Film School Rejects: WALL-E is Good, But Not One of Pixar’s Best

In response to your question, it's important to remember that the message to cancel
operation Re-colonize was only sent to the auto pilots. And since the Axiom was the jewel
crown of the fleet, in order to keep that image that Buy-N-Large was still in the interests if
the people the EVE probes were probably continued to be sent out to look for vegetation to
keep the early crew members and passengers in the dark with false hopes. However, after
being kept out of the loop for 700 years, I'm sure the descendants of the early passengers
eventually lost all knowledge that they were supposed to return to earth at some point. Such
as the Captain, who knew the EVE probes were sent out but never expected anything to
come of it. It became a tradition/ritual more than an actual search for a way back home.

That's a reasonable, well thoughtout counterpoint. Well done. Maybe I'll have to see it again with that in mind.

I couldn't agree more with everything said. Good film, but certainly not great.

Wall-E totally looks like the robot from "Short Circuit"... minus the cheesy 80's style of course
