Film School Rejects: I Love You, Man: 10 Things I Liked, 5 I Didn’t

How have you had enough of Jason Segel? This is only his second big role. I could understand the Rudd over kill, but Segel is the freshest of all those guys.
  • Julian Dean Shapiro · 8 months ago
Yeah, how can you have Segel overkill then say "oh, but I'd love some more Seann William Scott." I don't care if these quality comedies aren't Seann's thing...

My tiredness over Segel may be a bit pre-emptive. I just don't really like the Apatow bait and switch. Introduce an actor in a minor role (Knocked Up) bump him into a starring vehicle (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) and then he's a star who will be everywhere in no time. Plus he's on a fairly long running TV show, so I just feel like I see his face everywhere.

Don't get me wrong - he's hilarious. Forgetting Sarah Marshall was a top 4 comedy from 2008. Possibly top 3 or above. Just want some variety. As for SWS, what has he been in lately other than Role Models? Exactly.

a little movie i like to call Mr. Woodcock.
  • RobertFure · 7 months ago
Yeah, that was in theaters 2 years ago. "Balls Out" was funny and went straight to DVD in early 2009. Fun fact about Mr. Woodcock - SWS hates it. But I can always go for more SWS.

Seems like you could use a nice picture of Rashida/Zooey in a bikini... but then again, we all could

Your entire column's integrity went out the window when you said to bring back Pauly Shore.
  • Adam_Sweeney · 8 months ago
I think the Pauly Shore comment was meant as a joke. I did love Encino Man, however.
  • RobertFure · 8 months ago
It was 90% joke. Encino Man, Son in Law, and In the Army Now are all pretty funny. Also, his trailer for "Adopted" looks hilarious. He goes to Africa and wants to adopt a kid, but of course, goes about it in a completely inappropriate way.

If Van Damme an be cool again, so can Shore.

Son in Law is great. so's your column. i loved RJones too....more women need to be that unpsycho. and how funny was Favs?
  • RobertFure · 7 months ago
Favreau was good. The projectile vomit scene was probably my favorite.
  • MoMo · 8 months ago
"I threw up. Yeah, like projectile. That's a real thing. I didn't know that."
