This is one of my favorite movies from the 80s (along with Back to the Future, of course), so suffice to say I think it's awesome.

I have to say that Ghostbusters stands out in multiple ways. I can't remember any [not many that is for sure] movie before it that focused on such a "silly" concept that achieved such success both critically and financially. I don't know if there was ever a skit like it on Saturday Night Live, but it sure seems like an early pre-cursor to that type of movie [much like Coneheads and later movies that would spring off the small screen].

Of course the magic of the three leading actors accounts for much and can not truly be quantified so I won't try here.

Ghostbusters works on all cinematic levels as well. Its timing is flawless, its not too long or too short, it builds to an apex at the peak of the last third and delivers a very satisfying climax with all that marshmallow cream.

P.S. I have to say I think I enjoyed the second one just a tiny bit better, and that would be because in my opinion the actors were able to loose them selves in the rolls they all ready new this time around...

This movie is in my top 5 of all time. I have no apologies for it either, as I can't find a single thing to complain about. The acting, effects, story, direction, etc. is all perfect in my eyes. I grew up on this movie. I even love the soundtrack. I had a Ghostbusters big wheel (two actually when I burned out the wheels on my first), I was Peter Venkman twice for Halloween, I owned the firehouse playset thing, figurines, pajamas - whatever it was I made my parents get it for me or feel the wrath of a very snotty little girl. I am a huge Bill Murray fan(atic) and think this is probably his best role ever.

But that's just my 2 cents.
