Film School Rejects: Foreign Objects: Son of Rambow

I agree with the plot 'getting in the way' through the second half of the movie. But this is much better that the similar premise shown in Be Kind Rewind, although slightly different. This movie is what BKR SHOULD have been. Neither are perfect, and have faults with a plot over the top, but Son of Rambow does it much better and takes more issues at the same time. Nice little roles for a few comedic actors, such as Jessica Hynes (Daisy from Spaced) and Adam Buxton (one part of the off-the-wall comedy duo Adam & Joe).

@ trovster, good call on the Be Kind Rewind comparison. The two films took different routes, but both aimed for the same destination of movies being magical and powerful. BKR just happened to detour into shitville on the way...

I'd check this out, but I hate subtitles.

    @ trovster

I think anyone who's read my articles on this site will agree the answer to that question is, "No."

    Use the Queen's English!

This movie was fantastic. It's one of those movies that you just have to spread around to your friends and urge them to see it...like when Delicatessen came out. The kids acting abilities were great. The French student sub-plot was hilarious. The last half definitely had issue, but still pulled away at the end. It's probably not fair to say, and a bit general, but they just don't make movies like this in America. It's always the East of Atlantic that pull away with the great visuals and story like this film.
