Speed Racer,,,,, was ahead of its time!!!!!
Great movie!!!!!
reviews that the movie wasn't upto scratch. Boy was I thrilled. The wachowski
Brothers did it again. The colours, the races. It was one hell of a ride.
And Racer X jump-jacking into another car and punching the driver's face, priceless! Not to mention the fight-scenes were silly and definitively cartoonish, which is how they should be. Pssh, forget what the critics said about this movie...
Wow,,,, look at all the positive comments on Speed Racer !!!!!!!! I could use your help over at Sreen Rant, I'm like the only Speed Racer fan over there. ;-)
Hey Bowza,,, if you listen carefully,,, the sound effect for the jump jacks is....."jump-jump-jump-jump" but its done real fast, and they run it thru a sound processor.
Speed Racer,,, one of the best films in 2008. Just a fun ol time.
Spritle almost steals the film. Ricci was smoking hot.
I also enjoyed a lot of the smaller character rolls, most outstanding was John Goodman's role and of course Chimp-Chimp! <3
perhaps the ninjas? Anyway, I'm with everyone else who thinks it's too bad this movie didn't
do better. I thought it was thoroughly enjoyable and well worth the money spent to see it
on imax.

The trailer was pretty freaking awesome though.

I also liked when they revealed that Rex was Racer X. I already knew who he was, but it was still a very emotionally charged part, and i enjoyed it.
There's even Parana fish in the film.
Its great.
That being said: I saw it on opening night with a friend, and actually got tears in my eyes during the final seconds of the Grand Prix race! It was as if the Wachowski Bros had extracted all the best moments of my childhood dreams - and turned them into this beautiful, wild and electric scene. While all of the races in the movie are incredible, (and the end is completely predicitable) ... Who cares?
It is as it should be: PERFECT.
The colors, the style and that baaaaaaaaaaaadazzzzzzzzz wobbly one wheel "landing" had me out of my seat ! Insanely joyous and triumphant.
During that screening, the theater erupted with applause at that moment!
Just awesome. =)
With all the tough-guy cliches and "muddled dark heroes" paraded in front of us this year -- three cheers for this little gem of a movie; it dared to be different, it celebrated family and truth and Good (and MILK!).... and truly ...
--- it was what every kid scooting around on the floor with Hot Wheels dreams of.
Racer for the win, man. Hell to the yeah...

And yeah that theme song at the end made me feel like I was 6 years old.

And the Grand Prix, that was amazing.
Speed (Emile Hirsch) and his family are at the Casa Cristo 5000 and it is the night before the second leg of the race. Speed is oblivious to what lies ahead. A gang of NINJAS break into the hotel room and Speed and his dad (John Goodman) are left to fend for themselves in an effort to protect Speed's racing dreams and their family. Action pursues and Goodman and Hirsch leave a pile of pained NINJAS lying in the hotel room floor. Speed's younger brother walks back into the room and utters, "Is that a NINJA?" Goodman retorts, "More like a NON-JA!" Classic Wachowski writing and the BEST part of the film!
What's with all these ppl that didn't see this movie in the theatres ????? :-( ya didn't help out ??
If more ppl would have seen Speed Racer, we would be getting a 2 disc dvd collettors edtion!! Maybe with some added Footage !!! Damn !

because it reminds me of my best friend's incredibly short attention span.
