Film School Rejects: Rogen’s Green Hornet Might Lose The Green Light

  • Jon Stephens · 10 months ago
I want to see a GH movie, just not one with Seth Rogen as the Hornet. I like him, I love the movies he is in. But he would be out of place as GH. I'm all for people branching out, and I'm down for Rogen trying a serious role, but not this one. He doesn't have the look.

Besides, with Chow and Rogen originally attatched, it is clear they wanted to do it with a comedic touch. I think it would be better if it was just a straight forward action flick. I don't know what they had planned for certain (I don't think we ever will know for certain) so I could be all wrong and Chow/Rogen could've wanted a serious action flick, you never know.

Anyway, I'm glad this is losing steam. Just scrap the project as is and start over from scratch.

I have to admit I was looking forward to this movie and will be breathing that sigh of dissappointment if further news of its cancellation hits the interwebs. I'm not sure of Seth Rogen as the Hornet but I was uber excited about Chow playing Kato AND writing/directing (or whatever it is he's slated for).

Oh well, I'll have to console myself with Goemon or some other super cool kung fu flick.

good. when that project comes to mind i think of ben affleck and halle berry....

disappointing.. wasted my efforts hyping up my friends on the movie. sure no one knows who GH is. but the asians sure do know who Kato is. and i bet with Rogen and Chow, you've got to have a bankable movie. its a real shame it turned out this way. 1st the creative difference, now this! BUMMER! also, i think a good action/comedy would do well for an unknown char lik GH. think get smart n nt the spirit.

What? Ben and Halle? Ok Ben yes but Halle? What movie are we talking about here?
  • CaptainReg0981 · 10 months ago
    R.I.P. Green Hornet.

Im relieved that they pulled the plug on Rogen. For a while I had thought it was a joke. Good thing they thought so too. Green Hornet should not be done now. Not with Marvel and DC spitting out films for the next few years. This movie wouldnt be taken seriously. Especially with Knocked Up himself.

It's crazy, I've been commenting on similar posts to this one all over the web, and this is the only place I've seen that hasn't broken out into an all out Seth Rogen bashing. It's shocking to see so many people come out and totally trash the guy. I'm all for dissenting opinions, and I could care less if people don't like what I like, so it's really not that big a deal. Just surprising it hasn't happened here.

Oh, and the bashers always seem to get personal and start calling each other retarded and stupid for feeling one way or the other. Childish stuff. I'm glad it hasn't happened here (hope I didn't just start something!) All of this just goes to prove my theory that Seth Rogen is one of those guys that you either love or hate. No middle ground on this guy.

It was Rogen in the first place who said there were maybe 3 GH fans, leaving the way clear for him to re-invent the character. That was the thrust of his pitch to Sony. Not only did that alienate a fanbase that DID in fact exist, but clearly the moaning was loud enough to give Sony second thoughts once Rogen's box-office mojo started to decline. So I'm an oldster at 46. I remember who Van Williams is.

Wow, I had no idea Rogen said that. Damn that's screwed up.

I'm a young'un, but I have always enjoyed what would be classified by this generation as "classic" properties. I love GH, and I would love to eventually see a good, straight up action type GH film.

I like Seth Rogen in anything, but Pineapple Express.

Obviously the tv show still has a wide impact for a French filmmaker to do a tribute using "name" stunt actors. Once you've seen Manu Lanzi and Patrick Vo as the Green Hornet and Kato in the "Le Frelon Vert" fanfilm by Adrian Poitrimoult, you wonder why Sony even bothered with Rogen's concept- the original take still works updated in modern style. There was no need to "Pink Panther" it.

Oh God was the pink panther an awful film. Made me lose a lot of respect for Steve Martin. You used to be able to count on him and expect his movies to be funny every single time.

What happened to the Steve Martin I came to know and love?
