Sounds like my kind of movie! Something gritty, honest, and definitely thought-provoking and thought-challenging. And you came to the right conclusion...entertainment doesn't have to come with a moral conclusion or final message. I like my "information" in its most basic form: just information. Then, we're left with the tools to continue to formulate our own opinions and ideals. ;)

I saw this movie a couple hours ago and it was so sad, but it was one of the best I've ever seen! The Sprouse brothers are also my favorite actors! It is a heartbreaking tale, but reminds you what horrors go on in the world. It's definetely a deep movie.
