i remember that story line from a kind of twilight zone anthology show that I believe was called 'The Third Eye'. all the stories were about kids with special powers. it aired in the states on Nickelodeon for years. along with another show called 'The Tomorrow People' (two versions). I knew the latter was British and I'm pretty sure The Third Eye was also. I could never find the show on DVD or anything, didn't know any of the tales were from books. Might have to check it out for old times sake
