Film School Rejects: The 25 Most Anticipated Movies of 2009

  • Adam · 10 months ago
Am I the only one who thinks that Mark Ruffalo just never seems to look the part in most roles he plays? If I’m the only one I’ll shut up.

Good list all around though, looking forward to most of these movies. However tell me that Mr. Tenika is wrong about Bitch Slap not being rated R. If so it then kind of remindes me of that DOA movie, only with big guns, and no Kevin Nash. Geesh you gotta hate/love when they put 3 hot women in a "B" style movie and then just tease the watcher the whole time. Those bastards.
  • Tenika · 10 months ago
I think he said it is PG-13 which really sucks. As I stated before when boobs are the focal point of a film, make the film rated R! I'm a fan of gratuitous nudity when the film doesn't take it self too seriously.
By the way I'm a girl lol and my college minor is Women Studies. Go figure :)
  • Adam · 10 months ago
    Go figure indeed.

Well who would of thought bumping into a girl who is all about gratuitous nudity in movies who also as a minor in Women Studies? Only on FSR.

    I like your style Tenika.
  • ANGRYBROOMSTICK · 10 months ago
I look forward to most of these films, especially "Where the Wild Things are," "Fantastic Mr. Fox" and Harry Potter... and the Bollywood movie, "Chandni Chowk to China."

    hahahahaha
  • CaptainReg0981 · 10 months ago
Everything looks good guys can't wait for Watchmen and Wolverine.
  • Tenika · 10 months ago
What?!? No love for G.I. Joe? Hahaha. You KNOW I'm kidding. Although I am curious to see how it turns out. I've heard of most of these and am really excited for 2009 movies! Especially the one with the girls with the big boobs. Too bad it's not rated R.
  • M-O · 10 months ago
Drag Me to Hell would have been an honorable metion, to say the least.
  • danny · 10 months ago
I saw Taken and although it does have some good action, the first 45-50 minutes of the movie felt slow. All that time just to get to know the main character. Then it got better. Hope they re-edit the beginning a bit.
  • RobertFure · 10 months ago
GI Joe is on our list of "Expected Ipecac." Actually we weren't writing that list, but that is a clever title. Damn. For those not in the know Ipecac syrup causes uncontrollable vomiting.
  • Steve · 10 months ago
How about "Push?" The trailer looked great.
  • ererer · 10 months ago
Push looks basically like a complete ripoff of the storyline from the movie "serenity". What a joke.
  • Josh_Radde · 10 months ago
You guys totally forgot the new Street Fighter movie starring the girl from Smallville. ADENDUMS! I REQUIRE ADENDUMS!
  • Jud · 10 months ago
Watchmen is my most anticipated...with F13 at a close close second, and Transformers 2 coming in at 3rd. The most interesting release has to be Avatar, I have no clue what the hell to expect here, but I can't wait to find out. Oh, and Cameron has made a bad movie, its called the Abyss and its retarded and makes no sense.
  • UJustin · 10 months ago
Agree with most on list... Although the remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre was awful, and I fear the same will happen with Friday 13th... maybe hollywood should try being, I don't know.. creative and original?
  • Nevernude · 10 months ago
    Terminator Salvation!!
My checklist for any movie: Bale, Bale, Bale, Bale, Bale!

i agree with you guys, i would totally watch the guy paint a fence!
  • Lex · 10 months ago
Um.. Have yall not heard about 2012? Looks kickass.
  • RobertFure · 10 months ago
They've got to bring more than tidal waves to impress me. Like tidal waves and boobs.
  • DMuff · 10 months ago
I would like to say it's a good list but Public Enemies by the well respected Michael Mann which is also starring Christian Bale only gets a small honorable mention? You guys are mad.

Oh yeah, I've never seen a Harry Potter movie either. Never got around to it I suppose.
  • David G · 10 months ago
Agreed. Public Enemies should replace one of three less than formidable films on the list. Funny People? Seriously...
  • Jay Beezy · 10 months ago
What are you talking about? Funny People is going to be awesome. Why would you have Public Enemies replace Funny People on the list instead of a crappy remake like Friday the 13th? Not an Apatow fan?
  • Nevernude · 10 months ago
Yes, it really looks kickass. Great explosions. badass fights. great dialogue..and best of all, the tidal waves are played are Christian Bale!
  • Liz · 10 months ago
Producer for 9 = Tim Burton. Probably worth a mention!
  • Liz · 10 months ago
Also, you mention MBV being remade in 3D, but Coraline is 3D as well!
  • phrenetik · 10 months ago
Lol in the pic for Inglorious Basterds I thought that Brad Pitt was actually Eric Dane for a moment there!

I dunno about everyone else but I'm really excited about the way comedy crime capers (Burn for Reading, anyone?) are making a noticeable appearance. I just gotta check out The Brothers Bloom and This Side of Truth for that reason alone. I don't know what your opinions about Adam Sandler is, but I'm tired of him and his brand of comedy. It just isn't that funny at all and I wish he would do a movie that's more in the vein of Spanglish.
  • Jay Beezy · 10 months ago
I don't think you would expect to see Sandler's brand of comedy in Funny People since it's Apatow.
  • brandon · 10 months ago
I am floored by this list. 2009 looks like it could be the best year for movies in a long time, and I for one will be dropping plenty of money into the box offices this year! Tarantino, Wes Anderson, Scorsese, James Cameron....Wolverine, Where the Wild Things Are..best of all possibly is Robert Downey Jr. teaming up with Guy Ritchie. Damn I am excited
  • sir jorge · 10 months ago
I'm going to disagree with 24 of those. Ninja Assassin looks rad.
  • Kaelic · 10 months ago
You didn't highlight anything about the Dragonball movie! I feel that beats out at LEAST one other movie on here. haha
  • pelipar · 10 months ago
i love the addition of optimus prime to the 'talents' list of Transformers2. Nice touch!
  • tony · 10 months ago
i'm so exciting for ninja assassin . rain is korean pop singer but he looks so cool in flighting scene .
  • Ryan · 10 months ago
@"Oh, and Cameron has made a bad movie, its called the Abyss and its retarded and makes no sense."

The directors cut adds things were just criminal to have removed....but it is understandable because movie studios don't like 3 hour movies. If you've seen the D.C. and still think it's a bad movie, well then there's just no hope for you. The Abyss is easily in my top 10.
  • james may · 10 months ago
    pantasticol
  • james may · 10 months ago
    pelipar is a tron
  • jame · 10 months ago
    ninja assassin
  • Brittany · 10 months ago
Don't feel bad for posting lists. They're great reads and give us an idea of what will be good to see or not to see. =] Thanks!
  • Cessierose · 10 months ago
    In case you weren't informed...

    http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/news/court-finds...

Fox is, as stated, the right owners to Watchmen; thus, there is no way it will be able to come out in 2009, even if WB manages to buy the rights.

So.... hurrah to the top 24 most anticipated movies of 2009 *waves flag*
  • Beharu · 10 months ago
Cannot WAIT for Shutter Island. If you want a good mystery, this Lehane rocks! If the movie follows even close to the book, you'll sit there stunned when its over
  • Talia Clare · 10 months ago
There are at least ten movies on this list that I want to see now. Thanks for the honest review.
  • sealy mattresses · 10 months ago
wow im glad I read this cause i was going to see my bloody valentine this saturday and i kinda just assumed every theater would have it in 3-d, so i called the theater i was going to and they said they aren't having the actual 3-d, now i have to take an hour drive to the next theater that is actually doing it but at least ill be able to watch it the way it should be seen - rest of the list looks great
  • common sense · 10 months ago
    ew, awful.
  • common sense · 10 months ago
also, someone in the medical field please diagnose zack snyder's obvious severe autism. watchmen looks beyond retarded.
  • marz · 10 months ago
The actor in My Bloody Valentine is not Tom Atkins, thats the characters name in the movie, the actor is Jensen Ackles. Also, Jaime King and Kerr Smith.
  • Chris · 10 months ago
Marz.... Tom "Thrill Me" Atkins is indeed an actor's name in My Bloody Valentine. Only the single greatest actor to grace our screens. Check out Night of the Creeps, Halloween 3, The Fog, Escape From New York, Lethal Weapon, and Bruiser to see the man in action.
  • Belmos · 10 months ago
Monsters v. Aliens (March 27), what special in this movie. i hate this movie.

  • Sisko · 8 months ago
The list is great! No matter the economy problems, 2009 is the year for movies. I for one can't wait to see the following movies on opening weekend in the following order:

    1) Watchmen (never read the graphic novel, but looks sick)
    2) Wolverine (looks like a great story)
    3) Star Trek (finally an epic bad ass version of the greatest sci-fi ever)
    4) Terminator Salvation (simply bad ass alone)
    5) Transformers 2 (need I say more)
    6) G.I. Joe (looks promising. Hopefully it's not chessy)
    7) Avatar (curious to see Cameron's latest film in 12 years)

Everything else I would have to see on DVD. Not because their not good, but the economy sucks right now :) Damn it!
  • big penis man · 8 months ago
    i have a big dick
  • Twig · 8 months ago
Great list man! I am looking forward to most of the movies mentioned, especially Wolverine and Inglorius Basterds. This was the first I've heard of Bitch Slap, but after checking out the trailer I know I gotta see it :)
  • brandon · 8 months ago
