I wanted 3:10 to Yuma for Best Score. Oh well, Westerns get no love. And Gone Baby Gone was shamefully unrewarded with even nominations.
Even if Blood didn't take the top honors, it still wins the fight in providing the best internet meme - everyone is talking about drinking my milkshake. And it makes me uncomfortable.
I think they only do three in this category. Much like visual effects.

The costume design was second to Elizabeth.
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly couldn't have been nominated for both Best Foreign and the major categories. Plus, the countries have to offer up official selections for nomination. The Academy doesn't choose them.
"I’m not sure why Johnny Greenwood wasn’t nominated for There Will Be Blood"
Because the score as deemed ineligible because too much wasn't original music written for the film.
