Film School Rejects: Talking Points: How Does The Dark Knight Trailer Make You Feel?

  • Nate · 1 year ago
The prologue was a bit of a mess, the trailer rocks, and Heath Ledger was an excellent choice for the joker

I was really excited about The Dark Knight in the first place, but after the trailer I can hardly wait! It seems like July is just too far away for me.

My opinion of Heath Ledger playing the joker has also changed. I was somewhat leery of him playing my favorite villain. When I watched the trailer I was convinced that he will make a GREAT joker! His laugh in particular impressed me. I think he will honestly scare people to some degree.

I was not fortunate enough to see the prologue.

Didn't watch the prologue and won't. Trailer is straight up 100% awesome. Looks like it might be able to not only do justice to the first film, but even eclipse it.

I only got to see the trailer online today, but after watching it, I'm left wondering about the Joker. I can't decide if I like him! From when Ledger was first rumoured right the way up to today, I was sure I liked the idea, but after seeing it I can't decide. Perhaps it was the cutting away from him all the time, maybe it was that I watched some of A Knight's Tale last night, whatever it is, I need to see more to make up my mind... (not a ploy at all to get more of the Dark Knight any way I can!)

I saw the prologue on IMAX and I agree that it's pretty sloppy. It didn't feel at all like Batman Begins, but maybe that's the point? Ledger will be good as the joker, I'm fully confident in that, I just hope that everything else falls in to place.

Talking Point #1: Having seen the trailer, how do you feel about The Dark Knight now?

Ehh... not to thrilled... I liked the last movie but when I discovered they were doing the Joker again I was done with it. He's already been done... and was done well... Jack Nicholson did a wonderful job capturing the colorful comic book likeness of the Joker... what's up with Hollywood wanting to make comic books realistic?

Talking Point #2: We got to see Heath Ledger finally in action as The Joker. Has your opinion of that casting choice changed any?

Not really... I still think there were better choices out there... Heath was chosen because he's a golden boy in Hollywood right now with Brokeback under his belt.

Talking Point #3: If you saw the 6-minute IMAX prologue, what did you think?

I am still not liking the whole idea of doing the Joker... there are plenty of other "could-be-real" characters in Batman that can be used. I wish they'd move on to them instead of the same old villians over and over. I was thrilled with the first movie and seeing the Scarecrow in action and especially Ras Al Ghoul.

This joker is sadistic, demonic, and wildly so entertaining!
    Ledger steals this screen.
