Film School Rejects: Review: ‘Twilight’ is a Love Letter to Fans, But Nothing More
-
790 · 1 year agoI knew this would suck (in a bad way) when I saw the trailer on the Scream Awards.
-
David G · 1 year agoSpider Man? He can suck some webbing, too..But no movie will ever touch Star Wars(fan-related anyway) the original series. That was legendary. If this filmis a glimpse of things to come from Hardwicke, then screw doing the rest of this Twilight series. The movie was played out true to the book but the acting just made it a big joke that you end up laughing at instead of getting sucked in.

baby cakes · 4 months agoOh yea, like that part when Edward first sees Bella and it looks like he just jizzed his pants... they actually made that into a video on youtube.
-
Arou101 · 1 year agoSadly, all the bad reviews in the world won't stop this juggernaut from swallowing the box office whole.
-
Neil Miller · 1 year agoAgreed, to an extent. The fans will be all over it -- and they should be, as I explained above -- but I don't think it will have steam in its second and third weeks. This might be a cultish franchise, but it isn't Spider-Man, Star Wars or even Harry Potter.
-
Yvaine · 1 year agoNeil, ILM's part in the effects work is just for the "sparkling" effect of Edward's skin. That's it. :)
-
Neil Miller · 1 year agoSo the rest was done by some dude in a van... Makes sense.

big K · 1 year agoIf you want the good vampire/human love stories, stay at home and watch "True Blood" or the Buffy/Angel series on DVD.
-
Arou101 · 1 year agoI will be begrudgingly watching this early Friday afternoon with my wife, and hopefully I'll see that you're right. In my opinion the original Harry Potter movie wasn't great, but the popularity spun tremendous book sales and it's become a several headed monster since. My wife wasn't into this franchise a month ago, but since she's sprinted through all four(?) books and just today I had to pull her away from the gaudy Twilight merchandise section in Borders. I'm not worried about this movie spawning a love for the future movies, but the popularity that the books hold and will continue to gain after this movie could propel this venture into a Harry Potter-esque franchise.

Arou101 · 1 year agoActually, True Blood is a decent show. A bit abstract in its approach, but I've enjoyed every episode so far. I wouldn't go as far as recommending Buffy/Angel for anyone beyond the age of 17, but True Blood is a reasonable replacement--possibly even better than the movie, which I'll be finding out in just a few short hours.

Arou101 · 1 year agoYeah, so I saw it. The middle 50 minutes makes you want to bang your head against a wall and scream "WWWHHHY!?" And the actions scenes are horrid. My wife, a freaking fangirl, was beside herself. Sure, the preteens loved it, but even one girl about 17 behind us proclaimed as the credits began, "God, I hope they don't make another one. Just leave me and my books alone!" Well said young lady, well said. And for me, well leave my brain cells alone damnit!

Alexis · 12 months agoWhoever wrote the screen play needs to be tortured. Very Slow, Very Painfully. And the Director needs to have her fingernailed pulled from its bed to ever believe she could make anything better than a C movie. The book gives more than enough info to work w/. For a 2hr movie, it was rushed, w/ medicore acting & bad cg. There is just no excuse. This could have been done better AND still gotten the teens to swarm the theatres. Hmm maybe I should ask James to kill them....

sonal · 10 months agoi love this book/movie i cant stop watching it and second of all who doesnt ike this book/movie its the best book/movie in the world interesting!!!!!!!!!!!! i really like it and i would reccomend it to everyone!!!
-
Alexis · 10 months agoYes, Sonal. That was very mean. And very true. They took an awesome book and ruined it. I read the book 2x. I own them all and Stephenie Meyer rocks as a writer. That doesnt excuse the lame excuse for the Twilight Movie. Good scripts and Good actors MAKE the movie. I am not insane. I have taste and high expectations. I have enough expierence to know a good movie when I see one.
-
LittleBird1170 · 10 months agoI agree with Alexis, I'm afraid. I love Stephenie's writing and I thought the screenplay didn't flow and made the movie feel totally choppy. The actors did what they could with it. The action scenes were wierd, no make that wired. There were so many well written scenes/dialog in the book that they could have used but didn't. Maybe New Moon will be better since the studio will undoubtedly through more money at the budget. And maybe we'll get a better script...

LittleBird1170 · 10 months agoExcuse me, that's "throw" more money, I'm a bit tired today...

Deanna Olvera · 9 months agoWhat is wrong with you people!!! I saw Twlight 3 times, and I CAN'T get enough of Edward and Bella. I love just watching the two of them together. I could watch this movie 10 more times. I LOVED IT. I wish the love scenes were just a bit more. Other than that, the movie was perfect 10. My grade A+
