I love terminator. I can never get enough. Loved the new one just rewarched the 3rd and it's enjoyable with some pretty cool ideas, like terminating Connors future commanders. The first is dated but fun. And T2 is my all time favorite movie. My only gripe is get rid of Bale. He is horribly miscast. McG did a pretty great job with what he was given and the action was ballsy and the movie LOUD but his worst move was hiring an actor to get credibility. Bale an Nolan likely made it way to serious but this ain't Dark Night or one of Christophers serious works; it's terminator. McG clearly lacked confidence at the start of production so he went for the most popular actor of today insted of the best actor for the part. John Connor is an American. I want an American playing the part. Not some euro bastard who thinks an American accent is a growl. Anyone could have been a better choice but Bale can't talk like an American. Let's get that straight and get the right actors for the right parts instead of putting Bale in for credibility. I'm scared for public enemies

More terminator. McG is fine. Camerons a wet dream. Worthingtin is awesome. Can't wait for avatar

Messing around with time creates paradoxes. It is essentially unavoidable. It does not, however, make it inaccessible. There are paradoxes in quantum mechanics, string theory, relativity; all throughout cosmology and theoretical physics. Of course, Americans are stupid, and would much rather watch cinema that dictates the solutions for them rather than exert any mental prowess on their parts. The "franchise makes no sense because of the time travel stuff" argument is, in reality, non-existent. It does, in fact, make very good sense. If, on the other hand, the paradoxes did not exist in the story lines, then it really wouldn't make sense.

Keep in mind, I only speak of the franchise in general, and not the on the quality of any specific entity within that franchise.

Get rid of the movies, but bring back The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I love that show! I'm really pissed off that they cancelled that show. The final episodes of this season got better and better with the best episodes coming at the end. Lena Headey was awesome as Sarah Connor and Thomas Dekker provided a very human John Connor. We had Edward Furlong who was just a kid, Nick Stahl who was fairly boring, and Christian Bale who yelled at the screen and thought that he was entitled to his military position. But whatever.

Its hard to keep a franchise moving in a progressive manner when different writers take different approaches to writing the material....when the writers, director, and actors have invested in taking on such a responsibility, somehow, some way, the whole importance of continuity for the source gets completely lost. That's why James Cameron stops after 2 flicks...(i.e. - Alien, Aliens, T1, T2)...its hard to keep the material valid when you have big movie execs wanting ACTION/EXPLOSIONS/BIG NAME ACTORS. Its hard to keep producing "bigger and better" when you've already feel you've accomplished the purpose for that material. I know there's a HUGE fan base for these franchises, but why drag something into the mud for future generations to shit on when Cameron already made two movies we can watch back to back and love!?
I dunno...it sucked to see this movie have SO many plot holes...
If directors only did what Chris Nolan did for the Batman franchise- You have to expound and expand the arcs of the protagonist/antagonist for the audience to fully become invested in the story your telling. The conflict comes from the characters having to make real decisions in unreal circumstances. Without having those elements, all were watching is mindless entertainment....unfortunately, McG isn't that smart. And he is surely NO Chris Nolan...
Hey Bale- stick with that brother team... McG officially SUX!!!!

I thought they did a fairly good job on Salvation. The plot was certainly a surprise. I think people are just comparing it to T2 which is really hard to do. It's a completely different film. When you delve into the future after judgement day, you have a whole lot to explain. I think that's why people will be satisfied with a few more films delving into the mythology a little more. Who knows, maybe they'll get Cameron to give it a second look. I bet you'd be happy then, wouldn't you?

figured i'd be the nitpicker who pointed out to VICE that ridley scott directed alien, not cameron. and i didn't think TS was that bad, i don't see the big deal.

good point- didn't really notice that I wrote that until you just decided to point it out- touche. I was trying to explain that Cameron did a good job of keeping close to the material- he saw what Ridley Scott had done, and what Dan O'Bannon wrote as a screenplay and expounded on the character arc for Ripley- and MADE the second movie a magnificent extension of the franchise. McG didn't take the time to re-introduce us to a world after judgment day or re-establish a true character arc for john conner...watch what Cameron did with the extended version of Aliens...it's pretty ingenious...how developed he made Ripley's journey...I was ultimately disapointed- that's all. I still think McG sux. They gave this franchise to a guy who goes by a "stage name" like madonna or prince?! A guy who's best movie is a toss up between 'Charlie's Angels' or 'We Are Marshall'?! A guy who is taking on '20,000 Leagues Under The Sea' as his next flick?!?!?!
Lets see if he doesn't make that drown?
OH AND OMEK- yes! It would make me happy to have credible/disciplined people working on a franchise I care for...instead they got a guy who seems like he didn't graduate high school, but managed SOMEHOW to become a name in hollywood....just like most of the talent these days.
OH AND OMEK- learn how to spell JUDGMENT you idiot! NO WONDER YOU LIKED SALVATION!!! It lets high school dropouts like you fantasize about becoming a possible Movie - Director someday!!!

Terminator 1 & 2 were brilliant, T3 was good 'n action-y, but not so brilliant - it was fun to watch, but it just wasn't the same.

Friggin' loved the Sarah Connor Chronicles, don't know why everyone's so anti that... kinda pissed off that it's now been cancelled (seems like every time I get to liking a series Fox goes and cancels it).

Haven't seen Salvation yet, my expectations aren't all that high given how much it's changed the format and the fundamentals of the series - first 3 were all set in our time with robots coming back from the future to kill/defend folks. Salvation's a whole different premise and from what I hear it abandons certain other things, like Terminators being near-indestructible, likely all in the name of making the movie flow, but it's going to bug me if I let it.
