Film School Rejects: Enchanted: A Magical Experience for Any Disney Fan

I love this film. I recognised Jodi Benson (voice of Ariel) as I am a huge Little Mermaid fan. Did you notice that when Giselle is looking at the fish in the reception 'Part of Your World' is played?

When Giselle is falling down the side of the castle, this is the same as when Quasimodo and Esmeralda are falling down the side of the cathedral in Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Another link I have noted (though not to a Disney film) - Idina Menzel who plays Nancy was the original Elphaba in the musical 'Wicked', the score of which was composed by Stephen Schwartz who did many great Disney scores, such as the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

..forgot to mention about another link to the Wizard of Oz - Giselle's dress has a butterfly on her left shoulder, just like Glinda.

You forgot the scene where Giselle runs on the hill singing JUST LIKE in the Sound of Music when the nun runs singing at the beginning on the hill top...it was disney as well.
  • Prince Sebastian · 1 year ago
That is right, Kara, I didnt even see that. I'm guess it's a nod towards the narrator.
  • Lady Mouse · 1 year ago
You also forgot the scene at the restauraunt with the pizza replacing the spagetti in Lady and the Tramp.

Actually, youre half right, The scene when Giselle runs up the hill is a reference to the scene in Beauty and the Beast ("I want much more that this preventual life! I want adventure...") Which was inspired by the scene in the sound of music.

The part where Giselle is being transformed into a human.. is like the scene from the Little Mermaid when Ariel is being transformed into a "Human" lol... I noticed no one put this and I just noticed it now as I am watching the movie :)

This movie *Enchanted* was to exciting!! I love this movie, it shows that not all love stories only happend in books... Fairy tales are real!!

Also, Nancy's last name is Tremaine, the same as Cinderella's, which fits because of the glass slipper at the end. You find this out by watching deleted scenes. :D

Also, while Nathaniel is walking out of the tiny hotel room, where Edward has discovered the TV, if you watch the TV, that show was an old Disney show, and is you have a Alice in Wonderland DVD, do to the bonus features, (I think) there will be a thing where it starts out with a guy and a puppet . . .

A couple other smaller not-so-noticeable things.....
    - When Prince Edward jumps off of the bridge and Nathaniel runs up to him, he says..."sire, you have fallen on your royal ...." Edward interrupts saying "I KNOW". If you listen carefully, he sounds JUST LIKE GASTON when Lafou is trying to cheer him up in the bar scene. It was so convincing I actually had to look up whether the same person who did Gaston's voice was Prince Edward!
    - The way the queen keeps seeing what is happening in the 'real' world is through water. The way her face appears swirls into view and resembles the magic mirror.....especially when seeing her in the fish tank

where can you purchase the rapier used by Prince Edward?

    I also noticed :

Giselle's singing to a prince dummy is similar to Ariel's singing to Eric's statue.

And the prince dummy's outfit is exactly the same as Robert's outfit at the ball! Even the dummy's hair resembles Robert's.

In the living room scene (The working song and when Nancy barges in) you will see a stuffed animal, a dog lying on the couch, the dog is Prince Eric's (little mermaid) dog!!

This movie is like a treasure hunt for all Classic Disney fans!!

the scene where Edward find Giselle, and how he lifts her up and spin her around, is just like the final scene in "the little mermaid", where Ariel comes out of the sea and meet Prince Erik ...

    obs forgot:
the way in which the Queen keeps track of what Giselle is doing is reminiscent of the ways ursula from "the little mermaid" watching ariel.
in the beginning where Giselle looks through diamonds are taken from snow white where dwarf dopey looks through the diamants when they are working.

    I keep finding something new...
Giselle makes a dress of the curtains, like Julie Andrews in "The Sound of Music"
in Cinderella, her fairy god mother helps her to ready for the ball, just as Morgan does, and in the scene she is dressed as fairy ...
and in the final scene the mice helps Giselle with sewing dresses in "andalaisia fashion" in exactly the same way as in Cinderella
