Film School Rejects: Judy Garland Biopic Gets ‘Happy’ at The Weinstein Co.

Her life was anything but romantic. She had a sad, pitiful, tragic life and Hollywood NEEDS to stop glamorizing that kind of shit! No more depressing biopics about dead movie stars, ok?

I'd rather watch a biopic about a powerful woman in office like Indira Gandhi, who ACTUALLY devoted her life to politics.

My vote is Anne Hathaway. Not because she just played a druggie, but because she just seems like she'd be really good in the role. They both can be warm without being overly sweet.

Also, my vote is for dubbing. She has such a unique voice, and I think they should stick with it.

I foresee this being the Weinstein's Oscar contender. Much like 'The Reader', it'll go up against 'Green Lantern' and be seen as the film that took it's spot. Fanboys far and wide will begin saying things about how 'Lantern' is a classic and 'Wizard of Oz' is over-rated.

    Mark my words.

Yeah maybe whover plays Garland should get nude to help get the film an award like The Reader.

Tammy Blanchard. For sure. She did a FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC job in Me and My Shadows and she's old enough now to play it'til the end. The girl has too much talent and scary similar Judy looks to waste. She's already proven that she deserves it.

Agree with Josh, Anne Hathaway has it all to pull this off and not only greatfully but powerfully and honestly. She has such a heart on screen, and shines on screen like no one else, its very easy to watch and that will give the movie that warm touch (pretty much what happend with her character Kym, she was gross, but Anne just make her so vulnerable that was impossible to be hated by viewers) and also has an amazing singing voice. She will blow people away as Judy Garland.

This is very similar to the Michael Jackson media frenzy. People are talking about him as a great artist but at the same time they link him being an artist with the possibility of him being a child molester. Artists are humans as well and might have certain problems which people can't understand because they just the perfection displayed on the wide screen. Keep dreaming people!!
