Film School Rejects: Land of the Lost: 10 Things I Hated, 5 I Didn’t

Clearly you've seen the TV show so I find it interesting that you hated the Sleestaks and the CGI. I was under the impression that the film was made to look like it's original TV counterpart to an extent.

The film is stuck between sort of poking fun at the original and trying to be the original. I did not like the original, so it held no charm over me. The Sleestaks do look very much like they did in the TV series, and heck they move the same way and all, but it wasn't scary/interesting then and it isn't now. It's a cool design, why not make it bad-ass? As for the CGI, like I said, it's not that its "bad" it's just not appealing most of the time and other than the dinosaurs it really could have been better. There is a really funny Will Ferrell Land of the Lost movie in there somewhere, they just misfired this.

disagree totally about mcbride. played a completely different character in pineapple express than he did in tropic thunder. and kenny powers is quite different from any character hes played in a big budget movie. YOU'RE FUCKIN OUT!

Liquid Terminator may not agree on your comment about McBride, but you wrapped up exactly what I think of him. A lot of people are praising McBride's comic style right now, and I fail to see his humor as new or innovative. I think you could mesh each of his performances in his films and easily show that he is a one trick pony.

I think stop motion would have been a better choice for the movie. You're not going to create a scary realistic t rex for this mediocre movie, so why try? Be a comedy if you want to be a comedy.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who isn't a fan of Danny McBride. The dude has yet to crack me up in anything I've seen.

Figures this movie wont do well since it shouldve been aimed towards the kids, but apparently isnt with the crude humor. Another movie that could have done better.

I find myself agreeing with you, Fure, which bothers me.

But the entire first section is fairly kid-friendly, even with the Chaka-grabs-Holly's-boobs-a-ton jokes. I think when they find the Sleestak village, feel the vibrating crystal column, and Will tells Holly she should sit on it...I realized that the film was going to be a bad mix of kid stuff and fairly crude shit.

And yeah, if someone can see a difference between McBride's performances in his films, they should write a thesis on it.

Lol,,, I agree with almost everything except the Sleestacks. They looked great and come on you want them to be scary?

I Loved it. It was very Tongue and cheek and thats what it went for. look I watched the 70's and 90's version and they were made for kids. I am no longer a kid but I enjoyed The movie for the satire and Lets face it if your complaining about the CGI then maybe you have forgotten how crappy the effects were when we were kids.
