Boiling Point: Twilight
First the actor that's playing Seigfreid looks nothing like the Original and dosnt even have a German accent. How can you have a Seigfreid without a German accent????? (If you don't eat your meat, how can you have any pudding?!!!)
Carrell, looks like a good Smart but has decided not to try and duplicate Don's sqweeky high pitch voice, instead he's just playing the same character he plays in "The Office". I'm really let down by this and its becoming obvious to me that Steve Carrell really dosnt have any range as a film actor...all the famous one liners fall soo flat when he speaks.
The casting bright spot seems to be Ann Hatthaway. She's a great choice for 99.
And then we have Dwayne Johnson as "agent 23" and Mentor to Smart...
This is where I cry BULLSHIT!, Maxwell Smart never had a Mentor and was allways Controls Best agent. And Agent 23 was mostly allways undercover in a footlocker or in a mailbox, not to mention dwayne johnson has very little comedic timing.
This film starts off with a flashback that shows a fat Maxwell Smart as a loser kid wanting to be a secret agent, then flashforwards, as we see Max as an agent in trainning. Then,,,,, (add tired script idea no 6).
"All" the agents in Control are systematically killed off and there's nobody left but Max, 99 and 23.
As a true fan of Get Smart, I'm totally boycotting this film. Its a poor script and a horrible way to pay tribute to Don Adams and the Franchise.
They missed it by 10 miles.
You can find my complete review elsewhere online.
And I really hate that he's a wannabee agent and not a bumbling super agent.
They picked a great 99, but yeah seriously Siegfreid casting choice is so bad I have to wonder if the Director really was a fan. Siegfreid was the most popular villian on that show. He wasn't even going to be a reoccuring character but Berne Kopell didn't such a great job the producers fell in love with his accent. Looks like they got Stahker wrong too. He's some little fat guy.... Wtf?
I'm seriously boycotting this film....
