The Catholic Church needs to get over itself and realize they are the fastest declining religion on the face of the earth.

You need to get over "yourself"! Show some respect! As for Dan Brown - he needs to "get over himself" - the guy sits in the frozen snow making up stories that disrepect one's faith - no seceret Brown boy made up the entire story to make some $$$$ cash - and he did a good job at that - but as for showing respect he completely fails as a person - Brown and his wife should attempt this on the muslim faith - yea that would go over well

Typical religious response. Don't insult their invisible friend. Actually, this inspires me to film make a film showing the likeness of Mohammad or filming a noble man marrying a a lower caste breaking his arranged marriage. ANARCHY!

I'm not sure why there's any surprise or indignation over this announcement. I mean, why on earth WOULD Catholic churches let the filmmakers in? "Hi, we're making a movie that implies your belief system is wrong and that your churches are run by murdering mafiosos. Can we shoot here?"

They have every right to make the movie, but it's beyond arrogant stupidity to expect Catholic churches to help them out.

I think that the catholic church has a good reason for not allowing a film that shows (spoiler alert) a cardinal murdering other cardinals under the guise of a religious extremist whose paraphernalia was kept in the pope's secret hiding hole and kills the pope who was his father.

Honestly though, would you expect a mosque's imam to allow a movie to be filmed where followers of Islam are portrayed as Jihad loving terrorists inside? No, you wouldn't, so why would you expect them to allow this? The Da Vinci Code movies DO undermine the faith and try to make it as a conspiracy, so whether the books are right or wrong, there is nothing wrong this decision. Maybe Tom Hanks should take some of that movie and invest in a green screen or a set.

We can all agree that different people have different perspectives and different viewpoints.

But when someone calls a film that grossed over $700 million world-wide as a "flop", that person obviously has no clue of he or she is talking about.

Dan Brown? What are you thinking? A Catholic boy gone bad? A BIG story made up in the idea of creating discussion? The fastest declining religion on the face of the earth? Is there someone keeping score? What a Joke! Dan Brown made up the whole thing - pretty simple, get over it. As for the Catholic Church one should hold high respect for ALL religions and peoples faith.
