Film School Rejects: James Franco as Jack Ryan?

Hold the phone. While no one saw Sum of All Fears, Affleck was already sinking fast after Pearl Harbor. Like the play on words? Thought so.

They're working on a non-Tom Clancy approved sequel called THE SUM OF ALL GIGLI HARBOR.

I just wrote a sentence. And not one part of it made a lick of sense.

how about Ben Affleck as Daredevil in The Sum Of All Gigli Harbour!
Now thats a movie i'd like to see...

James Franco just doesn't look like a man. At least Harrison Ford and Alec Baldwin look like men and not pretty boys. I think Franco is a good actor, but he's just too pretty.

I would be shocked if the studio bankrolled a Jack Ryan movie with Franco in the part! I say -never happen!

    Brian and entertainmenttodayandbeyond:

I agree with all of your sentiments. Let James get into his 40's when he's not so pretty, and Harrison Ford is probably dead, and maybe that's the time to take on the Jack Ryan role.

In the meantime--I wonder... who WOULD be a good fit for this role.

Gee. That would have been a great way to end my article to really whip up the comments section.

How did you get a job writing for this website, this was the worst article i've heard on FSR. If you wanted to do a tribute to Harrison Ford then you should have done that. This reads like a 15 year old kid wrote it.

p.s. the first three star wars movies sucked just as bad as the last three, they just happened to have innovative special effects. i will never understand why people think they are such great movies

Although this is pretty apples and oranges, a lot of people were skeptical when Heath "10 Things I hate About You/Knight's Tale/Brokeback" Ledger was cast as Joker. Or how about Daniel Craig in Bond? Again, not exactly comparable but still an actor can make a role his own sometimes given the chance. Franco isn't the worst choice for the role, especially if they make him the young, green Jack Ryan rather than weathered Harrison Ford Jack Ryan. At least it's not the guy from Step Up/GI Joe. I'm more worried that Sam Raimi is directing. Hopefully there's not an emo Jack Ryan dancing on tables scene...

Finally, I feel like I have to defend Clear and Present Danger. The SUV ambush scene is fucking amazing. And end fuck you from Jack Ryan to the President? Come on. I don't even remember what Sean Connery as a Russian was like.

I totally agree with you!! Your right, Sam Raimi is a troubling factor. He is hit or miss which is more dangerous. Franco can be decent if he is not focusing on his good side.
