Film School Rejects: Kevin Smith Has Seen Transformers 2! Says It’s Better Than a Rimjob From Motherf*cking Teresa!

  • HempKnight757 · 1 year ago
I hope the sequel kicks ass & who the fuck is kevin smith more like who the fuck is rob hunter?
  • Bob Funn · 1 year ago
"But do any of these things make his opinion on unfinished films that are seven to nine months away from release the slightest bit relevant or newsworthy?"

    Yes.
  • KMoney · 1 year ago
who the fuck is hemp knight?
  • Bob Funn · 1 year ago
"where he presumably got to sit on Zack Snyder’s lap and squeeze the director’s nipples throughout the film."

    Jealous much?

Nice headline, maybe next time you could go for something actually funny like a rim job from Harry Knowles or something...

    FSR credibility reduced yet again.

We had credibility?! Someone should have told me - I would have taken it to the pawn shop to help pay for my Meth addiction.
  • Mister Hand · 1 year ago
I remember that quote from Kevin Smith regarding REVENGE OF THE SITH. He has no credibility after that in my book.

And I get the feeling Bob Funn is a skimmer.

Dude, do you really not know who Kevin Smith is?

    :)

Get a clue. He's someone whose taste in these kinds of movies carries some weight. (And you aren't.)
  • Neil Miller · 1 year ago
I believe that this may be the beginning of our first geek race war... Thanks, Rob.

Anyway, having personally met Kevin Smith (we sat together and saw The Dark Knight 3 weeks early -- chew on that, bitches), I can say that his opinions of movies are generally pretty grounded. He's an immensely intelligent chap who has a deep love for his craft. That said, he is also a big time fanboy, much like many of us, so his judgment can get a little clouded. I know that my own judgment toward certain properties can often get a little fuzzy. Either way though, its perfectly acceptable for Smith to get excited, and in turn help get others excited about these upcoming movies.

But in Rob's defense, I am a little puzzled as to why this continues to be such a huge news story -- why is Kevin Smith's off-the-cuff opinion about test footage so important to everyone? And that's not even the big question -- the big question is why has it been happening so often, so recently? You can really draw your own conclusions on this matter, but I can tell you that Kevin is a self-admitted publicity whore. He's a man that speaks to his fans and his opinion does carry weight. So whether he is trying to help out friends or trying to help get the word out on Zack and Miri, I can't really blame him.

And I think that's what Rob is trying to say, more or less, albeit in a much harsher, more Rob Hunter-esque style.

Also -- I second Cole's comment... I was not aware that we had credibility. I was also not aware that so much of our audience doesn't understand our sense of humor... I bet Kevin Smith would get the joke.

Smith, you lucky son of a bicth!.

We have a sense of humor?! Come on, guys. What the hell else are you keeping from me?

Don't fuck with the jedi master, son!

One thing that I'm surprised no one has brought up before now:

I was totally unaware that Mother Theresa was famous for her rimjobs. I'd heard she gave a pretty awesome BJ, but I had no idea she was proficient with the "O" ring.

Given that the first three Star Wars movies weren't that good to begin with, I don't see what everyone's problem with the 2nd and 3rd prequels are. Revenge of the Sith was the best of the three.
  • Cole Abaius · 1 year ago
Amen, JMoney. I really dug Revenge of the Sith. The monster of nostalgia keeps a lot of people from realizing that A New Hope, with its genius bits of "I'm Luke Skywalker, and I'm here to rescue you," dialog, is not the high art that people remember it to be.
  • Adam Sweeney · 1 year ago
I loved Revenge of the Sith and really feel like people ripped too much on Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker for being too immature and whiny. Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember a certain Luke Skywalker crying about power converters in A New Hope.

I am not a Star Trek fan but I am interested in seeing what J.J. Abrams can do with the film. And Kevin Smith has some of the funniest dialogue ever written, as well as great Q & A sessions on An Evening with Kevin Smith and Evening Harder.

Neil Said: I am a little puzzled as to why this continues to be such a huge news story — why is Kevin Smith’s off-the-cuff opinion about test footage so important to everyone?

    --------------

Neil, people get excited about test screening reviews from faceless, anonymous, nobodys on AICN. Isn't getting the early word on a movie you care about from someone who's tastes and opinion you at least know 100 times more valid? It's a big story, because he's seen it. It would be a big story if you'd seen it too, or if I'd seen it, or if SexyGeek2454 had seen it. Given the choice though, I'd rather know what Kevin Smith thinks about it than SexyGeek2454.
  • Neil Miller · 1 year ago
    @Josh

Fair enough. I must admit that you have a point there.

The growing trend is a little suspect though, don't you think?
  • Cole Abaius · 1 year ago
Ugh. I think after winning the Academy Award for Best Director in 1974, SexyGeek2454 has earned the respect to have his opinion matter more than Smith.
  • Josh - cinemablend.com · 1 year ago
    @Neil

The growing trend of Kevin Smith getting to see movies early? Nah, not worrisome. On both Watchmen and Star Trek there were reasons he saw them early... Watchmen because he was on a panel with Zack Snyder at Comic Con and the two got to talking, and Star Trek for reasons I cannot divulge.

But it's not like studios are inviting him out to screen their movies and then start the early buzz or anything. It's not a trend.

dang who would have though that kevin smith would ring in a heated talkback??

3 different sites referenced in one talkback is a record i believe. but i could be wrong and just have my a.d.d kickin in again.

i actually got pumped hearin his "review" on the film or what little review he did give out in regards to the trek. not sure how good it will be as i dont like the other trek movies but wrath of kahn only more so lookin forward to what jj does to the franchise.

    HAHAH!!

Brilliant move saving the Revenge of the Sith quote for the end! I absolutely adore Kevin Smith, but he does have a penchant for hyberbole when discussing other folks' films.
  • Rob Hunter · 1 year ago
@ Josh, The difference between Smith's review and one by an anonymous poster on AICN is that the anonymous nobody on AICN will give details. Sure their opinion is suspect, but the details are what make it worth reading so far in advance.
And your comment that Smith saw Star Trek "for reasons I cannot divulge" makes me wonder if Smith has a cameo in the film. If so, his review begins to sound reminiscent of the praise he gave to Daredevil before its release.

And again, I love Kevin Smith and would happily squeeze his nipples were he but to ask.

@Josh- Cinemablend.com in response to "On both Watchmen and Star Trek there were reasons he saw them early… Watchmen because he was on a panel with Zack Snyder at Comic Con and the two got to talking, and Star Trek for reasons I cannot divulge."

Admit it, he gave Abrams a handjob. It's okay, it's the same reason Matthew Fox got the lead on LOST.

Hey Mark, any comment on a Comic Book the Movie, sequel. ????????
  • Pluto · 1 year ago
Kevin Smith is an idiot, I don't know why people insist in listening to him, the guy has mouth diarea 24/7 and he most likely didn't even watch this movie, he just want to appear interresting to his fans. Loser
  • daviedave_47 · 1 year ago
IMO, if any other Hollywood-type celebrity (Quentin Tarantino, for example) had the same opportunity as Kevin, and then went on the books with an interview (if you could call it that)...there would still be over two dozen comments to that effect. It just so happens that Kevin Smith IS a "self-admitted publicity whore" (thank you Neil Miller), and in his typical fashion, went out and voiced his opinion.
Whether or not his opinion matters is up to each individual (as evidenced in this comment thread), but there are certainly enough of his fans out there who will follow his recommendations, simply because he is Kevin Smith. His enthusiasm for his craft goes without saying, and for some, it can be infectious.
As for myself, I take in what others say with a grain of salt (and a lot of chuckling, with regards to Mr. Smith), and then make my own opinion in the end.

Kevin Smith is slowly becoming the Chuck Norris of film geeks, man!

"Kevin Smith has heard CHINESE DEMOCRACY, and compares it to THE GODFATHER."

"Kevin Smith saw the series finale for LOST, and knows what the fuck show is about. Confirms the writers smoke Pineapple Express and it's the best effin' show ever."

"Kevin Smith has seen WATCHMEN, and considers Zack Snyder a God."

    Oh wait...
