Boiling Point: Twilight
I couldn't believe when i read what had happened at this signing. While it's a given that teenage girls have always been a little bonkers, (note music history: Beatles, New Kids, Backstreet Boys, etc.) I would have thought Twilight fans would be a little more controlled. I mean, this isn't a music act after all...it was an actor who was signing shirts from movie based on a book that hasn't even come out yet. It's fans who cause moments like these that give the rest of us, in the said shared fandom, a bad name.
While, at the same time it must be said, given the worldwide fan reception, (note: Mexico, Rome,) you would think that Summit (or whoever is running this show) would know enough to hire more security. Or at least have warned the Hot Topics and Malls involved to hire security. I mean, did they really only expect only 200-500 people to show up to this thing?
And i must state, again, when it comes to Twilight fans, the majority of us look shamefully upon this incident. Honestly, watching this thing unfold, while slightly funny... but considering people were actually hurt because of other people's utter stupidity over the moment... was total secondhand embarrassment.
P.S.
It's about time, however, the world realizes that girls, (let alone teenage girls) are a force all our own.
