Film School Rejects: The Ten Best Films of Sundance ‘08

    I have to disagree with "Be Kind Rewind" . The movie is by far the least "accessible" of all Gondry's films. If by accessible you mean access to watch Gondry masturbate with himself, then it's spot on.

    The "Bitch" in American Teen lived across the street from my parents during this filming and was a good friend with my sister. She's actually a very nice girl in real life. She told us about how much of it was faked (staged fights and then re shooting if a shot was missed) so don't expect "reality". She was, however, over at my parents house on prom night and my parents had to sign a waiver to be used in the movie. I just want to see it to see if they used the footage and to see how much of a goofball they made my dad look like.

    Saw the Wackness.. it's a top film! Amazing performances from all of the cast and awesome raw writing! What's not to like about a dealer exchanging pot for psychiatry sessions?

    subcorpus are you serious? do you even know what a film festival is?
  • marco · 1 year ago
    @subcorpus
    @amanda

    Hahaha. Thats funny. Subcorpus, a Film Festival is a Festival where people can go and present their Films. Distributors and the public can watch them there, and often decide to buy the rights at such events.

    What's this Dr. crap about Hunter S Thompson. He's a high school graduate. That's
    it.

    @Marc

    From Wikipedia:

    "In the late sixties, Thompson also obtained his famous title of "Doctor" from the Universal Life Church.[13] He later preferred to be called Dr. Thompson, and his "alter-ego" Raoul Duke called himself a "doctor of journalism"."

    just wondering: isn't the movie you refer to as "towelhead" officially titled Nothing Is Private?
  • Neil Miller · 1 year ago
    Yes. 'Towelhead' was called 'Nothing is Private' when it played at the Toronto Film Festival
    last year.

    now i dont want to sound like a fool but subcorpus asked a valid question, i have seen previews for "be kind rewind" but others that i would very much like to see.. basically everything else on the list, ive never heard of outside of this forum, so i ask again.. is there any way to watch these movies without actually having to GO to one of these film festivals?
  • Neil Miller · 1 year ago
    Justin,

    Keep an eye out here on FSR, as we will be updating you when these movies get release
    dates. Not all of them have planned releases yet, as they have just been purchased by
    studios.
