You should check out the original BBC miniseries.

State of Play is boring? Are you serious? OH, I forgot, this must've been the same person that gave the Friday the 13th remake a pass with a A.
A movie that has dialouge, OOOOHHH, oh no, how am I going to remember all this talking???? Give me a break.

Sorry - I'd respond to your criticism, but it went right over my tiny head.

I hate it when people say "The English version was much better," or "The book was much better," but in the case of State of Play, I can say that both the book and the BBC's mini-series were so far superior to the Russell Crowe/Ben Affleck/Helen Mirren version, that it defies the senses. Nothing against the stars, but rent the DVD of the British version and you'll see what I mean.

I went to see it on opening day and the theater full full of old gray haired senior citizens. The reason? State of Play is Masterpiece Theater.
    Boring and pointless.

I'm actually really looking forward to seeing it this weekend. If it's even half as good as the UK mini-series, audiences should be flocking to it. I mean Russell Crowe almost always delivers. The TV trailer (http://displacedbrett.wordpress.com/2009/04/21/st... shows Crowe looking commanding as always, and now that I see him in action, I can live with Ben Affleck playing this role. Also, it features a great song, "Unstoppable" by Minutes Til Midnight that does a great job of setting the mood. Anyway, I'm way excited for this film - it looks to be the last of a dying breed, the high-budget, adult drama/thriller.

I agree. Just saw the movie. Great acting by great actors but the plot is weak weak weak with lots of holes.
