Film School Rejects: Robert Rodriguez Producing Predator Re-Up

Maybe they could do the Dark Knight vs Predator! It worked well (I thought) when they did it several years back in the comics.....

Make 4 in the rumble and still add The Aliens and Superman to the bunch for a DC's World's Alien Finest Predators. LOL!

I absolutely loved the first two predator movies. And I was immensely disappointed by the two AVP movies, though the second one was much better. I am ALWAYS down to see more Predator appearances on film. But they are running the risk of Alienating the rest of the hardcore fans by pushing out another crappy movie. If they don't take the time to do this one right, and it bombs (not financially, but cinematically) then the Predator franchise will be done. Beyond salvaging. There are still some fans of the creature, but they won't last long if this stinks.

Now, I'll have to agree with Cole on the multiple Predators thing. The Predator is a bad ass. I'm okay with seeing a bunch of predators, but I don't want to see them fighting side by side. I know that, like _Christopher_M just said, that if this film is set in the future then humans may not be as under-matched as they were in every other incarnation. Still, that just feels wrong. As legit as it is, it's not going to have the same feel as the other films because during the whole thing, you just find yourself going "woah! that thing is bad ass, this is bad ass" But would that happen if it were a bunch of them together, fighting a traditional style war? I'm really hoping that I'm just interpeting this wrong.

Robert Rodriguez is a talented film maker. He COULD do a good job. But I'm not sure that I like the ideas that are being bantered about right now. I'd rather see it done differently. But whatever it is, you can bet that I will be there opening weekend, because I am a pathetic wh*re who still believes that one day they will recapture the magic from the original predator film.

The predator is a total bad ass! I loved all of the movies, even the two AVP films. I'll take anything with the predator in it. And you are right, Rodriguez is very talented. I love his movies, and I think he can do something special with this project!

One of the new Predators should be his brother:

well you're talking about present time humans and their weapons....how do you think the Predators would match up with humans if they had similar technology and it was the future?...then it would make sense more than one Predator could be in the film...I even think the colonial marines from Aliens could give the Predator a run for his money just with those auto-guns...since that technology was based on air density the camo-shield wouldn't work..lol...I think this could pretty much only work out if Rodriguez directs this...you never know it could be a condition to get Barbarella made....and if Sin City 2's script is anything like The Spirit I wouldn't want to make it either.....Rodriguez's original idea was that the Predator homeworld would be the setting for the film...so I'm all for anything that's far from AVP...I could picture a mix of the original and Aliens being the inspiration of this "reboot"....having it called a reboot is an easy way to erase the timeline and characters from the other films...this way it can be set in any time and the Predator universe can be expanded...I always thought the Predator and AVP movies all were missing that important science fiction setting since all the movies were set during present time earth...

Is there any chance that this film won't suck? Seriously.... save your money.

    Christopher_M, I like your enthusiasm.
It isn't well known but us lowly humans already have plasma weapons and pocket nukes,,, (it just isn't discussed)
Predator vs Delta Force in some underground facility with a moon invasion sub plot hanging in the balance is what I would go for...

I just hope this remake is NOT in 3-D !!!!

Really? how about new fucking material. In ten years is going to be a reboot of the reboot of preator, are there any more creative ideas that can get green lit in hollywood. This seems so dumb to me, let it die. Retire it. Same with Robocop.

The problem with all of this talk is that there are a lot of really good stories that Dark Horse Comics put out in the 90's. Most were set in the furture and they were by far superior to any of the AvP movies that have come out. Heck they even stole the idea of AvP and set it in modern day earth instead of during the colonial marines time period with the female lead being inducted into the Predators Clan.

I am not sure why Hollywood thinks the fan base won't accept the storyline set in the future. That or they are simply too cheap to produce the sets and FX needed to make it work properly.
