Film School Rejects: The Movie Watcher’s Guide to Pixar

  • Davebaxter1989 · 6 months ago
    I've got to say I really love A Bugs Life. Maybe it's because I was 9 and adored Toy Story so I was already converted. I will try the impossible though and shoot with a ranking;

    9-Cars
    8-Finding Nemo
    7-Ratatouille
    6-Monsters Inc
    5-Toy Story 2
    4-A Bugs Life
    3-The Incredibles
    2-Wall-E
    1-Toy Story

That was very hard and I do truly love them all.

I like when people rank the Pixar films for two reasons. One: because we all know them, it's not like ranking top indie movies. Two: I like to see what people's tastes are. With that in mind, here's mine.

    9. Cars
    8. Ratatouille
    7. WALL-E
    6. A Bug's Life (although 7. & 6. are interchangeable)
    5. Finding Nemo
    4. Toy Story
    3. Toy Story 2
    2. Monster's Inc.
    1. The Incredibles

The only problem have is that I can't put Cars at 100. It does not deserve to be next to Ratatouille.

I ranked it 8th on my "Pixar" list, but that doesn't paint the total picture, it's still a GREAT movie.

Whatever happened to Bolt? I personally would've picked Bolt over talking 'Cars'.
  • Davebaxter1989 · 6 months ago
Well Bolt wasn't Pixar. Great movie but in my opinion doesn't touch even Cars.

"Shrek series being the only other CGI franchise to out-gross a Pixar film."

    You forgot another.

It's awesome how consistent Pixar is when it comes to their films. I am very excited to see UP!

    9. Cars
    8. A Bug's Life
    7. Finding Nemo
    6. Toy Story
    5. Toy Story 2
    4. WALL-E
    3. Ratatouille
    2. The Incredibles
    1. Monster's Inc.

Wow, that was really difficult because there are so many things I love about each of those movies aside from Cars, which I really didn't love anything about that movie. I still put Monster's Inc. at the top though it's a tough call with The Incredibles. What it boils down to is I cannot get enough of those of monsters and the fact that I swear monsters DID live under my bed and in my closet as a kid.

    9- bugs life
    8- cars
    7- wall-e
    6- toy story 2
    5- ratatouille
    4- finding nemo
    3- the incredibles
    2- toy story
    1- monsters Inc.
Unlike others, I really wasn't all that impressed by walle. Plus I kind of hated the live action bits. It didn't fit and the movie was somewhat preachy. Bugs life just doesn't have the energy or style or character of the rest. Cars was neodisney not really pixar in my views and I LOVED monsters Inc. It was almost impossible to put it above toy story though.

I haven't seen Up yet but of all the films Pixar has made, I only like four of them. Four.
