Gawd No!!! Is Hollywood that hard up for ideas that they have to remake bad movies from the 80's? Don't even think Mr. Badass himself can save that film.

Still waiting for the other shoe to drop from Hollywood when some moron decides to start remaking the classics again such as "Gone With The Wind", or "Ben Hur" or even "E.T."

There's been a few remakes that were better than the original such as "Cape Fear" comes to mind.

Buck up Hollywood, you can do a whole lot better than The Last Dragon.

really the movie wasn't a bad film. if you think it was that bad you must not be a child of the eighties. I do agree with you about the re-make though... they'll never find someone to be as believably clueless or as sexy as Taimak! Samuel Jackson is an obvious choice for a rmake though... Can't they write a story where it's Leroy's son going through some issues with Sho'nuf

I dont like the idea. i liked the original just fine. This is gonig to make this movie turn out to be a parady or something like Dont be a menace to society while drinking your juice in the hood. Regardless if Berry Gordy's son is doing it .His father did fine with the first one.

Its terrible that Jackson keeps getting signed of for all these ridiculous movies lately. Personally I like the Last Dragon and agree a remake is foolish. This movie was a black martial arts film that was fun for the 80's. It paid homage to kung fu movies popualr in the decade before it. So to make a remake NOW, its just dumb. Plus Sam as Shogun? Please tell me why they overlooked Busta Ryhmes who is the spittin image of Shogun. Hell he even did Shogun in one of his old music videos. "Am I the prettiest?".. "SHo Nuff!!!!!"

i agree wit u on that one, Busta would make for a charismatic Sho Nuff. And Actually i think the remake wouldnt b that bad of an idea. We need more action movies with hand to hand combat scenes maybe that will help our youth get off the BS with gun play, and bring it back to scapp'n at the school yard with fist instead of everyone try'n to be the punisher with guns

Busta would have been good before he gained wieght. Sam Jackson as Sho Nuff is cool, I mean he is a good actor. As for Leroy Green I think the guy that played Sweetness on the movie " Roll Bounce" would be a good cast.

Listen people....I think it's a great idea to remake this movie as long as it's done correctly!! The casting choice is very important otherwise it can come off to be 'corny.' In saying that, I think Samual L. Jackson is a perrrrfect choice! Sho Nuf was over the top and Samual L. Jackson is over the top, its PERFECT! So in my opinion if they are going to do a remake they are on the right track!! The movie was funny as I don't know what. In addition, look at some of the garbage that is making it to the screens today. How bad can a remake be???

The Last Dragon is my all time favorite movie....ever. I think it is a travesty to remake what was perfect in it's original form. What's next, re-paint the Mona Lisa? But if they have to do it again, they should at least cast me as Bruce Leroy.

This movie is one of my all-time favorites and a cult classic. There is enough in the story to make a good remake or a sequel. I would like to see Columbus Short as Bruce Leroy. Ciara or Rihanna as Laura Charles. Maybe Danny Devito or Dennis Leary as Eddie A. I like Sam Jackson as Sho, but I could see Busta as a great fit also. and Delroy Lindo as Leroy Sr.

First time Blogger here. But I felt compelled to comment because I still watch the original whenever I get the chance (which is often). Charlie Murphy has the perfect attitude but is too short. Busta would have to lose the weight and Samuel is too old. And Beyonce will mess up the movie with her bad acting.

Lets look at the next generation. Sho Nuff and Eddie Arcadia has been in jail long enough to have created some evil plots to get back at Leroy. Sho Nuffs in prison whipping up on everyone who thinks they're tough and Eddie's money has grown. He's now richer than ever before. Mean while Leroy has continued in the way of the peaceful warrior we all know and loved, with a few new discoveries in the golden glow. Just thinks the action all starts in the weeks before Sho and Eddie are released from prison. When Sho give Sho Jr. AKA Busta Rhymes the go ahead. all Im asking for is 1%of the movie round trip plane tickets for two and all acommindations paid for for the world premere. I'll give you the rest for free. The last Dragon 2 can be out of this world!!!!! all this can be negotiated at the drop off a dime.

I love the idea of a remake but I agree with earlier comments in which casting plays an important part. I understand why Sam Jackson was casted but wonder how much martial arts skills he would provide in the film. I would hate to see Beyonce as Laura Charles. Just because she's a good singer doesn't mean she's a good actress. I'm not sold on Ciara or Rhianna either. As for Eddie Arkadian, I think George Costanza from Senifeld would be a perfect fit. But the second most important part would be who plays Bruce Leeroy Green (Jr.) - Wesley Jonathan would be a nice fit but that's only because I can't see any existing actors who would fit the bill. I would prefer them cast an up and coming martial arts or actor to play the role.

i love the last dragon its my favorite movie. But i think busta should play Sho'nuff and Taimak should be in the movie. Have u seen him lately he looks REALLY good and hasn't changed much at all. Check his myspace page and he has his own website (HE'S SO SEXY LADIES). If they do it it should be like a continuation not a remake it's 2009 for goodness sakes. Cast some of the originals and dont make it suck big time. i like Sam Jackson but give some one else a chance PLEASE!!!

BeYonce would be an obvious choice to replace Ms. Laura Charles or even Tyra Banks. But for really fun casting.... why doesn't someone cast an Asian in the lead role. They can never replace the original from a remake, best movie ever in my book. But if they are going to remake it, then i say no to sam Jackson, i think snakes on a plane ruined him. There are better choices for Sho Nuff, the busta rhymes idea was good, or wesley snipes, or here's one, get Will Smith to do it, way better choice i think, since everything he does is pretty much a blockbuster. I think Rhianna would be a better choice than beyonce, or how about meagan good or christina milian to play laura. As for Leroy, that is a hard one. I think they should cast some of the old cast for the movie, like Taimak could play the Leroy Sr. and what about the Leroy's students, the main 2, get ernie to now play the older student, and of course a new child for his old part in the movie. And what about Eddie's girlfriend in the movie, who would play her. or who would play Leroy's little brother. lots of choices to make if they do this, and they better not make bad choices, cause then they would ruin this movie to us that loved the original and still watch it religiously, that have it on dvd. :)

Ciara or Meagan Goode would be perfect for Laura Charles. It'll probably be smarter to go with an unknown for LeRoy. There's this kid named Ozy Reigns who might be a good choice. Pretty talented guy. I don't know where he's from, but he has an album out named after the movie. Lol, well he looks the part anyway.
