Film School Rejects: Twilight Takes a $70 Million Dollar Bite Out of the Box Office

How can you act like "fangirls" is a new term? It's been around just as long as fanboy, which is to say, around the time the internet was born if not sooner.

I know I've been using it since at least 1998 or so. You can't coin a term that already exists and is in popular usage. Maybe the mainstream media has discovered it, but "coin?" Hardly.

Thank you, Elizabeth! In no way is "fangirl" a new term. I've identified with being a fangirl for as long as I can remember and its REAL meaning is the female version of "fanboy", not a girl who likes Twilight. Read comics? Like sci fi? Then you're a fangirl. Come on now.

Well Twilight did way better I thought it would. I thought it would top out at 50mil. I don't think it'll have staying power over the next couple of weeks, but hey, Summit just made back every dollar spent. Bravo for them.

How can something 'defy predictions' 'as expected'?
  • Maria · 12 months ago
My opinion of the defiance of what critics say is the popularity of the books to begin with; the books were really good, so there will obviously be extreme curiosity about the movie
