes me want to be him.
  • Chris · 9 months ago
I would be Night Owl II, because he gets to bang Silk Spectre II - and she's kinky as hell.
  • Peter · 9 months ago
I'd want to be Rorschach if he didn't have such a horrible childhood. So instead I would like to be Dr. Manhattan. He is the only one with any real powers, and hopefully I wouldn't lose my humanity in the process.
  • David Kruta · 9 months ago
In a world where being "super" means putting on a costume and going vigilante, Veidt has really gone the furthest, barring any suspension-of-disbelief laboratory disasters/transformations. He is the smartest man in the world, with reflexes like post-steroid-use A-Rod, the ability to glean information about the entire population of the world by watching a wall of monitors, and the uncanny ability to reason his way into anything. And I mean anything - even the destruction of New York. But I wouldn't want to be Veidt because of his evil ways, but because he is the philosopher of the story. Although Dr. Manhattan understands the universe, he cannot even begin to comprehend the meaning of life and the greater good - which is what Veidt does constantly. I believe a different timeline would have given Veidt a wholly different outlook on humanity, and although he slipped into madness, he might have been one of the great minds of history.
  • Pamster · 9 months ago
Wow, this is hard because all of them have such merits and drawbacks. I think if I really had to be any of them it would have to be Silk Spectre I, Sally Jupiter. Because she was a very kickass woman at a time when most women didn't even work outside the home. She was tough & sexy. And she's still alive at the end. :)
  • Thomas Semesky · 9 months ago
I would be a new character, fotoRUNNER! Able to see and record the future, while running against time to prevent evil deeds before it happens, against innocent victims.
  • Alex · 9 months ago
I would definitely have to be Dr. Manhattan solely because of the ability to walk around naked as Iplease when I don't wear my v-line type underwear.....haha but seriously the sheer fact that he can become a God by creating and destroying whatever he pleases but attempts to avoid that and detach himself from the world to avoid abusing this power. I think it is avery hard task for anyone to do knowing that anyone would do anything to have such powers. Granted, Ozymandias is more connected with human nature and knows what is good for the people in his own maniacal way, you cannot deny the fact that Dr. Manhattan could easily just jump in and stop anything that could quite possibly change the course of events for the worse. Who else is able to withstand from getting involved in trying to change an event that he already knew from understanding the universe and what not and not feel terrible for not being able to stop it? He came to a point in his crimefighting career where he realized when he was needed and when he realizes that he should step out of the limelight and finally let things run its course. Anyone else would have thought otherwise and kept on interfering with the course of events.
  • Jeremy_M · 9 months ago
On one hand i'd like to live on mars and teleport wherever I want..

and on the other hand i'd like to stink allot, break into peoples houses, and eat their canned beans..

I guess Rorschach has the upper-hand.
  • The Hey · 9 months ago
I would be Nite Owl. Basically a decent person that wants to do right.
Boring answer I know but to me he's the best person in the story.
  • tk. · 9 months ago
Ozymandias-- the man with the plan.
  • Craig_Grobler · 9 months ago
Comedian. C'mon he is way cooler than any of the other pretentious do gooders. There was no ambiguity in his world - it was all very clear albeit misguided. Kicking ass and taking names the old skool way. Granted he had some issues to work out with the ladies.
  • Evey W · 9 months ago
Silk Spectre I; there's just something about that retro glam to it all. And staying that coiffed when kicking ass (sorta) is great.
  • Darren Perleberg · 9 months ago
Nite Owl, because he's like Batman. And Batman is my favorite superhero.
  • Walter · 9 months ago
    Rorschach
  • Julie · 9 months ago
Definitely Dr. Manhattan, because he has real powers.
  • Brian Mills · 9 months ago
Rorschach, no question. He breaks problems down to there simplest terms. He does what needs to be done to to deal with it without waivering or second guessing himself. He's not trying to run humanity like Ozymandais. He's not disconnected from the world like Dr. Manhatten. He's not just trying to carry on a tradition someone else started like Nite Owl. He's not trying to live up to someone elses expectations like Silk Spectre. He's not an amoral sadist like the Comedian. Rorschach has his own code he lives by and that he judges others by. He has no compassion, gives no compassion and expects no compassion from anyone on the the wrong side of his moral compass. He knows what is wrong. He knows how to right it, and he has fear. He is a combination Batman, Daredevil, and Wolverine
  • flameyheadgear · 9 months ago
    The Comedian.
  • curt · 9 months ago
I would wanna be one of the originals. Hooded Justice or Dollar Bill of the Minutemen. Probably Hooded Justice because Dollar Bill gets waxed. The Comedian is pretty badass too but he also gets waxed.
  • Glen · 9 months ago
I would probably have to go Rorschach, Mostly because I like the idea of having a mask that changes depending what mood I am in. Although in a fight they will probably know if they were winning when my face changes from cool and confident to scared and worried.
  • Chuck · 9 months ago
Hooded Justice! The first of the "super powers." ... and his costume was so cool. Tough enough to wear a noose around his own neck!
  • Jayson · 9 months ago
Rorschach. Didn't compromise. Can appreciate that these days.
  • ashley · 9 months ago
I'd be Rorschach because I love how he sticks by his morals no matter what he faces. "Not even in the face of Armageddon. Never compromise." is one of my favorite quotes of all time, and really describes what I like about him. He doesn't allow himself to be clouded by emotion or the people around him, he only sees right and wrong, black and white. After finishing the graphic novel Rorschach's story stayed with me the longest. Plus he does get to fight random thugs with aersol cans and fire, which is never bad.
  • Hamid Sarkarati · 9 months ago
Ozymandus. Adrien Veidt has power, wealth, and the world in his hands. Sure it corrupts him but I wouldn't make the same mistakes (yeah right).
  • Kangaroo Be Stoned · 9 months ago
I would choose to be Nite Owl. Dan gets all of the cool stuff. He has the awesome ship and he gets the babe Silk Spectre.
  • Jon · 9 months ago
Rorschach. Despite his lack of anything spectacular, he's the most morally uncompromising. A rarity. Plus the mask and coat.
  • Landon Johnson · 9 months ago
    Dr. Manhattan, sans radiation.

He can friggin' do anything, and though Rorscach is cool as hell, Manhattan is the super hero.
  • Mike D · 9 months ago
I'd be Dr. Manhattan. The power to do practically anything is something I simply can't pass up.
  • Navo · 9 months ago
I'd be Bubastis. A genetically engineered lynx? Badass in every way possible.
  • Mike · 9 months ago
I would be Dan Dreiberg aka the Night Owl II. He and I look a lot a like, what with both of us out of shape, wearing glasses and unmanagable hair. Looks aside we both know what we want in the world, but are too scared to go for it. Also we know the women we want to be with but never make a move. Dan and I are very much alike.
  • djjeffhall · 9 months ago
"If you could be any of the characters (costumed heroes) from Watchmen, who would you be and why?" - Adrian Veidt. Despite his base actions, his motives were pure.
  • D-Rock · 9 months ago
Nite Owl II, because he's just a loyal chill kind of guy. I'd be Nite Owl I if there wasn't all that pansy writing Under the Hood crap.
  • nan28 · 9 months ago
I would have to go with Rorschach. He never had any doubt behind anything he did or thought. While he may not have the power to truly understand the world and/or universe as in the cases of Dr. Manhattan or Ozymandias, he still knew exactly what was right and wrong. In his own narrow-minded way he only knew what he thought was necessary. He was always sure of himself because he didn't waste his time and energy trying to comprehend the future or the past. He lived in the present and that was his entire world.

It is his ability to live for the here and now and with no compromises that I admire most.
  • Yaanu · 9 months ago
If I were to become a Costumed Hero, I would want to be Rorschach for a few reasons. One, tolerance to extreme cold. Two, strength above that of a normal human. Three, that nifty costume. Never before has a trench coat, striped pants, and a fedora looked so good together. Four, the mask. Who wouldn't want a mask like that?

Anyway, that's my entry. If I could do non-human heroes, I'd do pre-Keene Act Dr. Manhattan. He wore pants then.
  • Sami A. · 9 months ago
Rorschach just because he's a total badass.
  • Daniel S. · 9 months ago
Dr. Manhattan- pants just ruin all of the fun.
  • Chille · 9 months ago
Nite Owl II becasue he's badass but he's still very sensible
  • guest · 9 months ago
Dr. Manhattan, for his all his powers and wisdom, maybe minus the arrogance.
  • Bonnie · 9 months ago
Totally Rorchach. Just having that ever changing mask make everything more fun. He fights for whats right (even though he's slightly crazy) and is made of awesome. Nothing else compares.
  • Leonkennedy · 9 months ago
    Dr. Manhatten

Being able to Understand The laws of physics and taking apart anything that man or nature has built.
    simply such an amazing character.
  • Troy · 9 months ago
    Rorschach

simple reason. He rocks. A little extreme in his methods and fanatical punishing of 'the bad guys'
But hey, he gets the job done.
  • Syd · 9 months ago
Definitely Ozymandias. Being the smartest person in the world opens a lot of doors. And I'd get to deliver great lines like "I did it thirty-five minutes ago." Gold.
  • TheGuyInThePJs · 9 months ago
    Dr. Manhatten -

All the power in the world... No Pants. No way I choose any other character, sorry Rorschach.
  • Pete · 9 months ago
Silk Spectre because I think it'd be fun to be a women. Only I'd wear less of an outfit. bitches
  • jason fiske · 9 months ago
Just call me Dr. Manhatten....savior of mankind. I would love to be able to act like him.
  • Joseph McDevitt · 9 months ago
I would like to be night owl. rorschach would be cool, but sanity is important to me as well.
  • Eric · 9 months ago
Night Owl II because most of the other ones have massive mental problems. Night Owl seems to be the most mentally sound out of all of them and he has all those cool batman like gadgets.
  • Navs · 9 months ago
Rorsarch, do I need a reason?
  • John Strickland · 9 months ago
Dr. Manhattan. Blowing up Viet Cong while my giant blue balls flow in the breeze? Yes.
  • Jordan Scott · 9 months ago
I thought about this for a while because my initial reaction was Rorschach, but I knew everyone was probably going to do Rorschach. Well I ended up coming back to him, but not for the reasons most people would. I love the depth of Rorschach's character. I love the way he became his alter ego in every sense of the word. I hear people describing him as crazy all the time, but he wasn't crazy. He knew exactly what he was doing and was in complete control. He calmly describes to Dr. Long how he was transformed into Rorschach from Kovacs. He knew the exact point that it happened. And despite what it seems it wasn't because he went crazy it was because he no longer wanted to be associated with a species that would do such horrible things to one another. That seems more sane then most of the characters in the book. He was determined to stop crime no matter what. Now dressing up as a costumed hero likely requires a little bit of insanity in the first place, but Rorschach was, for the most part, sane. And yes he was really awesome.
  • Shaun Wallner · 9 months ago
I would be Dr. Manhattan because he is the Shiz - Nae!!!
  • Segerstrami · 9 months ago
Mothman. Then I could have convulsions when I grow old! Yay!
  • justin · 9 months ago
    Hooded Justice
He was the original. He is more of an icon in the series then any other character could and would be. Hooded was what all the heroes were aspiring to become. Plus whats more menacing then getting your ass kicked by a huge dude with a noose around his neck.
  • Ken Robinson · 9 months ago
I would be The Comedian. Ha, ha, ha. Please accept my entry. Thank you.
  • Adam_Sweeney · 9 months ago
Where are all you little loving monkeys when stories are being reported? :)
  • Brent Peconi · 9 months ago
The Comedian. Its simple/accurate/worldy and he makes me feel like hes the man in control - but hes really just swirling out of control.

And he does it all with a smile!
  • Davidmadafaka · 9 months ago
I wish to be The Comedian, I would have the pleasure of being an asshole and still be able to redeem myself.

Me being awfully terrifed of death. Mostly because I don't want to leave a worthless life, legacy behind. If I'm gonna die it has to mean something or to be for something. As The Comedian my death would be a sacrifice, it would have meaning people could then look back at my life and see my as the Jesus Christ of Superheroes died for all the Superheroes sins!

No doubt it would be Doctor Manhattan/Doctor Jonathan Osterman, it would just be hard to walk around town without being noticed.
  • Nathan · 9 months ago
Ozymandis. The ultimate Utilitarian. He is like John Stuart Mills with the power to kick your butt.
  • Jay · 9 months ago
Manhattan, he is a baller and lives on Mars! Come on!!
  • Dustin · 9 months ago
I would be Ozymandias. Simply because of his motives in the novel. In order to save ourselves from chaos we have to create it. Plus, he's the smartest man alive, he's wealthy, and he has the power to make a lynx. Did I mention the fact that he can spy on the whole world?
  • cec · 9 months ago
    Rorschach
He seems to be having a blast!

Mr. Manhatten. The amazing power to do what he wants.I am a subscriber
  • Gina Stratos · 9 months ago
    Silk Spectre ..... smokin' hot
  • Tamara Burks · 9 months ago
Rorschach. He's supremely screwed up yet he still manages to function at his primary purpose in life...that of a vigilante. As a misfit myself I can identify with him. I even have a cat named after him, it has birth defects that make its front legs crooked and it'll never be any bigger than a 9 month old kitten but he's adapted and rolled with it.
  • Angela J · 9 months ago

Rorschach. Just to see how people butcher the pronunciation of my name.
  • Michael Paul · 9 months ago
Dr. Manhattan, because REAL superpowers would be cool...
  • Judy · 9 months ago
I would be Nite Owl II. In addition to being the least messed up in the head, he has the most killer ship that really beats all others. He is also the most humane and sensible character--maybe not the most interesting but definitely someone I could handle being for at least a day (anyone else: no. I'm too much of a pansy to handle their problems).
  • nicka · 9 months ago
All the Watchmen characters other than Dr.Manhattan are merely playing dress-up with no real supernatural powers. Dr.Manhattan has unlocked the mysteries of the universe.Imagine visiting another planet or communicating with another lifeform in another universe! He can do all these things and more.It is said that "with great powers comes great responsibilities".A most fitting description for the greatest of the Watchmen,Dr.Manhattan!
  • lucky · 9 months ago
Ozymandias is my pick because he is the true misunderstood hero.He alone saved the world from itself by brilliantly creating chaos and destruction, sacrificing some for the good of all!

Nite Owl. I feel he has the most humanity and he is the character I can best relate to. Thank you for the chance to win.
  • Matt Cohen · 9 months ago
I would be Night Owl so I could get in on with the Silk Spectre.
  • Wei Wang · 9 months ago
Silk Spectre I or II because I would take naked pictures of myself and post it on the Internet.

Wait, they didn't have Internet back then.
  • Pamela S · 9 months ago
I'd be Dr. Manhattan because he has the most amazing powers in my opinion!!!
  • Ed Nemmers · 9 months ago
The Comedian; it would be the closest to being Jeffrey Dean Morgan!
  • Mark W · 9 months ago
I would be Night Owl II
  • Interloper · 9 months ago
I'd pick Rorshach. I think it would be cool to have a face that constantly changes
  • Geoff K · 9 months ago
I would have to choose Ozymandias, for I too have an Alexander the Great complex and often find myself looking down on the rest of humanity ;)
  • Jason · 9 months ago
Dr. Manhattan all the way. If I can just go to Mars, create a whole new place to live there, and come back whenever I choose to, what a time. It would be fun to have the ability to manipulate molecules. I would change myself a different color though
  • Buddy Garrett · 9 months ago
Rorschach because he id the coolest-a loner who does things his own way. His character suits mine.
  • Thomas Hoh · 9 months ago
    Dr. Manhattan....mysterious, powerful

    Nite Owl is the BEST!

Gotta be Rorschach. Beyond extreme in his methods(and even House would think he's too misanthropic), but they tend to work
  • Floyd Jenks · 9 months ago
Night owl is sexy...need I say more?
  • Lily Kwan · 9 months ago
    Rorscach, because he's cool
  • matt · 9 months ago
With the obvious exception of Dr. Manhatten (not a costumed hero....dosen't count)

New Night Owl. Least messed up of the bunch. Gets to lay Silk Spectre. I'm in.
Although i'm only on chapter 8, so it could change things.
  • Leo T · 9 months ago
Rorschach... he is the only one close enough to Captain A (( and I believe is really Ayn Rand under the mask =))
  • choisol · 5 months ago
    Comedian!
