Film School Rejects: Ellen Page to Play Jane Eyre

Nice Picture by the way. And I'm sure it will be good. But I just have to ask why actors "must" star in period movies like this to show they can act. If you look at their filmographies, most have starred in at least one. It's almost a requirement. Ellen Page has rocked it so far, but will she act better because she's wearing a costume?

I have to agree about the picture. I actually wouldn't have pictured her doing this role, but I might just have to check it out... I'm a big Ellen Page fan.

    to Kevin:

It's a pre-req for acting greatness, duh. Same with lawyers and hookers. Every actor has to play a lawyer before they get pegged as great (Cruise, Damon, Matthew McConaughey) and every chick has to be a prostitute to be taken seriously (Mira Sorvino, Julia Roberts, Sharon Stone). You also have to make a cameo appearance in a Woody Allen film. Gotta read the small print on that ol' acting contract!

I once starred as Nicholas Nickleby and it did nothing to further my career as a legitimate actor. Although, Victorian England did look an awful lot like Kevin Carr's basement.

You're right, Josh. I thought of Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge.
