"I don'tthink it ever happened in real life" Gee you think? Reverse aging? Yeah, that would be sort of you know physically impossible.

    Update:
So I finally saw the movie yesterday and I gotta say, it was worth the money (although I did not pay for it, lucky me whoop-ti-do!) and every minute of 2 hr and 44 mins. The movie have my (and my partner's) expectations and more. Brad Pitt proves he is not just one of the the pretty glamorous hollywood that just gives you bulls#$%t. This man needs an oscar nomination as well as the movie for the best picture. The writing and directing is great actors played well as well as Julia "haven't-seen-need-to-make-a-comeback" Ormond (great actress). But the problem I've had was not the length of the movie it was the damn granny (whom reminds me of the old lady in Titanic). She needs to speak clearly or otherwise, they need to have subtitles I mean come on she mumbles like Ozzy Osbourne and I can understand him. Overall, I cannot stop talking about this movie and did I mention Brad is STILL the hottest man around? That's how good the movie was. So don't just read this, go see the damn movie.

Benjamin Button was very Fincher-esque... almost as good as his other stuff if not for some nagging plot holes

This movie ate shit and died. Seriously. I'm a big fan of Fincher and even enjoy a good Pitt but this was overlong, bland, boring, flawed and squandered the interesting premise with a formulaic love story.
    Pass.

I totally agree with this review: I thought that Brad Pitt did really well as a small kid in an old man's body, especially when he was lined up with the other old residents in the house, then showed that his yearning to get up and move is so great that he is determined to do it despite his physical limitations. And yeah, I absolutely loved the parts where the man asked Ben Button how he had been struck by lightning 7 times and then they cut to a small, noir black-and-white scene in which he was struck by said lightning. Hilarious and quirky! I didn't love or hate Cate Blanchett's performance, to me she was just there to give an age comparison. But weirdly enough I liked the part of the story where they were in love and in their respective primes, and when he said he would just like to remember them the way they were right then. That really touched me. Call me weird.

And did I mention how amazing Alexandre Desplat's score was? Yeah it had a classical feel to it, then had that slight nudge in tone that was in my opinion a nod to the word 'curious' in the title of the movie.

However, the predictability of the love story (who the father of Daisy's daughter (didn't catch her name) actually was) stopped me from loving this movie 100%. But out of 10, I give this a 9. =D

I've been looking forward to this film since I saw the teaser way back when. I've always enjoyed Fincher's work, and the aging/deaging process really interests me. Even if it wasn't done 'well' just to see the attempts would have been pretty cool.

I think that a lot of people might be put off by the trailer though. At least, in a mainstream sense. I clearly got the feeling that it was going to be a long film, and that the pacing and everything would not be blockbuster-esque. Not that that will impact it's ability to win awards, but hopefully the buzz surrounding it will translate into good box office numbers. Its an incredibly interesting idea, and definitely different that a lot of other big-budget films of late, and if it does well, hopefully there will be more 'new' ideas as opposed to reboots and redos of 80s films.

Robert, thanks for the review I think this proves Brad Pitt that he still have his Oscar acting chops. Aside from his Brad-gilina-fer fiasco his is a good actor (I loved him in Burn After Reading, which I'm getting for X-mas). The ensemble is a great casting especially Cate Blanchett whom worked with Brad Pitt in the Oscar nominee Babel, movie has given of the interest with a bit of supernatural or science fiction of extreme case of reverse aging (which I don't think it ever happened in real-life). I qould've given the movie a solid 'A' even though I haven't seen it.

I've not yet seen anyone draw the similarities this movie shares with 1979's "The Tin Drum"? Tin Drum is a remarkable statement against the passivity of the German public during the Nazi take-over. The similarities, and shortcomings, with TCCOBB begin and end with The Tin Drum's motives expressed through it's main character, a man/child who refuses to age while advancing through the landmark events of Germany WWII. TCCOBB draws not such significant metaphorical ends. Structurally, it's Princess Bride or Titanic. Thematically, its Tin Drum meets Forrest Gump for purely sentimental value. The great Alejandro Jodorwsky said it best, "Watching American pictures is like fucking a prostitute. You pay... you forget. Not like making love to a woman you love".
