Of all Robin Hood movies (and TV show i.e. Robin Hood by BBC America) do we all think this will set it different apart from the other stories have been done? I personally love 'Men In Tights' since Cary Elwes was hilarious. With Thespians and Shakespearean actors alike this sounds interesting.

Agreed, Men in Tights was hilarious. A parody of Robin Hood..YES!! But does Hollywood really think we can take a man in tights seriously?

If we can take a man in a giant, black rubber batsuit seriously, why not?

if it's anything like the beginning scenes of Kingdom of Heaven it won't...

Well, Crowe says he's not going to be wearing tights as, in their research, they found out that tights weren't around yet! Being a Crowe fan, I've been waiting a long time for this movie. I think they've assembled an outstanding cast. And yes, Crowe fits my idea of Robin Hood. No one disappears into a role better than he does!

Well lately Scott's been a little unpredictable in terms of quality but I'm still looking forward to this.

What part of the batsuit was giant? The codpeice. Heeyoooo! Batman was dark of course. Its no prob to be serious there. Im talking green stalkings. Now Batman the show would be a better arguement. Darn Adam West and those purple tights and underwears!!!

Adam West in purple tights? They were gray! But I agree, they were ridiculous, although when I was about 4-5 yrs. old, he was the man, lol!

Ridley Scott rules. He's got Crowe so it should be good.

I think it'll be interesting to see how this film holds up to Kevin Costner's take on the Prince of Thieves.

Crowe and Scott should be excellent.I'm extremely tired of Cate Blanchett

ANYTHING is better than Costner, who couldn't even hold the accent. Men in Tights is my favorite version of this story, very closely followed by Disney's animated all-animal version. But yes, Errol Flynn was in a class all his own.

My personal favorite was the one that came out the same year as Prince of Thieves... Uma Therman played maid marion, jurgen prochnow played the sherrif of nottingham type guy but with a different name. Robin Hood was some guy I've never heard of + moustache.
Why do I feel like the only person who remembers this movie?

really looking forward to it being from the nottingham area and a huge nottingham forest fan basicly loving all things nottingham to see robin hood ( nottingham) world wide cant really get anybetter hope its great!!

Hope this is good, but aren't the leads well...a little bit old? Crowe is what, about 40? That's getting on for old age in medieval times...Marion sure wouldn't be a maid at her age...if not married, she'd be a nun. I noticed Redgrave is playing Queen Eleanor--she'd a good actress but egads, what a hatchet face! Eleanor in youth was supposed to have been the most beautiful woman in Europe. Does anyone also realise that Isabella, John's queen-to-be, is only a 12 year old girl?

I can't believe people are still blethering about tights. The tights and the naff cap are both anachronistic and only entered the scene via the early Hollywood films of the 30's. No tv or film Robin has worn 'tights' since the 70's (except Men in Tights which was a comedy.)
