Film School Rejects: Nic Cage to Play Kato in ‘The Green Hornet’?

    First of all, 'The Green Hornet' was not a comedy. And Seth Rogen as the Green Hornet? Are you F-ing kidding me? Which freaking, pencil pushing, desk jockey executive, came up with that casting choice? Seth is fine when it comes to playing the average overweight Joe, kinds of characters. But he is all wrong for the character of Brett Reed, alias The Green Hornet. Hell, you might as well hire Jack Black to play Kato. That makes just about as much sense. This smacks of a very funny movie titled 'The Producers,' where they set out from the very beginning to create a stinker, so they can rip off their investors by claiming a loss at the box office. With that said there's nothing wrong with a little humor where appropriate, but to set out to turn 'The Green Hornet' into a comedy will send the film spiraling down the same drain as such other infamously terrible re-imaginings as 'The Wild Wild West,' 'I Spy,' and every other failed TV series turned feature film. The 'Green Hornet' should be made with the same kind of quality and treated with as much respect as 'Batman,' otherwise their just spitting in the faces of the loyal fans that have been waiting for years to see their beloved heroes, The Green Hornet and Kato brought to the big screen. So while they are in a firing and hiring frenzie, they should fire Seth Rogen and replace him with someone like Sam Worthington. And yes, Tony Jaa would be great as Kato, minus the comedy suggestion. Nicholas Cage will be great as well. Keep it dark, keep it serious!

    Anyway that's just my personal opinion, but I'm certain I'm echoing the opinions of the majority of 'Green Hornet' fans the world over. And after all aren't movies supposed to be made for those who buy the tickets and not to stroke the egos of power mad movie executives, whom in the long run have proven time and again in these kinds of situations, not to be filmmakers but merely business men crunching numbers?
