Film School Rejects: We Have No Idea What Ridley Scott is Talking About

Actually... there is a lot of scientific proof that Ebola did come from a cave in Kinshasa. There was at least one expedition to find and recover the original source. The cave is not "natural" having been carved by elephants looking for salt. While I know little about elephants this interesting fact was just fascinating to me. Anyway the cave took thousands of years to carve and with, over time, elephants dying in there, bringing outside biological material and so forth I suppose it is possible a virus could form.

Scott isn't too far off. While the science is inconclusive on global warming (not that the Earth is getting warmer (it is) but that the blame can be laid at Man's feet) The thing is polluting less has many benefits. So I think his heart is in the right place even if his grasp of why he should be doing these things isn't.

As for the Andromeda Strain, I felt it wasn't a great effort and well beneath his skills as a directory. Parts of it were classic Grade B Sci-fi. Thankfully he saved himself with "The Company" - it was dead on, well done, easily one of his best and most important works.
