Film School Rejects: Editorial: DVDs I’m Proud to Own Dammit!

Did you really tell AvP to take notes from Freddy vs. Jason? That's like telling Leprachaun in Space to take notes from Jason X.

I thought Tremors was fun, but sequels and a prequel do not a good film make.

I will defend Land of the Dead to the death because it's everything Romero's previous zombie films have been and more: an excuse to use zombies for political commentary.

Except that Land of the Dead isn't the end to Romero's Zombies. Diary of the Dead and a sequel are coming out.

OMG I love Galaxy Quest and own the DVD too. I remember catching it on pay per view in a hotel years ago when it came out. I was skeptical but bored and to my delight thought it was fun and endearing. I then went out and bought it.

Arachnophobia still scares the bajesus out of me.

No one gives "Freddy Vs. Jason" sufficient credit for what it did RIGHT. This wasn't supposed to be some deep-thinking tearjerker nobody but Oscar judges and pretentious film-snobs watched. This was supposed to be a monster bloody smackdown and that was exactly what we got. At least in the last ten minutes. Look...the continuity was a total bust. Jason's suddenly hydrophobic when in previous movies he's seen walking through an entire lake? That ridiculous little Jason Mewes knockoff? Oof. Sure, there was plenty to hate, but leave us not forget those last ten, fifteen minutes where Jason picked up Freddy and ran him through a building. Lengthwise. That look of dawning comprehension intermingled with horror on Freddy's face is worth the price of admission and popcorn besides!
