Boiling Point: Twilight
...When Beth says she's had good day?
Another quick note, it has been a day now since its release...and not one REAL picture of it has been put up. Now...is this because sites won't allow it? Or people just don't care to?
at the very start u think theres somthing wrong with the cinema but if u read wat it says it was retrieved by the military, does this also mean they found Rob and Beth?
And after the credits you hear blurred stuff does Rob(or Beth) say help help us?
And for those who want to know want the monsters look like(based on 10 sec length
------------------------SPOILERS------------------SPOILERS-----------------SPOILERS--
The monster is about half to 3/4 the hieght of the empire state building. it moves like a gorrilla but with brown reptillian like skin. his arms are longer than his legs and can rip right through a building. His skin( or watever it is) is inpenatrable by human weapons (exept for that bomb) but it still lived. The top part of his face is trangular and his bottom jaw teeth go all the way up just below his eyes. towards the top of his face is 2 pink things like bubble gum going in and out(i think its his lungs) his eyes are like a scalene tringle but with roun pupils. I think he has 3 fingers on each hand.
That was the big monster now the little ones. these come out of his body
They are very spider like, if youve seen starship troopers they look mostly like them but with different teeth
Thats it but you dont have to believe me this just based on memory of the movie.
SPOILERS... kinda
if the words at the end is really saying its still alive does that mean that we are supposed to beleive that rob and beth and the camera all survived the explosion
anyone feeling a cloverfield 2: its back?
With information about what happened after the bomb, what NY looks like now and where the monster came form. Probably with a layout similar to the government stuff in the beginning of the movie. We'll have to wait a while but I really think this is probable
ok so jareds girlfriend takes a different helicopter right? Maybe she lived?? And at the beginning it said, "Film found buried in the rubble that used to be central park. so that means we saw the film, but who got the film? does a cloverfield 2 sound good now? Maybe jaredds girlfriend kind of explains it or something. This is just a theory
God Bless.
2 feet monster

sluggish monster

Nevertheless, I loved the movie, and would be glad to see cloverfield 2. :D
P.S. Next time, just send in some cruise missiles.
I also have to say that, for a sea creature, it doesn't appear to have much 'sea creature' features in it.
-----Tiny spoiler----
Why would it need those lung-like things on top of its head?
It doesn't look designed to be a swimmer...or for that matter even a crawler. Correct me if i'm wrong but i spotted only 2 arms and no legs, just a tail.
Have any of you ever played diablo 2? there's these tiny annoying little minion creatures that really look similar to this monster.
I HATE that the monster looked so fake...i don't mean in design...i mean..its so obviously cg, and not even well done. The Jurassic Park T-rex looked more realistic
The worst part was when hud gets eaten...or...whatever is done to him...i know he's dead...but how was he not chewed and swallowed? or did the creature have an instantanous digestive system... THe camera...oh how i HATE that camera....i want to know what brand it is...because if it can survive being chomped on by Godzilla's sister, its gotta be made some high quality made in japan material or something.
0---End Spoiler====
additionally...its lucky it didn't land on the west coast...the movie would be over the minute chuck decided to do something about it :P
Most Popular Theroies To What It Was Are...
>The Monster Coming From Outer Space
>A Man Jumping Off A Boat
But Mostly It Is Considered To Be:
>A Satellite From The Fictional Company 'Tagruato' Which Is The Deep-Sea Drilling Company Which Awoke The Monster From Its Deep Sleep...
I Loved That Movie...It Kept You Thinking About It...
If you've seen the viral videos you'll remember the clip of the "fake" news talking about an oil well in the Atlantic being blown up by "eco-terrorists" but in actuality its the monster. Near the end of the report it shows a map of where New York is corresponding to the oil well that is now submerged. Also at the end of the news clip you see a person with a cell phone recording his escape on an inflattable life raft and as they boat off, you see debris just fly out of the ocean like something super strong and pissed was tossing it out of the water. I think the the news real has the same or similar date as the "coney island footage" and that the splash was actually part of the oil well debris that the monster threw. The "satelite debris" was just a cover story by the company that owned the oil well. It's possible that this oil well was drilling or doing something in the sea and it woke up the monster in the Atlantic, it got pissed, sank the well and tossed it's debris in the air only to have one of the chunks land near Coney Island. You have to see the viral ads to kinda understand this, but this theory also backs up JJ Abrams statement that it's been asleep for thousands of years and has just woken up.
It would also explain the differences in size in some scenes. When the monster is right above hud, it actually looks fairly smaller in comparison to the other RARE times we see a monster, such as when its being bombed. I'm hoping that's the case, because there was big issues regarding Godzilla (the one in New York), where his
size would drastically change from scene to scene.
Things that don't make sense even for movie logics:
-The camera surviving several drops, hits and such...including the fall from the monsters mouth.
-The monster bites hud and spits him out?...ok...makes no sense at all. What....did he taste like poop??
-The monster needs glasses...look how long it took him to respond after seeing hud right in front of him.
-Some scenes where the camera is on...honestly if a big monster attacked my city and i happened to have the camera in my hand, i'd record only the monster, not the pointless traveling and such.
-CG...CG!!...CG!!!!..it's sooooo fake.
-This is not a racist comment..its a good sense comment: they let the black girl on the helicopter BEFORE the injured girl? Of course they needed it for plot...but that would never happen...injured would have gone first.
-A monster that's nearly unaffected by all human attacks (obviously nuclear strike wasn't tried on him yet). Why don't those morons aim for his lungs/gills things...
-The spider things just looked ridiculously stupid...how many limbs does a stupid creature need? What is it? centipedezilla?
-IF it's from outerspace...how did nobody saw this incoming object?
-IF it was dormant for thousands of years:
A) Dinosaurs were alot more than thousands of years ago.
B) It sleeps for thousands of years, is still a baby and grows up in 1 month?...
C) Why does it have fleas and ticks?
D) Why does it have a ground based body design rather than acquatic?
I have to say it was enjoyable...but i still feel ripped off to have payed 10.25$ for a movie ticket, expecting to see a monster in full detail instead of seeing a glimpse of him for a total of 5 minutes throughout the whole movie...
Additionally, i think Godzilla could still kick his butt...or their butts...whichever.
We might have missed one - sleeping - over the centuries - but not 447....
What do you think?
I doubt the origins are simply a sea creature that suddenly decides to shop in the Big Apple. Give me big mean space aliens - a submerged delivery system from a low orbit mothership!!! YES? What do you think?
2. As something erupts from the ground, it shoots fireballs into the sky. (I noticed a lot of you forgot to list that in the "Weird Crap" index.)
3. The creature that killed Hud was DEFINITELY MUCH smaller than whatever ripped the head for the Statue of Liberty. It was standing roughly 50 feet over Hud.
4. The creature running behind the buildings was as large as the buildings, bipedal, and much more immense than the 4 or 6 legged creature that was crawling around.
5. I did not see the long tail on the larger monster. But, at least one of these creatures had a short, blunt tail. Almost like a fin. So, if you guys saw a longer tailed creature, there are definite 2 different creatures.
When the soldiers grabbed them, and she started bleeding, the nurse yelled "bite!".
They took her behind the curtain, and there was a lot of blood. But, they didn't say what happened.
Any ideas?
Its misleading when hud gets chomped of how close the monster was. The long arms could have been partially bent, the camera on zoom. I would think there is only one monster. Didnt seem like the military ever mentioned anything in plural.
andrew: if hud was bitten in half, wouldn't the upper half be in the mouth and the lower half be on the ground? But you clearly see his head when the camera falls.
'hmmmmm' makes very valuable points. Not to mention that when is there NOT heavy traffic in New York? No way would those tanks be there when they were. Its movie logics hard at work.
JT: yeah that's something that really bugs me. Does that mean we need a super sized axe to kill the thing? :)
Danlor: The thing is, and guys correct me if i'm wrong, but he runs to pick up the cam and turns around to see the monster. It appears to me that he doesn't zoom while doing this...and if he does...he's a complete moron...here he is facing death and he's adjusting the zoom on his camera?
Bobbo: i doubt those are micro 'cloverfield monsters' cuz they look so esthetically different from the big guy (or girl).
In addition i'd like to add: Its a shame that America's answer to Godzilla are 2 monsters instead of 1 (although we could still be wrong).
As a matter of fact, next time you get a chance to see them, you will realize that, if anything, their heads are almost "avian". They have an eye on either side, and huge jaws/(beaks?) with serrated edges.
But, the jaws are definitely top and bottom. Which, now gives credence to the possibility that they are young Cloverfields. But, at the same time, they could be mutated sea lice because...
My next theory:
There are several "Cloverfields" asleep beneath the ocean floor.
Tagruato/Slusho may have been "drilling" into hibernating creatures.
The "Sea Nectar", may actually be the blood from these things. Or, something along these lines.
This would explain the effects of Slusho. And, it would also explain the mutated seal lice, as well as the effects of their bite. The exploding or poisoning of the victims could be a result of the Cloverfield blood entering a victim from the bite of the small creatures.
The creature that attacked NY may have been awakened by the satellite, before it could be drained by Tagruato.
The creatures are so big, that when the drilling was happening, nobody would even think it was an animal. It would have seemed like some kind of resource under the sea floor.
Aside from the fact that atomic radiation does not cause growth spurts of the effect of that monster, What could possibly have been dumped in the sea that would affect only one or 2 creatures? The sea is the most populated part of the earth. And why would fishies grow limbs?
The whole satellite and drilling thing. This thing can take missiles to the face and smile and its awoken by something the size of a toothpick or a pebble (sizes in comparison to the monsters size)? Besides...if he was dormant in the sea, he went unnoticed for...pretty much ever...meaning that it was waaaaaaay deep under the sea. The pressure there is destructive for us. I'm pretty sure if it has skin to survive that pressure, it can survive a drillbit or a satelite without being disturbed.
The whole 'dormant' thing: why would this thing be dormant for millennia and still be a baby?
I keep having to remind myself that its just a movie, but i am really curious of how they are gonna figure this one out. In his time, King Kong was accepted because there was still room around for fantastic voyages in uncharted areas. Godzilla worked in his time because the effects of nuclear radiation were not known, so it was plausible that what happened...happened. But now we live in an era where if we don't know something...click...wikipedia...youtube....google....you know it. They must have something really interesting up their sleeves (i hope).
you will come to the J.J. Abrams-Produced comic for Cloverfield/Slusho, or something along the lines of this storyline. You will see the ship dragging something through the water, and on the last page, you will see the Cloverfield-creature surfacing.
What struck me, was that the ship dragging the creature looked a lot like the last scene of the movie, where the couple is at the amusement park, and in the background, you can see a large ship dragging something through the water.
Is it dragging it on purpose, or did they just pick it up by mistake? I don't know. If you guys can read Japanese, check out the site above, Read J.J.'s comic, and you tell me!
Either way, his comic has nothing to do with anything falling from the sky into a NY harbor. So far.
Back to my theory about drilling into the creatures to get the "Deep Sea Nectar"...
It's true, that judging from the Cloverfield creature so far, drilling into one, even a sleeping one, probably would not work.
Maybe, they drilled into an egg or eggs. Maybe the "Deep Sea Nectar" is the yolk or something.

Here is my take:
2 monsters, mom and child
The splash at the end is a tie in to the Manga as mentioned above by Horrificus-Boat tows
baby, mom gets involved?
Not a "fish" but a hybrid reptile/ amphibian that "walks" the sea floor
Slusho is made from blood or milk, etc from said monsters, the same as the parasite things
feed on, so a bite would yield a mega dose.
fun stuff
I really don't get all the stuff about Jamie and Teddy. That had absolutly nothing to do with the movie. And all those usless pictures of the monster. All totally worthless. I mean it was a great stunt to go and get people to see the movie, but I feel like I wasted time searching through all the stuff.
And I am totally bummed that I did not get to see the splash in the water!! poop. But I do think there were 2 monster, for sure.
I do not think the whole US was under sttack or the soldier would have said something about it to Rob.
I did notice that when they were shooting at the monster its skin seamed to be getting torn up, but then when it was standing over Hud it's skin seemed to be totally fine. I think that is why they chose to sacrifice the whole city just to try and kill it. And I do think they did not kill it.
ive seen the comic now, but dont speak japanese.....
thing is at 1-18-08.com, theres some pics of whales with bites in em, who've seemingly washed up on shore, a picture of a japanese guy in shock with what he's got in a baking sheet, some kind of "eggs" in a jar in the background too.
also of note are the pics with rob, dated january 2008 (april/may???) lascano, platt(looks like hud) and robbie says the first. while the second, isnt dated but seems to be from the party, simpy states, dont forget who takes care of you... J(essica?)
also, i agree, there is probably two or more creatures rumbling around, as the first one seen, at night, is visibly "greener" and brighter than the one hud films before being bitten in half. the one who does bit him,
so in my estimation, rob and jessica survive the attacks for sure, at least initially... and a sequel would be scheduled for right after the movie ends..
could it be possible that after having drained so much blood/nectar from this sea frog, that it would have awoken from hibernation like a bear and hungry?it was an oil tanker that capsized in NYC right?
never noticed the splash while watching, but from the still shot i saw, the splash could not have been anything like a sattelite or alien, etc . as the velocity coming from out of orbit would easily make a giant spectacle, noone would ever not notice it.
i thought the one that lumbered around resembled a wierd frog, while the green one looked like a turtle without shell, just a thought
http://youtube.com/watch?v=nfAY5oxcmrg
As for the army knowing about the monster and suddenly appearing. Is the army not ready to deploy in NY as a result of what happened during 9/11?
I loved the movie. It was full of suspense. I hope they have a sequel for it.
http://www.celebridiot.com/2008/01/07/cloverfie...
you can watch, what I believe, is the awakening of our monster.
As per my theory above, it would seem that Tagruato really had been, somehow, drilling into these creatures for the Deep Sea Nectar that is an ingredient in Slusho. Whether they knew there were animals being pumped dry, or they thought it was just some weird organic substance below the ocean floor, who knows. I guess we will find out eventually.
But, my guess is that this drilling platform was the first to actually wake one of these things up.
Then, you can probably draw a pretty straight line on a map, starting from the oil rig, to the destroyed ship, then to the statue of liberty (sans head), then into the city.
Even the movie poster actually shows a wake leaving the headless statue, and ending at some scene of destruction leading onto land, and into the city.
Heres my theory:
**May contain spoilers**
If you look at a picture of where they were drilling, there are on that ridge in the ocean.
It is possible that these creatures reside there.
The oil company then broke through the ridge searching for oil or resources, but on a map an object that big WOULD look like a natural resource hot spot.
Anyways, the monster then awakens from its slumber and destroys the oil rig out of pure aggression. All of the commotion, or the cry of the baby woke the mom/dad up, and they soon became very hungry, confused, and afraid of the world they now lived in, which was different 1,000+ years ago.
All of the lights from Manhattan could have been drawn to it, checked it out, didn't like it, then it got pissed... fast.
And as for the end where the monster is looking at Hud, it think that monster was the "baby". It looked curious to what was in front of him thus looking at it weird and tilting its head.
But seriously... it from the ridge in the Atlantic Ocean, chucked a piece of the oil rig all the way to coney island.
HOW CAN TWO SYLLABLES PLAYED BACKWARDS TURN INTO 4??
I also think that there has to be AT LEAST two monsters...
But people, STOP WITH THE "It's still alive" talk... use the simple voice recorder on your computer, record "help us" and play it backwards.... Jesus Christ that's annoying...
One thing is for sure, the clip was originally recorded with him saying 'it's still alive' and then reversed to say 'help us'. You can tell its more clear in one direction than the other.
Bottom of the line: FACT: it does say 'it's still alive' backwords.
I'll record it for you and then ACTUALLY play it backwards for you to REALLY hear what it sounds like...
I can't believe YOU believe some doctored youtube sh!t.....
Think for yourselves people!
2) There is only one clip type that i've heard of, floating around youtube. If there are any other clips, then it wasn't between the dozen clips i heard. So by your deduction, i've nailed the doctored clip on the head every single time? Highly unlikely. I've would have at least caught the right one by accident.
3) Looking foward to hear your clip.
4) Relax.
There are many theories floating around concerning the monster, origins, reverse messages, etc. I just want to say one thing, the explenation is probably far more simple and will leave even more holes.
2 or 3 monsters is possible but I'm thinking cinematic sizing screwup. It was mentioned about "it winning" but it was pretty clear that the military was completely clueless at that time and had no idea what it was dealing with.
The monster kind of appears different in the battle scene and the end Hud eat me scene but that could just be perspective. For the few amount of times you see the thing you really can't get a good grasp of what it really looks like.
They were probably going for sea creature and after many drawings got down to what we saw on film and thought, "that's gonna look friggin awesome" and stuck with in forgoing logic. Especially the gill-like things on its head which were probably meant more for effect in that scene than reality. Gotta admit, was kind of cool watching them puff up before Hud got mauled.
The little things that looked like the bugs from SS Troopers would have made burger out of them with those jaws, I don't understand one bite out of three climbing the ceiling. I don't think they were offspring.
The fact the big monster survived on land so long without going back to the ocean is also a little suspicious. I could possibly be amphibious but then it would need to surface even just to breathe through its skin. Just another hole.
The largest known animals on earth are whales, many eat krill and plankton. Most don't have the choppers like on that puppy. What did this thing eat on a regular basis that would cause it on the evolutionary basis to have such huge choppers. Maybe it was pissed because we're turning all of his food into oil. If so, why didn't he attack the eskimos.
Viral items are annoying. As much as I enjoyed the movie, I also get annoyed by it. I also get annoyed with myself typing this. The point of the movie is to show a more first person realistic view of a chaotic event. I even like the ending. There was no great Bruce Willis drilling into the monster and blowing it up from the inside or radioactive bitten spidy spooping out and harnessing the beast with his web. It was as realistic as you can make a movie like that and kind of a downer, which sometimes is so much better then the caped hero ending. But the viral publicity bull and the backwards messages and oil drilling and nectar stuff is annoying. Can't we just let a movie be what it was meant to be. And a Cloverfield 2? Didn't we learn from Blairwitch. Things are much better when left just mysterious then with viral items, it makes it much more interesting. What was the monster and it's origins, I'd rather just speculate on one of these boards or at a coffee table then be fed bull. Like they needed to put that dumb whisper at the end, what a waste of time. If you want to try and explain thing put it on the DVD extras.
I thought a mock cheezy TV newscast would be a great extra. That way you could put it on while your grandpa is sleeping on the couch, unplug the phones and wake him up in a fury. He better have on the Depends.
What would be great if they made it the guy that does the famous, "Leave Brittney Alone!" sketch on YouTube so another one of his sketches before chaos ensues. Or maybe he can bang Paris Hilton at the first part of the tape. I wouldn't mind seeing her bitten by a parasite and exploding, "That's Hoouuuuu. . .Boom." Probably will have footage of his toy poodle Twinkle jumping through hoops. I mean not everybody's friends are all that good looking. Gotta have a nose picker in the bunch or a perverted Uncle Larry.
I still maintain that the movie is awesome and be leary of a second movie. I feel that we will be put in an endless loop and never have closure even with Cloverfield 2, just another spash and a backwards message. I say the Coverfield monster goes to Philly and fights Rocky. Rocky will rally and prevail against the beast.
THEN HOW IS IT THAT IT CAN MOVE SO QUICKLY. The muscles imply power but under
water it means nothing. The gravity under water is very little. An octopus could be strong
and deadly under water but on land the gravity would be too great. I guess the Cloverfield
monster had a great MTV under water cave crib.
creatures skin seemed too thin to be able to withstand it. I mean we have missiles that can
destroy underground bunkers and I am sure they would have used one of them on the
creature. But NOTHING happened. I agrre with the exoskeleton thing.. Seems more
plausible.
son.
the first one was when the gang was on top of the brocken skyscraper, and you get a glimpes of 'clover'. Indeed it is the same monster because he's actually running on his front arms.
the second was the clovers face when they enter the subway and the third was the face when he's above hud.
There's no mention of there being to monsters, however i did noticed some differences in the faces of the last two images.
The face when he's above hud has a split jaw with sharp spike like teeth coming upwards. The face over the subway has a jaw more similar to t-rex with no front teeth..just a few chunky ones in the back.
Also the color of the head bladders was different, changing from a brown/green glob to a light pink in the later picture.
I don't think it means 2 different monsters...i think its just bad movie making procedures.
It's bad enough that the thing somehow was able to survive the Stealth Bomber strike, even though some of the "Bunker Buster" bombs the US used in Iraq can penetrate 20 feet of concrete.
But with a nuclear weapon, it's irrelevant how "impenetrable" the creature's skin is. It's (presumably) still made of matter. And the temperature at the center of a nuclear blast is several million degrees (Centigrade). Even 50 meters from the center, it's still 9,000 - 11,000 degrees. The highest boiling point of any element, for comparison, is that of tungsten, at 5,660 degrees. The creature wouldn't be blown apart by the blast--it would be vaporized.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/75/C...
The falling item from the sky at the end was a slusho sattelite JJ said it at a conference
the monsters came because it shook them up their is 2 monsters a parent and a baby notice how the monster at the end looks younger and smaller plus has more teeth.
The monster in the beggining is much larger and is missing quite a few teeth.
And for the 2nd movie they said there is going to be one but this one is also a secret no title and no previews.
And Robs brother who supposibly dies on the brooklen bridge isnt really dead he swam away and was safe.
And at the end for the credits it says its still alive backwords they are using riddles to keep us guessing until the 2nd one. i will keep posting everything new and i just bought the dvd yesterday and if you check closely if you use equpment you can buy at tech stores you can see that robs bro doesnt die
if you're getting hungry reading this, you might want to prepare the same dish. Here is what the recipe says [via Unfiction]:
"Everybody, thank you for viewing! I'll introduce this week's delicious recipe. Please make sure to keep this one cold!
* Skinless chicken breast - 2, cut in halves
* S?men noodles - 10 oz.
* Watercress - 1/2 cup cut into small strips
* Turnip - 1/2 cup, thinly sliced
* Shiitake Mushrooms - 1/2 cup
* Chicken stock - 1/3 cup
* Sake - 2 tbsp.
* Sugar - 1/2 tsp.
* Deep-sea crab - one
In a small saucepan, stir together 1/3 cup water, chicken stock, sake, and sugar. Chill it until it becomes cold. Grill the chicken breast on both sides for about 8 minutes, and then chill. Boil the noodles for about 3 minutes, and then run under cold water until chilled. Mix the watercress, turnips, and mushrooms into the s?men. Slice the chicken thinly and arrange on top of the s?men mix. Just before you serve, put the crab in the sauce and pour over the noodles generously.
Go Go Delicious Chef!"
The only clue is the last ingredient in the recipe, Deep-sea crab, which has made an appearance in the Slusho.jp website.
Creatures come from a high gravity planet.
Leaves the ufo and expands.
Multiple creatures? Maybe same kind maybe not.
Aliens of different kinds fighting or playing on earth who knows.
UFO crashed one creature...The one we see.
The tail creature the dormant sleeping creature and his name is Godzilla
in the happy talk, one of the animals says she's one of them, which could mean that noriko tried the secret ingredient or something and became a monster.
Just putting out a theory, i dont know.
