    Maybe its the movies, but he's choosing to be in them. Brad Pitt has shown an ability to cherry pick the best scripts as he ages, seeing as now he's generally only in great films. Tom Hanks is showing the opposite. He has gone the way of De Niro and Pacino.

    There are not a lot of writers out there who write scripts for a specific person anymore. Nora Ephron with Something's Gotta Give--Jack Nicholson, The Holiday-- Jack Black's character. Sophia Coppola with Lost In Translation-- Bill Murray. At this stage in his acting career he can afford to be stingy with the roles he picks.

    If you count voicework, Frank Welker is the highest grossing actor of all time, with Samuel L. and Tom Hanks ranking as numbers 2 and 3, respectively. But to be completely fair, Samuel L. has been in almost twice as many movies (78) as Hanks (41).

    I love Tom Hanks, and definitely think he is one of the greatest actors of the generation, but I gotta be honest and admit he is slipping in his acting. HOWEVER I think that his other projects that he does (i.e. when he produces, etc.), he still has the magic touch
