Film School Rejects: Robert Downey Jr. Talks Iron Man 2, The Dark Knight and Colin Farrell

Batman would win, Ironman has his fancy suit and all, but then again, so does Batman, along with years of training. Tony Stark is a genius I'll give him that cause its true but in a fight he relies to much on his suit

Batman hands down...you see what he did to the swat team in TDK while saving the kids in
clown masks? Love Ironman but, when his suit almost stopped on him, he hardly beat a Iron
Monger....Anyway, I agree Ironman was too much fun to try to make it as complex as TDK.

Count you in? Colin Farrell sucks. In Bruges was a decent movie but I couldn't get past that phony Irish guy. Colin Farrell eats balls.

If Downey thinks that he and Colin Farrell would be as awesome as he and Val Kilmer were, I'd see that in a heart beat. Farrell holds little appeal to me, but I don't view him negatively. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is one of my favorite movies though.

I loved both the films and yea it wouldn't be a good idea to make Iron Man as dark (and majestic) as The Dark Knight was. Wouldn't do justice to the feel of it. The Dark Knight came out beautifully with the twisting plots and a mature story-line. It was a step away from how we perceive comic book adaptations to be and you can not take that away from Nolan. He did wonders with the franchise and gave it life. Iron man on the other hand deserves to be playful.

"In a short little tidbit, Downey expressed an interest in working with another cinematic bad boy, Colin Farrell"

I don't get this, out of nowhere he just volunteered this info?

Is it the new hollywood thing to announce your man-crush?
  • Robert Fure · 1 year ago
    @Bob Funn
Conversation at the table turned to who he would like to work with in the future and thats when he talked about Farrell. But yeah, I think announcing a man crush is a good way to get word of mouth going in the public, which can 'inspire' studios to look into it.

Downey is great, but his reaction to The Dark Knight is similar to my reaction to Iron Man: "What am I missing? Why does everyone love this movie?" Iron Man was vapid, sexist, quasi-entertainment, run-of-the-mill Hollywood stuff. I thought Harry Potter 5 was a better superhero movie than Iron Man was, and I don't even like Harry Potter.

I'm more of a DC man myself, but that wouldn't prevent me from really digging a great Iron Man movie. As it stands, it was just sort of "eh." I'm all about a cinematic Marvel Universe though, don't get me wrong.

Iron Man would win, all he would have to do is pay off a few Gothem cops or fool them, since they are the dumbest cops ever to grace the screen.

Hope they get crancking on IM2 !!!

it's funny that Robert Downey Jr. said the Dark Knight is too sophisticated when he himself tends to sound so sophisticated

A comparison: The Azrael Batman is too dependent on the suit, like what Stark has established.

I liked irom man and batman pretty much the same..
Though iron man depends on his suit way too much..he needs 2 learn some karate moves!! :{P
