    ...I liked Cabin Fever.

Terry Gilliam is tons sicker than Eli Roth...

    Awesome Review

I found Cabin Fever to be mildly entertaining, and I don't find Gilliam to be sick. I consider Gilliam to be creative, where Roth just wants to gross the audience out.

    I was kidding...

Though i found his last movie sick just for the sake of sickness. But even such creative minds can miss their cause if they have too much fun!

Are you referring to Tideland? I haven't seen it yet, but I hear it's pretty messed up. Gilliam has a tendency to lose his grip on his work.

"Messed up" is right on spot.

Brazil is definitely a miss thanks to too much fun. Gilliam's good for his wild visuals, but he's not much of a storyteller. (Well, at least not in Brazil) And I saw a trailer for Tideland and decided not to see it. What movies needs so many Dutch angles? Looks like Gilliam didn't get his V-8.

Man, Gilliam thrives on Dutch angles, like Nicholas Ray on acid. Brazil has to be one of the most overrated movies ever. I couldn't really get into it.

"This is where you really get your money's worth."

Actually this is where you should walk out. Or at least wait for the DVD, which should be out tomorrow as fast as the b.o. is plummeting. Just skip to the chapters of the car chase.

"a group of characters that we slowly get to know and care for"

What was there to care about? They were empty shells. Other than Julia being a DJ and stood up by some dude, there is zero characterization. Tell me one thing about these women that made you care?

    Their personalities made me care.
  • El Bicho · 2 years ago
personalities? You mean the chick who liked to get high, or the chick who liked to get high. I've seen more interesting plants.

I can see your point, they weren't the most fleshed out characters I've ever seen, or anything like that, but to call them "empty shells", I think is going too far. They were far better characters than what Rodriguez dished out for Planet Terror.
