Film School Rejects: Shelved! Why ‘Killshot’ Deserved Better

I enjoyed this film (after viewing it on line... shhh!), though I wasn't aware of re-shoots. Flaws and all, it's still a tight little film, with some excellent performances... which I have to disagree about Levitt. I found him to be consistant. Asshole one minute, all for himself the next without caring about the consequences (I loved the grandmother scene). I felt as if it fit his character perfectly as a loose cannon. You didn't know where he'd end up next, and that's what made him dangerous.

I'm definitely interested in seeing this in its original form. But as it is an uneven film, I second your sentiments about it being undeservedly shelved.

I think any actor or film maker should be aware that if the The Weinstein Company feels like not paying for advertising they will just never release a movie..or if they feel they won't recoup money.. they are worst studio I mean who shelves good films?...I was shocked that they have never released All The Boys Love Mandy Lane....while the rest of the world has seen it or bought it on DVD....it's still one of the best slashers in the last couple of years...they have no respect for the art aspect of film making....it's only what they can sell to theaters and blockbuster

just look at the cast of Killshot that alone would have sold tickets...if Obsessed can make money why not this film?

Very true. The Weinstein's are a black hole for creative and desired films, and even a moderate publicity push by them could have turned a small profit on the movie.

And I'm thinking about doing Mandy Lane next time. (And yes, I probably could have phrased that better...)

Mandy Lane really would have made Amber Heard a household name...instead of just that naked girl in Informers... Heard is lucky enough she managed to get cast in Rum Diary and John Carpenter's The Ward...I thought she had the best performance is a slasher flick in years...almost worthy of the first Scream.....it wasn't the average horror film and it deserves a lot more respect than it's getting..when it comes to TWC unless your name is Quentin Tarantino they won't roll out the red carpet for your film....I'm still shocked that the Road was delayed for a year, if they bump it again I'll never support the Weinstein's projects again...

I read the original script and I thought it was pretty bad, (the Knoxville character was a particularly sour note) so I can't say I'm all that surprised it didn't audience test well. I'm interested to see the re-shot version now though and check out the changes.
