Film School Rejects: Venom Movie Takes Shape But Still A Bit Formless

  • McQueer · 7 months ago
Reboot, ignore what happened in Spidey three, kick Topher to the curb.

Cover the fact that Venom views himself as the good guy, but is the Mr. Hyde to Spidey's Dr. Jeckyl.

Make Venom unable to turn back into a human.

Don't make the story about terrorism in any way.

Make Carnage the bad guy, because he is much more evil than venom ever was.

Make Venom large, he was about the same size as spidey in Spidey 3 and that's ridiculous, he's supposed to weigh about 600 pounds because Eddie was a shitload beefier than Parker and wanted to be even bigger then he was, the symbiote would enable this wish.

rule #1: immediately stop production on this sure-to-be awful movie.

i agree with you Eugene this movie has a bad vibe going it dosent seem like it should be done i mean how is this going to be done a bad guy movie it doesnt seem right especially when spiderman is'nt going to be in it. I dont know it seems confusing and wrong like an unholy thing to all fans so i dont think this will ever happen no matter how much everyone wants it

And that comment left me look quite as geeky as I truly am.

    1. No Eric from That '70s show.

    2. No emo anything.

    3. No dance numbers.
  • Matt · 7 months ago
1 Sit down and think about what a shitty movie Spidey 3 was
    2 Try to avoid this
    3 No Dancing
4 Dont make it a spin off. A Spin off would acknowledge Spider-Man 3s existence. Unacceptable.
5 Think about rule #3 really closely. Try to figure out why this wouldnt work

it would be really cool to talk about where the symbiot came from talk about the orgin, where in space did it come from, and how it got to earth. Then lead it back to Eddie Brock.

Venom is a complex character and deserves to acknowledged. so 1) No Topher Grace 2) Tell the story from Eddie Brocks and The symbiotes eyes. 3) If you do carnage for GODS SAKE start off the movie in a Insane Asylum cause you can tie it together well from a story board perspective.

What about having it start off with eddie brock in prison next to kassidy
when the symbiote comes back for brock and some sticks with kassidy for the creation of carnage
and then the movies moves on from there?
this way it stays true to the origins of carnage and doesn't completely start from scratch for venom
it doesn't completely ignore that crap people saw in spidey 3 (which was probably one of the rules they were talking about with the script)
but it can also not mention it so the people that know the venom character can have their true origin

Venom is a great character. Don't waste him.
  • Trey Black · 7 months ago
    1. Cast Hank Azaria as Venom. He's beastly, voiced him in the cartoon, and looks like Brock
    2. Do not acknowledge Spider-Man 3. Have him actually praying for forgiveness of suicide, instead of toning it down for kids.
    3. DO NOT include any other symbiotes besides Carnage, as it will turn into one of those "hunt them down one by one" movies. Boring and predictable.
    4. NO SCREECHING, must refer to himself as "we"
    5. Make spider on chest more pronounced than in Spider-Man 3.

    - No Toby, no contacts, no sharp dentures (the symbiote changed its appearance, not Brock)
    - Must be bigger
    - Must refer to himself as "we"
    - Symbiote must change to clothes / disguise (at least once)
    - Symbiote must play [incite] Brock's emotions (thats what it feeds on to survive)
    - Must be thriller / action / Sci-fi genre

If they include Spider-Man in the movie, then the symbiote must not set off his "spider-sense". Maybe throw in a little symbiote "joy-riding" while Brock is fast asleep and / or inner conflicts / conversations between the symbiote and Brock.

They should make a Venom movie (Spider-Man Origins: Venom). Just get someone who is bulkier, and make it really act like Venom (like Venom saying "we" and "us"). Also have a villian (EXAMPLE: Carnage, but he might be in Spider-Man 4).
