yuck. She's good in indie and romantic roles, but for a superhero movie? Come the fuck on.

it could have been a lot worse...I'm just glad they didn't hire some flavor of the month television actor to replace Blunt...I'm curious to see if Rourke ends up playing a villain in Spidey 4...since it was mentioned Sony was considering him...he's the villain in Iron Man 2 and more than likely won't be returning in the other Marvel Studios films...it would be cool to see him playing Kraven The Hunter...I'm all for The Lizard and Kraven for the next Spidey film...

Well we all know that Scarlett Johansson is going to look amazing in the outfit they squeeze her into, but her acting is likely going to leave a void in the connection we gain with the character. This is fine because that seems to be what they are striving for with the female superheroes in any superhero movie. No one cares if the actress can actually act the part so long as they look the part. Seriously, other then Batman Returns where Michelle Pfeiffer shines as Catwomen. I can't think of another superhero movie that had a well portrayed female superhero. Don't get me wrong she looked amazing in the leather, but she also acted the role very well. Meh either way looking forward to seeing Johansson popping out of a tight outfit.

Rourke is a badass this we know. I’ve always thought he was a good actor so he should be great in this movie.

Overall pretty amped up about this movie.

I've always enjoyed Rourke although I didn't start noticing him until Once Upon A Time In Mexico, Man on Fire, Sin City and Domino...all movies I own on DVD so I found it a bit weird they said he was back and given a second chance.....lol...all great films and he was in a 1# film with Sin City as one of the leading actors...so it was more successful than The Wrestler was money-wise...he's such a great character actor I can't say he's going to be a leading man again but the man is talented the more movies he's in the better...

I think this is in general is good news. Rouke should knock this out of the park and am really looking forward to him n going toe to toe with RDJ. Scarjo is going to look absolutely amazing as the black widow; no doubts there. I have this horrible feeling that as soon as she opens her mouth with some god awful attempt at a Russian accent it will take away some of the magic that was in the first film, every time she's on screen.

yeah I'd love to see him play Kraven although he might end up playing Mysterio...I'm tried of only seeing him in small cameos...he needs a bigger part in the next film...

Why coulnd't they have picked someone who looks just like The Black Widow, who can act and they could have gotten for a lot less money. Wasn't that the reason they dropped a few key people from the first movie. money?

I choked on my starbucks when I heard about Scar-Jo. Does that qualify for a refund from Favreau?

I watched M.N.I.B.! sir, and he wasn't playing an over the top villain in a massive superhero film...I like my Bruce on the big screen not on DVD...granted it was great flick

Mickey Rourke is a good pick. Scarjo, however, do.not.want. Mainly because they're probably going to try and make a Black Widow movie and they're going to want her in the Avengers movie. Don't get me wrong the girl is beautiful, but she's not that great of an actress. This is all my humble opinion of course.

I'm not all that excited for Rourke. How threatening is 56 year old washed out boxer? In The Wrestler I still maintain it was a cake role for him because he was playing a parallel to his own life. He was great in Sin City, though. I don't know, just recently I think The Wrestler has warped what people think of Mickey Rourke and I don't really see it.

Though his confirmation virtually guarantees that the next villain is going to be another powered armor villain. Hopefully they can make another Iron on Iron fight good.

As for ScarJo - hate it. She has a good body for a super hero, but her face is waaaaay too soft for Black Widow. She is supposed to a gymnast with razor sharp features. ScarJo is a softy.

I have to disagree with you about the Mickster. He's always had the talent however the best burn themselves out. Now that life has given him a second chance, this is his time to shine given the right role. Scar-Jo was a horrid pic. She's Woody's muse and nothing more. I think he's reaching with casting her. I'd much rather see Asia Argento, Anne Parillaud or Paulina Porizkova (mrs. rick ocasek) in the role. I realize Paulina is a stretch, but who else would you rather have?

RE: Rourke - If he wants the part and wants to put the time in, this could be a great move. (Remember, before the Wrestler he spent the better part of 15 years phoning in roles. This is a big paycheck for him and unless the director is willing to get in his face the way the Wrestlers director did, he might just be collecting his filthy lucre.)

RE: Johansson - Just like Rourke, if she is showing up for the paycheck, she will be fairly dreadful. If she shows up with a desire to shine, she will be great. Maybe it's only certain directors who can "cater" to her as an actress but when they do, we get great films. When they don't, she is awful.

    I'm hoping for the best.
