Film School Rejects: Movies that Suck: Just Say ‘Juno’

  • Cole Abaius · 1 year ago
You sound upset, Danny. Perhaps seeing a genuinely unique and heartfelt comedy will put you in a better mood.

    Dude, you're an idiot.

    YOU SHOULD never write again.

I loved this article! I still think you are a bastard for not seeing Juno but this article is
    awesome nonetheless...

I saw Juno based on everyone else's recommendation and it did "suck". It was like
regurgitated Napolean Dynamite, which also sucked. Quirky, artsy-fartsy crap with a
bad little indy music, one-guy band and scrawling seasons to make transitions seem
original and arty. The girl uses dead-pan sarcasm to deliver lines combining over-
used, unintelligent slang with big vocabulary words which just don't fit together. The
girl doesn't so much as pick up a book or come from an educated background which
would explain why she would randomly throw out a big word to appeal to an educated
audience. It tries to hard to be clever and like Napolean; weird, for the sake of being
weird. There are a few decent parts but unfortunately the trailer, which is great, also
ruins the film by showing every redeeming part in 1 minute, leaving no funny surprises.
If you've seen the trailer, you've seen the film.
    Am I alone here?
Someone else please agree with me.

i was not a fan of juno whatsoever but dude if you havent even seen it, then you should be writing an article titled "movies that suck"...shouldn't it be "movies i think might suck but i dont know because i havent bothered"?
  • Jordan · 1 year ago
also amy that was an interesting poem.

Dude, Really? I liked juno I thought it was really well made movie (except for a couple of Fade to black scene changes which I hate). You don't have to watch it, but you don't have to tell the world you won't, you little attention seeker you!

But for the love of God, when will people stop comparing any comedy thats played straight and deadpan to Napolean Dynamite! OK it was a great movie and the first movie to do it well (as far as I know) but it doesn't mean every other movie is ripping it off, or "trying to be" Napolean Dynamite. Gosh! Idiots!

Danny -- Have I mentioned that in order for you to continue to work for this site, that you
    must see Juno at once?

You're going to skip over a movie that gets almost all good reviews because your friends are recommending it to you? Sure it's annoying if you hear it over and over, but Christ, man, they're suggesting it because they think you'll like it! You're flipping out over a phrase that's not forceful at all. If someone's giving you advice on a problem you have, and they say "you should..." would you still flip?

You should stop taking yourself so seriously and just watch the movie, regardless of what other people are doing.

"When you start a sentence with the phrase “you should,” your opinion becomes a fact whether it’s right or not and I don’t want to live in a world where people’s personal opinions, feelings or beliefs are pushed on other people as indisputable facts."

First of all, that's not true at all. If I were to say "You should go jump off a cliff because you haven't seen Juno yet." That's still only my opinion, it isn't a fact until you DO jump off the cliff and then I tell someone else "Danny jumped off a cliff because he hadn't seen Juno yet."

Just because someone suggests that you see a movie doesn't mean they're /forcing/ you to go see it. That decision is still up to you, and frankly I think you've made a poor decision by not seeing Juno yet, it is slightly Napoleon-esque yes, but there's much more of a plot and story and even more witty dialogue that makes this one worth watching.

I think you're too quick to jump to assumptions. If your only reason for not watching a movie is because people recommend it and therefore "force their opinion upon you" then you're going to end up living under a rock, and it's hard to write movie reviews if you live under a rock. =P

That's my two cents. THUNDERCATS ARE GO!!!

Wow, what a rebel. People are trying to tell you that Juno is a good movie, but because it's so popular, you wont dare go near it.

    Your are a moron.

You have an odd way of picking movies my friend. Normally, I have to wait until a movie comes out on video before watching it if I can't see it within a week of its release. I've just seen Juno months after it came out. It's worth it.
