I actually really liked Indy 4 too.

    Good article.
Much as i hated all 3 of the above mentioned movies (Die Hard 4.0 was terrible..havent seen the dvd version yet, Indy 4 was abysmal and unnecessary, i'd prefer to have my mental image of Indiana Jones remain that of a young Harrison Ford, Rambo was just an excuse to show a man killing lots of people, if extreme violence is what passes as "entertainment" in our world, then the world really is a scary place), i do admit there is a certain amount of nostalgia to be had from watching these movies.

Duh - violence is what entertains the masses these days. Remember what happened in Utah between Zack & Miri and Saw V?

The Unrated Live Free Or Die Hard is the only version of the film that should be be watched by fans of the franchise. It's stupid that they watered it down to get a PG-13 rating.
Rambo 4 was a great surprise. Kudos to Sly for bringing John Rambo back.
And put me in the thumbs up column for Crystal Skull. It was great fun.

All three of those are entertaining but in the end they hardly compare to the originals. Sadly it's all about the mighty dollar, studios know they have an installed fan base for these movies so their risk factor isn't as high.

I am looking forward to Terminator Salvation, me thinks it may be the best fourth edition of any of these classics yet to come.

In have to agree on your assessment of LFoDH and Rambo, but I am sorry, Indy four was Indy 2 with older characters. The moment I saw Speilbergs name on the directing credits I knew it was going to be Short Round and Elephants all over again. It didn't have the same feeling as 1 and 3 and the scenerios were too staged looking.

If you havent seen the DVD directors cut of Live Free or Die Hard then you really are missing a lot. Rambo was the perfect ending to a sequal as was the last Rocky. It was Stallone saying goodbye to characters he created and showing when the studios aren't calling the shots to make money he can actually make a good hard biting sequal.
