Boiling Point: Twilight
I read through the prequel novel (From The Ashes) and it did answer some of the unanswered question Cole mentioned in his review, but not all of them. The characters in the prequel story lacked characterization that I hoped the movie would deliver on. I suppose I'll be let down in that regard. Shame.
I feel like we're accomplishing something here...
Seriously look at this current movie and them compare it to Nemisis and tell me there are not similarities. Romulans want to destroy the Federation with a large scary ship that can destroy starships and planets like they were nothing. Add in a new cast with a time travel twist and you have the new movie.
Seriously if you liked it good for you, but Chris Pine was not portraying the Kirk of legend I remember. Someone who dedicated their life to being the youngest captain in star fleet and risking his life to protect his ship and crew. No he was a school drop out, bar fly who hit on anything that opened its legs and had to trick and scheme his way onto the Enterprise to even get a chance to shame Spock off the bridge. Sorry but I will follow Capt Pike into battle before I would the new Kirk.
at the very least I'll be going in with lowered expectations I'm sure it has some redeemable qualities...I rarely agree with the reviews on FSR...Carr having the worst taste in movies of any reviewer I've read...but I think they do a great job in pointing out issues they had with the film...
Ergo Propter Hoc.
I am normally the odd man out when it comes to watching films, most of my friends and I disagree on a lot of movies out there. Too much agreement equals boring conversations.
As for Cameron, well he seems to have gotten a case of Lucas Syndrome, afraid to go back to the old projects lest he taint his legacy.
That's actually a good thing! We don't need another epic fail as in Greedo shooting first! lol
i dont know
sometimes i have disagreed with what was written on here at times
its all personal opinion and standpoint
maybe a lot of people will really like it, or maybe itll just really suck. I guess we will find out

Cole I think you nailed it when you said that they decided to make a trilogy instead of a single good film.
Morons, I hope this bombs so bad that Mcg retires from the biz.
Yeah let's bring on that sequel where Connor transports back in time to warn the military and Robert Patrick is working on a cure for childhood diabetes.
Come on ppl the guy is a moron.
You look stupid now. :)
What was Sam Worthington like, Cole?
To be honest though, my expectations weren't high going in. I mean what has McG really done for him to get this much hype? He directed "Charlies Angles" and "We Are Marshall" two movies I didn't really like. AND the writers, what pieces of shit. Did anyone think the story was going to be good? Look at their track record! Catwoman, Primeval, who can say they enjoyed those movies?
I'm not really going to repeat to much from this review, but IMO, Cole is spot on. I don't think I would give it a D- maybe C+? This movie just fell short in almost every way. Star Trek is still the superior summer movie as of right now, and It's looking like It might stay that way.
The pros include every time we see Kirk get beat up, Quinto's portrayal of Spock, and the scene where there is silence as a women is dragged into space after the attack on USS Kelvin.
That said, if you rated it a 3 out of 10, then you're probably gonna have to dust off your negative numbers for Salvation. I was astonished by how uninvolving, poorly-paced, poorly-plotted and just downright dull the whole thing was. I think it will make Trek look good - to those who didn't like it - in comparison.
I found the story captivating an very ingaging, despite the fact it may be lacking in a human aspect, that would be because there were only a handful of characters important enough to have been developed, like John and Marcus.
this was filled with great action, gripping character conflict, and an amazing ending. I can't understand why you hate it so much, or why anyone else would either. people should at least go and see for themselves before forming an opinion.
Somewhere, deep inside, Terminator Salvation may be a good film. But it's so unabashedly Hollywood, such a construct of too many artistic styles, storylines, unrealistic physics, chase scenes, contracts and heavy-handed metaphors—not to mention terrible script writing—that it may have simply forgotten how to be good. Quite simply, it's just too busy being a movie to be entertaining.
T3 was a lousy film, but at least its fatalistic ending stuck with you. At the end of Terminator Salvation, I left the theater gagging on the world's most expensive Hallmark card, questioning why I was supposed to give a damn in the first place.
So, I will watch Terminator regardless of this review but I guess I will lower my expectations.
Couldn't adequately express my dissatisfaction (I'm not good at explaining why films suck, I just know a pisspoor piece of work when I sit and watch one). Thank you for crystalising every poor point of this film for me!
